I'm having trouble getting it to run on a Mac (hey, it's got cores). No problem on my PC.
I Downloaded the Mac Deamon DL from GetHub. Made the Litecoin.conf file as stated above, put it in the right path in the Libraries folder, run minerd and in terminal I get:
Quote
Warning: To use litecoind, you must set rpcpassword= in the configuration file: /Users/EveryThink/Library/Application Support/Litecoin/litecoin.conf
Also, running the app Litecoin-Qt crashes with this error:
Quote
Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/db48/libdb_cxx-4.8.dylib Referenced from: /Users/EveryThink/Downloads/litecoin-mac-client-daemon-50000 2/Litecoin-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS/Litecoin-Qt Reason: image not found
Any thoughts?

Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched!
PM your LTC address and username and I'll send you back the pools 5%. A failing beta version doesn't deserve it ATM.
Failing? Looks like success from here. Props for the legwork on getting the pool running. My measly 6 cores (Goldie) don't eve show up now, but no worries. Vultures gonna eat every time, so get your cut, and keep my 5%.

Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched!
yes i see you on the stats page. but i didn't see myself there even though everything seemed to be running fine for about 15 minutes of mining. did i give up too soon?
only thing i can think of is that my config of minerd is off:
Dunno about --s and I'm having the same thing happen to me now. My cores are 100% but nothing shows on the pool. Admin, any thoughts? I'll fire it up now and then to keep trying it, but there seems to be a problem with workers staying, or getting, into the pool. For reference, I was good for about 4 hours prior to about 12:30 AM EST.

that pool is broken.. the guy that runs it gave up
What are you referring to? I'm mining at this, albeit beta, pool: http://184.107.145.244 and it is working. Proof, go here: http://184.107.145.244/stats.php I'm Goldie and my shares are showing up on my workers page.
Unless it's some extremely elaborate ruse, it seems to be working as well as any other pool I've seen. At least at the moment.
block explorer of this pool paying out or it didn't happen
No, it didn't happen yet. I haven't paid anything out. So, look, I'm just saying my rig seems to be working on this pool. Maybe I'm throwing away a couple bucks on electrons. I'll pay out when I get something worth a payout. Till then my settings, that work are:
CD to your minerd.exe folder and replace everything after 'userpass' with your miner deets. Give it a go, or post back something more useful. This is what I got going on my 6 (humble) Opteron cores, and I'm mining Ltc, as far as I can tell.

Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched!
Litecoin pool. Consider it experimental right now , and toss a core on it and register real quick. It worked perfectly on the testnet. Now it's giving me a longpool every minute exactly, and I haven't had a share in 15 minutes from one computer. Stats are all reset and it is pointed to the production server.
Give me some feedback and I'll go from there.
Hey WannaB, I'm 1 of the 2 in your pool. 6 Opteron cores at ~6 KH/s (out of 8 total on the site right now).
Think I've got it set up right, but want to check - I can point all 6 cores at one miner on your setup, right? Seems to be from my end, every core is sporting 100% utilization.

2 Noob questions. 1st, The config file. How do I set or discover 'rpcuser' and 'rpcpassword' as shown in the sample below. I want the GUI/wallet to mine for me so I'll uncomment 'gen=1' but it seems to still do nothing.
Sample litecoin.conf file from the main post:
Code:
server=1 rpcuser=user rpcpassword=password
#Uncomment this if you want to have the client mine for you. #gen=1
#Change this if you want to use a different rpc port for mining #rpcport=9332
#Only uncomment this if you are running litecoind (not Litecoin QT) #daemon=1
Second, non of the wallet buttons do anything on my machine. Can't push send, receive, address book, etc. But it did download all the blocks and keep updating them just fine. Thanks for any help.
just have your miners setup with multiple backup pools configured as failovers.
Will do. I'm using GUI Miner. Is there a better way to do it than the -f60 trick? Seems inelegant and wasteful to have a card splitting resources in 'good times'

Re: Surely this isn't a 51% attack on bitcoins, right?
It's possible this is not a "51% attack" but something much simpler, bringing down a pool as large as deepbit, slush or btc guild this close to a difficulty change will 1, decrease the number of new blocks found slowing the flow of new blocks into exchanges theoretically temporarily stabilizing the prices(this would happen at any point a major pool went offline however) and 2 cause the difficulty drop to be longer than normal by affecting the blocks/hour ratio even if done for a day this would cause a greater than predicted difficulty drop and allow said attacker to mine more coins than prior during the next cycle
I like you conspiracy theories Deslok! Plus, less difficulty is hard to hate. Question, is it better to point small (~2 Ghash) guns at a operating pool during times like this, or is it better to go solo? My line of thinking is it's better to be in a pool because you'll contribute to solving a block faster, and that's what effectively hinders any 51% bs. Going solo with anything less than 10 Ghash seems wasteful of precious block solving time.
BTW, I'm at BTC Guild for now.

This thread is very helpful. I previously bought from cablesaurus for my dedicated mining rig and thought it was a little pricey, but it worked, so I soon forgot. Now that prices are so low I'm pinching pennies. Still, I'd like to add 2 5870s to a 2u server I've got running for other purposes. Call me stupid for throwing $ at a mining rig, but I'm an ardent believer in Bitcoins.
Thanks, and any advice from hardened miners is very welcome. Gotta watch those Btc lately!

If you piece them out, let me know if you have a carcass (mobo, PSU, etc. without the v-cards) you need to unload - I'd consider it.

Maybe these other coins, like IX and I0 are pulling miners away from Btc?

Re: Anyone else having a "no such transaction" today on Deepbit?
Yes, I am having the same issue. I withdrew 1.1BTC and now my coins are gone or in limbo or something. Who should I contact? Tycho?
In the mean time I've switched to slush.
Mine just showed up in my wallet, sort of, but it says [0/unconfirmed] under status and the line is greyed out. Odd. Curious, why did you pick Slush pool? Just wondering the pros/cons since maybe I should switch too.

Re: Anyone else having a "no such transaction" today on Deepbit?
mhh just tied it and withdraw a 0.01 btc from deepbit.. by clicking on the date in the transaction log, it says "No such transaction ", but it showed up in my wallet. Maybe you have to wait al little bit more, till your transaction could get its way in a block. I think the transaction isn't existing till its verified.. just a guess
Thanks. I'm still waiting to see it show up. Hopefully it will soon!
