Honestly, I got into bitcoin mainly out of curiosity. I am fascinated by new technology and bitcoin is no exception. Also, I think it's going up long term.

Re: "Socialism" the most looked up word of 2015
by

on 28/01/2016, 00:49:53 UTC
ps. for those that don't know, you needn't bother looking it up as you have practicaldreamer at hand.

This is socialism (Clause IV of the Labour Party constitution of old) :-

"To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service."

The means of production are, basically, land+labour+capital.

Its interesting, anyhow, that the US is looking up socialism - I suppose it already has a good idea what libertarianism means.
Implying Bernie Sanders is really a socialist  Roll Eyes
Hell, he isn't even really a democratic socialist, and even they don't want to move the means of production from capitalists to workers.

At most Bernie is a Social Democrat, but calling himself that won't get him votes. His base mostly comprises of wannabe anti-capitalists who are really just capitalists that don't understand the difference between Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, and Socialism.

Re: Is the world economy dependent on the American economy?

Yes, of course. When the US entered the Great Recession back in '08, the rest of the world followed it. Perhaps some countries, such as North Korea, aren't that dependent on it, but, as a whole, the world economy is very reliant on the United States. This will probably change in a few decades though.

Honestly, I was under the impression that Peercoin was pretty much done. It's rallying a bit but I don't think more people are adopting it. It's a pity because Peercoin had some cool ideas.

Re: War is a crime
by
ace45954
on 19/01/2016, 23:28:30 UTC
We are civilized humans not savages. Although we are civilized, we still fight wars like savages. War is essentially stealing. It's stealing because you are taking another's land, money, and resources while killing thousands of people in the process. It's immoral and unfair. The people who steal this way are not penalized for their wrongdoings instead they are treated as heroes.

If someone steals from someone else they get punished, if someone kills someone else they get punished. However if a group of individuals (country) plunders, murders and destroyes another group of individuals...they do not get punished. There is no authority to punish them.

The sad thing is, war has become somewhat like a game. We even have RULES for war  Cheesy this is total madness. It's like making rules for stealing, it does not make sense.

War itself should be illegal it is a crime like any other crime. The fact that we wage war over each other reflects the evil in the collective human psycy. We are civilized but we continue to act like savages. What is the use of technological, and societal development when we cannot even be good to each other.

What do you guys think?
Is war justified?
War is not justified so long as you are the aggressor.
Well at least war is slowly on the decline:

How narrow minded and false your commentary is  Roll Eyes

Here is a small link to understand how wrong you are: http://persquaremile.com/2012/08/08/if-the-worlds-population-lived-like/

Problem is just the way of life, not the number of humans. The "low IQs people" as you say, are the only one correctly managing Earth resources, while your incredibly intelligent Americans are consuming 4 times the resources the Earth can provide.

Stop blaming the others for your own incapacity to live in a sustainable way buddy. Assume the fact that you're killing the world in which your children will have to live, you'll be responsible for it, not the Africans.
doubling your population every couple of generations is not sustainable.

you can call it 4 planets worth or you can say there are 4 times too many people on the 1 planet we have. better a couple of billion people having cars, protein rich diets and only having to work 40 hours a week than 9 billion people all living like indian slum dwellers.
But the earth's population isn't doubling. In fact the human population growth rate is slowing quickly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwfH1gYkXTw
In a few decades, human population will level off somewhere around 9-10 billion or so. There is enough food in the world to feed over 11 billion iirc assuming the food was evenly distributed.

In addition, standards of living are improving, even the vast majority 3rd world countries are significantly better now than they were just 10 years ago.
"In 1990, the percentage of the global population living in extreme poverty was 43.1%, but in 2010, that percentage had dropped down to 20.6%."

I was looking at other forums in comparison to this. This one seems more user friendly and better at representing data. Is it just me or does anyone else think this?
Well if your talking about forums related to currencies, then this is basically the only one that matters, so of course bitcointalk is the best. All the others are almost inactive afaik.

Re: Why has bitcoin had success in China?
by
ace45954
on 11/01/2016, 05:09:40 UTC
I'd imagine that there are a variety of reasons contributing to its success there. for one, the large population means that even if only a small percentage of the people embrace it, that's still constitutes potentially millions of people. In addition, electricity is cheap and I'd imagine building a mining rig is cheaper there. Finally, there is the gambling mentality that is quite present in Chinese society.

