Re: Anybody quit smoking lately?
by

Yes i am, the reason that quitting smoking is difficult isn't necessarily because you're young, old, smoke a little or a lot, or have smoked for ages. It's tough to quit because cigarettes are addictive. The nicotine acts like a drug in your system. It's what gives you that "high," relaxed, and happy feeling when you smoke that keeps you coming back for more.

Anyone who is truly addicted to nicotine is going to have a tough time quitting smoking, and that's certainly true for seniors who have been lighting up for decades. Plus, it's a physical habit. A cigarette is what you have with your breakfast, after your dinner, while you're watching TV, or when you're chatting with friends. It's the habit of smoking as much as the nicotine that is addictive and tough to give up.

No one said it was easy, but no one said it couldn't be done, either.

Quitting takes a lot of determination, hard work, and preparation. You need to know your potential roadblocks and triggers, and how you will handle them before they spring up and surprise you.

Some people have success quitting cold turkey and never light up again after making the big decision. Others do better gradually tapering off their smoking, cutting out more cigarettes each day until they've kicked the habit.

Getting older isn't an excuse to give up on your health. In fact, it's the perfect time to take control of your health and kick the habit that's been plaguing you for years.

Re: Do you believe in aliens?

I believe that Aliens do exist . I also think our government is behind most of the sightings we see nowadays. Back in the late 30's and 40's those Alien encounters are the real thing. Now they are just engineering them.

And maybe We are the aliens on this planet. We shouldnt be here at all. We cant handle the sunlight we burn in the sun the gravity is too heavy for us too. Dont see many animals walking round with suncream and sunshades on these days.

Really hard to believe that in this big old universe we have we're the only ones alive. They're real we just don't realize it yet.

Re: TV Series Recommendations...

1. Twin Peaks (Season 3)

Showtime. 18 episodes.
It's 25 years later, and Dale Cooper's still stuck in the Black Lodge. Will you join him? Help him get the hell out of there and back to the cherry pie awaiting him in Twin Peaks? David Lynch is directing all 18 episodes of this limited revival series, and four beautiful, brain-teasing, and bizarre episodes in, expectations have already been way, way exceeded.

2. The Leftovers (Season 3)

HBO. 8 episodes.
So many mysteries left to answer, and only one episode remaining to explain them.

3. Better Call Saul (Season 3)

AMC. 10 episodes.
We're inching ever closer toward the events depicted in Breaking Bad's first season, what with the arrival of Gus Fring and other familiar faces into Jimmy McGill's life this season. But this is no mere spin-off; few shows depict sibling rivalry as affectingly as BCS, and each new interaction between Chuck McGill and the man also known as Saul Goodman is more sad than the last.

4. Taboo (Season 1)

FX. 8 episodes.
Bona fide movie star Tom Hardy stops by FX to play James Delaney, a top-hat-wearing shipwreck survivor who's determined to thwart the many Londoners seeking to steal his inheritance circa 1814. The actor's relentlessly intense performance elevates a show that intertwines maritime trade, the War of 1812, and incest into a cracking yarn. Binge it immediately -- the top-hat industry demands it.

5. American Gods (Season 1)

Starz. 8 episodes.
Adapting Neil Gaiman's work has never been easy, but this supremely weird, bloody, and inventive attempt has succeeded wildly so far.

Hope will help!

Primitive Technology for beautiful filmography, interesting subject, and bonus hot guy. May come in handy with the pending nuclear apocalypse and collapse of civilization.

Techmoan because of all the interesting random and old crap that he buys and explains/takes apart - did you know that background music back in the day came from a record player that held like 60 records that ran at super-low speed and played upside down? He's got two of the machines, a huge stack of records, and takes them apart and fixes them. Stuff like that.

Head 2 Head because it's a fun car show that has great hosts with excellent chemistry. Kinda like what Top Gear was in The Before Time.

I'm assuming 'hard' cider is an American thing? In England it's just cider, is why I ask.

