with  270 ~265 Wink

270 is exactly the same as 270X, just binned lower - so I guess smolen was right.

Weird that I'm still so much faster on 270.. Smiley 310MH/s at 1123MHz.

280x is about same speed as you or smolen,  510MH/s at 1150MH/s.

My miner is full sgminer with all algos working, works fine with multi-algo in nicehash.

What's the highest hashrate for 280x with private kernel at this time?İf it's effective possible to buy ))... i have 25 280x for gpu mining.

I'm currently running 501MH/s, it's 280x @ 1140MHz.

If you can run higher clock, just multiply the hashrate.. It is directly proportional, because this algo uses no memory. Memclock can be set to lowest you can, hashrate is not affected.

I also had some weird issues with 14.12.

On one machine, GPU0 would not accept GPU engine clock changes very easily. If doing it manually inside GPU settings, usually sgminer would say "driver reported failure" and the clocks would be pretty much random after that, usually very low clocks though. However, after lots and lots of tries, it actually accepted the clock change and would then run many days without problem.

This was also the same with aticonfig, also it would report fail and GPU0 would have random clocks afterwards.

gpu-auto in sgminer didn't really work at all, because it would get stuck at some low frequency if the clock setting failed. I did a small patch, that would retry increasing the clock after a few seconds, until full speed is reached.. But it could take something like 30 minutes to get it running at full clocks!

All this was only on GPU0, other GPUs were fine. I didn't try switching boards around, but with 14.6 drivers GPU0 changes clocks without problems.

On my other machine, 14.12 would crash X instantly if starting sgminer. This was fixed with option --no-adl. I remember having exact same behaviour with some Catalyst 13.xx, it didn't like "fanless" GPUs where GPU fan readings are always at 0rpm.. This is a watercooled system so there are no fans.  However 14.6 again works fine, with adl enabled.

So now I'm back at 14.6. I have a desktop machine with 14.12, and run CodeXL there so I can generate 14.12 binaries for any GPU.. They usually work just fine with 14.6 drivers.

there are at least a couple very low hanging fruits for us developers to enjoy, thanks wolf0 for helping preserve the specie ;-)
Tsss! Don't tell anyone about prepatched kernels! Wink

I'm in the 600 Mh/s club: 621 on r9 290x@1100.
Now wolf0 will reply "I'm at 700+"... ;-)

My current results. Smiley

R9 290  @ 1000MHz:  547MH/s
R9 280x @ 1150MHz: 504MH/s
R9 270  @ 1123MHz: 309MH/s
7990 @ 1000MHz: 438MH/s (per GPU)

Just to brag a bit more, I actually had these already before Wolf's latest release. Smiley

I think the Hawaii would easily be 600+ with decent clocks..

Just a quick note, to my surprise I noticed that my current sgminer already supports Qubit. It seems it has been there for a long time, much older algo than Lyra or WhirlpoolX.

So it's very likely that users don't need to download anything, just do the necessary config changes to activate Qubit.

Can anyone provide a link/chart or calculator, where I can check hash speeds for different algos.
For example: 5 MH/s on x11 = _____ on scrypt/x13/x15...

https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=multialgo

Here you can see the example ratios that Nicehash uses.. X11 factor 5.5 means it is 5.5*scrypt speed, so if you have 800kH/s for scrypt, you should get 5.5*800= 4400kh/s for X11.

Note that these ratios are based on the kernels included with sgminer. If you use custom X kernels from Wolf, you will get higher hashrates.

I can't seem to be able to change voltages on my Sapphire r290xs/r290s via config file in order for SGminer to automatically change clocks/voltages when switching kernel.  I'm using the following switch: "gpu-vddc" : "1.25"  and would like to add that I can change voltages in Afterburner just fine.

Thanks in advance for any input!

This is a problem with the AMD drivers. Voltage changing does not work on any gpu. It has probably worked at some point, perhaps in the 12.x catalyst.. But does not work in any 13.x or 14.x driver.

Afterburner talks with the hardware directly, bypassing the AMD drivers. This is not very clean, but seems to work fine.

Here's the lyra2re difficulty fix, for my source.. I'm too lazy to upload a new version. Smiley

Code:
algorithm.c, this line:

  { "Lyra2RE", ALGO_LYRA2RE, "", 1,  256, 256, 0, 0, 0xFF, 0xFFFFULL, 0x0000ffffUL, 4,2 * 8 * 4194304 , 0, lyra2re_regenhash, queue_lyra2RE_kernel, gen_hash, NULL},

change to:

  { "Lyra2RE", ALGO_LYRA2RE, "", 1,  128, 128, 0, 0, 0xFF, 0xFFFFULL, 0x0000ffffUL, 4,2 * 8 * 4194304 , 0, lyra2re_regenhash, queue_lyra2RE_kernel, gen_hash, NULL},

so "256, 256" changes to "128, 128".

Ok, I did a multi-algo version myself, source available from HERE.

This is based on badman74's latest version, so includes Lyra2E, Pluck and WhirlpoolX algos.

Don't ask for windows builds, sorry.

Are you sure this is based on latest badman74's version from here: https://github.com/badman74/sgminer? Because I've noticed two issues: "--difficulty-multiplier 2" issue is not resolved in your source (but is in badman74's git version) and Lyra2RE algo only works with "Lyra2RE" algorithm acronym, but not with "lyra2re".

Huh sorry, my mistake. Actually it's based on djm34's version, that's why it also has Pluck which badman74 doesn't have.

Someone should gather all these versions together in the main sgminer git..

https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer

It's easy to check that sgminer github is still at version 5.1, last update made at January 13th..

While this "SGMiner V5.2" might not be malware, it's very suspicious that someone has decided to name it "5.2".. That gives the impression that it is the next version of "official" sgminer, but obviously it is not.

I would never install mining software without checking the source first.. It is so easy to plant bad code. Virus checkers will not find anything "malware" there, if the malicious code is already in the source.

Oh yeah,
I can switch between algo's just fine.

I used Wolf his 64bit linux version (source).

How do  you switch? Here it uses whirlpoolx kernel for all algos..

Nicehash has sgminer downloads that allow for switching including whirlpoolx.  It has been working for me.  The announcement a few posts back was kind of confusing

Well, I haven't tested the Windows versions, but Linux binaries and the source are whirlpoolx-only.

The source code only has whirlpoolx.c in the algorithm-directory. There is no way any other algo could work..

Does anyone have sgminer version that has both Whirlpool and Lyra?

At least the sources available in Nicehash page has only Whirlpool..

Edit: Huooh, it's worse than that, this version of sgminer seems to have whirlpoolx only.. Really guys. Smiley

Well, the bright side is that all other algorithms seem to improve on profitability now that anyone interested in Whirlpoolx can't mine anything else. Smiley

I agree.
7000 series while still very relevant for gaming (especially on budget) have a serious problem: their model number is ... two years old? Maybe even three. Do not buy. Sell asap if you already have one as a new model will be out in a couple of months (actually sooner AFAIK, but availability is a big question).

7970 is exactly the same card as R9 280x. Probably the most widely used card for mining.