If you open your own simple Faucet site, you should be able to increase your daily income to 30 – 35 US-$
Really? You can earn that much from a typical faucet site? That seems unlikely.

Neat. A surprising amount of it is coming from China; it's fascinating to watch the country slowly make the transition from emulation to innovation like Japan and Germany did before it so many years ago.

Also, please help out - how far can we sail a ship without falling off?  Can we park our boat on the edge, toss a net over the edge, and catch bunches of fish?

If you plan on going sailing here's a map of the world:

Download the full-size (31.4 MB) map here ---> http://i.imgur.com/O8IpMmi.jpg

As you can see the Antarctic ice ring is the limit to how far you can sail. But don't plan on going there any time soon as the Antarctic Treaty System is in place and you'll be met with military force if you try and sail anywhere near Antarctica.
No you won't. People travel to Antarctica all the time:

The Earth is flat and we're covered by an artificial dome that keeps the water out. I can prove this beyond a reasonable doubt. ...and for dog's sake turn off the fucking television it's totally fucking your minds!

Put a camera in a helium balloon and you will see the earth is round  Smiley

This has been done and it's flat.
I'm really speechless. You genuinely need help if you're this nuts (unless you're just trolling in which case good job).

Except this was by ordinary people. Go strap a camera to a weather balloon and take pictures yourself. No fisheye lens required.

No, you know what, you don't even need to do that, just sit by a harbor and watch distant ships approach. The top of the ship will be visible while the rest still appears to be beneath the sea (because of the curvature of the Earth). I've witnessed it myself and so can you.

Re: Shi’ite fury after Saudi mass execution
by

As long as USA kiss their ass for oil, Saudis can do whatever they want. If any other country in area do something like that, hell would open on them.

Exactly so, they are allowed all.And if it is true that Saudi Arabia has invested a lot in the US economy over the years there is no way that such a business partner is called into question.Executed people are enemies of SA and therefore enemies of the USA.

Maybe as long as we have a Muslim president.
I've never understood these sorts of remarks from the far-right. Besides the fact that Obama is quite obviously not Muslim, the US has allied and propped up the House of Saud for decades. People from both political parties refer to the state as a "friend", even though they are the most extreme Muslim nation in the world. This is simply because they have Oil and sell it to us as long as we protect them.

Re: Big Crash coming
by

on 04/01/2016, 23:57:58 UTC
Just to let you guys know a big crash is coming in 2016 in the economy. There is going to be a huge financial crisis but it will be worse than 2009.

The bitcoin price will skyrocket to over $10,000. However  bitcoin will be banned in all western countries. If you are reading this living in the west you should make preparations to move to Russia or China they are the only places you will be safe owning bitcoins.

The crisis will be so big it will destroy entire countries and in 2017 there will be a civil war in the USA, UK and western europe. After this the world will never be the same again it will change so much by 2020 it will be unrecognizable compared to today.
"make preparations to move to Russia"
You do realize Russia is incredibly hostile towards Bitcoin right? Far more so than the US

Grin lol If anyone is going extinct due to low birth rates, it's Russia
You need to upgrade your firmware, it's outdated.
Nope. Russia is dying. Its demographics are poor. Its economy is royally screwed. Putin is a crappy leader with no understanding of how economies work and instead tries to suppress freedom of speech thinking that silencing dissent will save his country. He is also anti Bitcoin. It's funny but also pitiful really...

In 2015 Russia's per capita GDP fell to $8447 a year. That's below the world average and less than $200 more than China. Russia is finished.

Russian demographics are better than its surrounding areas and improving.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Russia

Quote
As of 2014, Russian TFR of 1.750 children per woman[8] was the highest in Eastern, Southern and Central Europe. In 2013, Russia experienced the first natural population growth since 1990 at 22,700 people. Taking into account immigration, the population grew by 294,500 people

Only by spending billions to encourage people to have children.
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-13143523
Money they can't afford to spend because their economy is shrinking rapidly. And even despite this, their population is expected to fall roughly 5% in the next 15 years or so. All while the economy continues its death throes.
