Re: AMD 6600 XT performance

Hello,

I have a little rig with 6 RX 4xx/5xx GPU.

I would like to change one or more GPU with a 6600/6700/6800 XT. After a good tuning (overclok/undervolt), which is the max hashrate and the power consumption of each of this card?

Thanks

If you looking to add some GPUs to your rig, this link is a good point to start:
https://www.kryptex.org/en/best-gpus-for-mining

Hashrates are about accurate (+-) 2-3 Mh/s depending on your OS, OC tuning, and silicon lottery. Prices will depend on your country, but most of the GPUs could be found at better prices in the USA.

If you looking for replacing 8G Polaris cards with new models, I would not recommend it, for me does not make sense. They still work pretty well and are efficient. Except if you bought them recently second-hand, they should be paid off and just will make a profit for you. Buying new ones will just eat your profit.

Thank you for the link.

Yes, I have 6 Polaris 8G and I want to replace at least one of them because I have some watts available from the PSU.

What I need to know is the hashrate and the watt used after a fine tuning, so I can evaluate if this can be an option. My little rig is over the ROI from about one year :-)

Unluckily the link you provided doesn't provide this information :-(

If you are running Windows, then also run the latest drivers for your video card as well.   I've noticed a LOT of people who run old driver versions due to the older PhoenixMiner versions not working with the latest AMD drivers for example, but then they update PhoenixMiner which has been updated to work with the latest drivers but without updating the drivers as well.

Hello,

I'm on driver 20.12.1. Is there any advantage to update to the latest supported by Phoenix Miner?

Stale hashes on ethermine

Hello,

I have a rig with a mix of AMD 4x0 and 5x0 cards, and I use ethermine. On the portal he often reports "stale hashes" to me, but on Phoenix Miner I can't understand which GPU can generate them. Is there any way to figure this out without trying one GPU at a time?

Thanks,
Andrea

Restart after every DAG Switch
by
agabellini
on 04/03/2021, 10:14:37 UTC

Phoenix Miner 5.5c, Windows 10 (updated), AMD GPUs and driver 20.12.1.

Whenever there is a DAG change, PM restarts continuously because the GPUs are no longer responding. As soon as I connect to the rig with remote desktop, PM starts working normally.

I use the video card integrated with the motherboard with a dummy HDMI adapter.

What can it be?

I tried with "-rmode 0" and the classic loop to restart it. I tried with "-eres 0". Without success.

This is my actual setup:

-amd
-mode 1
-log 1
-logdir logs

-acm
-rmode 0
-gser 1
-eres 0
-clKernel *:1
-gt 1:28,2:63,3:58,4:33,5:58,6:29
-vmr *:100
-gpureset 1

-hstats 2
-tt 60
-ttli 80
-tstop 85
-tstart 50
-fanmin 1:30
-mt *:1
-cclock *:1200
-mclock *:2100,4:2070,580:2200,480:2200
-cvddc *:900,580:850,570:850
-mvddc *:900,580:850,570:850

Hello,

I would like to migrate from Windows to Linux.

Which distro and version is reccomended?

I read on the net that Ubuntu, both 18.04 and 20.04 have problem with newer kernels. Is it true?

Which version of drivers?

Thanks,

Mining on Ubuntu 20.04

Hello,

I'm trying to mine with Ubuntu 20.04 and a RX470, but I have some problems installing the AMD drivers.

I tried different versions, but I got always some errors when the installer compiles the kernel module.

I run the installer with "amdgpu-pro-install -y".

Is there any tricks? I'm missing some packages? Is there any guide?

Thanks,
Andrea

Dual mining with zero hash rate
by

on 14/12/2020, 21:33:58 UTC

Hello,

I'm using a little rig with an RX 470 8GB. I have about 31 MH/s.

I would like to try dual mining, and I have added this options to the command line:

-dpool blake2s.eu.nicehash.com:3361
-dwal xxxxxx
-dpass x
-worker xxxxxx
-dcoin blake2s

It connect to nicehash and it is authorized, but the hash rate is always zero.

what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Andrea

Yes, update driver at least to version 20.4.2. And use amd drivers patcher.

Ok thanks! Is the latest 20.11.2 (WHQL) supported?

AMD drivers patcher it's not just for modified VBIOS?

Thanks,
Andrea

Hello,

I just switched from Claymore 15 to PhoenixMiner 5.3b.

Windows 10 with mining driver 17.8 beta and one RX470 8GB. Running the mining software as Administrator.

The video card use the default BIOS and all moddings are done throuth the mining software.

I have two problems:

- I can't set the -mt value. I get this error: "hwmc GPU1: Unable to set VMEM timing to 1 - error: -8".
- I can't set the -mvddc. In this case no error occours. The miner hangs without any message!!!

What could be the problem? Is the driver too old?

Thanks,
Andrea