Also, I'm seeing some pretty basic ciders being shouted out. We tend to think of them as fake ciders - as good country made cider shouldn't be carbonated. If you want 'real' cider (as I would call it), here are a few brands to look out for:

(Side note - I do enjoy a Strongbow or Thatchers Gold every now and then, and am in no way putting them down!)

Old Rosie - 7.3% abv (14.6 proof), very strong and is gone before you know it. Extremely easy to drink and tastes amazing. Sediment left in - it's made in the way cider was made in the old days. Not carbonated.

Black Dragon - Welsh Cider, filtrated. 6.5% abv (13 proof). Very full cider, takes a bit to drink (but that depends on how far gone you are, I finished many a bottle far too quickly). Not carbonated, definitely stands out due to being un-scrumpy-like as the others here will be.

Wyld Wood - cloudy full and fruity cider with a bit of bitterness. Lower on the percentage scale compared to the others - 6% abv (12 proof) but still packs a punch. This is easily the most drinkable imo.

There are many many others and these are just the mainstream ones you find in pubs and supermarkets - there are lots of home brands that make better cider that I've never even heard of!

Hope this helps!

Re: what will you do when you are in a bad mood?
by
adeandrian
on 05/07/2017, 07:54:58 UTC
Even if something happened to create your bad mood, you’re responsible for maintaining it, and it’s easy to do that if you refuse to see the other side of situations. If you want to believe your best friend meant to hurt you, or the world is against you, or your boss didn’t promote you because she’s out to get you.
Instead of fueling your anger for your friend, feel compassion for the pain she must be in; she’d never hurt you on purpose. Instead of thinking the world is against you, put your day in perspective; everyone has bad days. Instead of imaging your boss is out to get you, realize she had a tough choice to make, and you’ll have more opportunities to advance down the line.
Sometimes when you’re down, it might feel like you have to stay there. But the truth is we can influence how we feel by choosing what we do. Sitting around sulking causes prolonged sadness. Doing something proactive will help you start to feel better.
When you realize you’re the only thing standing between you and a smile, you get motivated to take action. That’s the thing about feelings: you can’t sit around waiting for them to change. You have to do something to change them.

Re: Android vs Window phones .......

Android is the bestbecause Windows Phone is a closed-sourced, which means that it is solely developed by the company and protected by copyright. The system offers new features such as: a whole new interface, text input by an on-screen virtual keyboard, threads messaging, Internet Explorer browser, organized contacts via People Hub, Email access (support for Outlook.com, Exchange, Yahoo! Mail, and Gmail), Xbox Music, Xbox Videos, Xbox Video Store, Games Hub, Bing Search Engine, Bing Maps, Voice recognition function, turn-by-turn navigation, Office Suite (Microsoft Office Mobile), Multitasking capability, syncing capability with Zune software, Windows Phone App and Windows Phone Store. The Windows Store is limited as there only a few number of apps. The company has yet to populate the store with the number of apps that is available on Apple Market or Google Play.

Re: Are you buying bitcoins? Why?
by
adeandrian
on 27/06/2017, 11:45:39 UTC
Bitcoin is the most liquid of all the cryptocurrencies. Japan’s decision to start recognizing it as legal tender in April seems to have led directly to the current run-up. Markets in Japan and South Korea recently priced it at $2,350 per coin. This seems to be fueling a rally in other cryptocurrencies.

Markets like Bitfinex, Bitstamp and BTC-e make it easy to set up an account and trade Bitcoin, but prices vary widely. There are also Bitcoin markets around the world — it’s a global currency after all — and their prices can vary wildly, too.

Vapor or cigarettes, whichever you choose?
by
adeandrian
on 26/06/2017, 11:32:23 UTC
Lately I smoke, but over time I feel strange especially in the heart. Sometimes it hurts on the left but only a few seconds. My friend suggested stop smoking and told me to use a vapor.

I've been googling about the effects of vapor to body, but the answer is less satisfactory.

How do you think, preferably a cigarette or a vapor?

Be careful, this thread hasn't updated since 2015.

Along with that, if this is something you are genuinely considering, I'd not be using something like this.

Do your own research and build your own.

I agree with you, the thread is too old
