Every currency has its ups and downs. Even fiat money loses 50%. That doesn't make Ethereum scam. There are really big companies investing on ETH.

Devs of QRL coin are claiming that it is quantum resistant. Nobody knows if the mathematical formula they use is legit or not.
If someone is good at math give it a try 

If a coin crashes and rises so fast it is good to buy and sell
If a coin rises steady (even though slowly) it is good to hold.
I don't think such a currency supported by many big companies will die. As it is said "buy low sell high".

Actually it seems that almost all serious coins are red. Probably people are getting ready for the 1. August SegWit.

There were also too many ICOs build on Ethereum wallet and mostly invested with ETH.
Developers (actually most of them didn't develop anything, just copy paste) got free ETH and now selling all.
I think that is why ETH is the most loosing cryptocurrency at the moment.
