I am a web developer and have enough background in this field and as I know SHA-256 is a one-way algorithm that cannot be decrypted. Then what actually is mining and why it requires such huge resources?

Still can't find answers to some basic questions.

Hello,

I had read really a lot about bitcoin here and around the web, still can't find answer to basic questions though.

Q1: Since there is no central authority controlling Bitcoin, then, who is actually giving out Bitcoins for miners for securing the network?

Q2: Is the main point of Mining softwares to decode SHA-256 hashes? If not, what actually are the mining software doing?
If so. Then whoever knows how to decode/decrypt SHA-256 can make Bitcoins?

I will be updating this topic for more questions if any Smiley

A question: 500 GH/s at the current difficulty level, makes around 400 BTC a month. You can assume nobody will receive his ASIC before 2 months at least. Why would you sell yours then? It will break even in just one month.

Has anyone reached any IMPORTANT conclusion yet? Has anyone proven anything?

I am on page #42 (and still reading) but this will take much time to end this topic.

I am thinking of investing like $10K on their miners but I am a bit afraid.

Worth or not? Real and works as should be? Deliver on time?

I know that you are looking for past difficulty factors but I guess this can help for the future: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/

This one is much better; helped me a lot and got helpful information. Thanks (Y)

time to read bitcoinorama personal report on KNC

Already read that topic but without the replies - Is that enough to assume they are real and will deliver on time?

I have been on this topic two days ago and already reached page #42 out of 236 pages.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.0

I will continue reading but it will take MUCH of time to reach any conclusion since there is much of uninformative talk.

I am wondering if anyone has proven anything about the company yet? If they will be able to deliver on time? Or even if they are scam or real? Any conclusion has been reached?

I am thinking of investing like $10K on their miners but I am a little afraid. Any advice is very appreciated: ROI? Difficulty factor jumps and exchange rate drops? Still mining worth investment?

Any reply is welcome Smiley.

Will this be a big joke to Swedish? Shocked

Why? Smiley

Here you go:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?hl=en&hl=en&key=0AmcTCtjBoRWUdHVRMHpqWUJValI1RlZiaEtCT1RrQmc

Turns out I was remembering the 4,847,647 to 6,695,826 jump, which was the biggest % jump (38.13%) in almost two years.

Thanks for sharing, I think this will help me a lot Smiley.

Thanks for the link - I think one year back will be fine.

Do you remember why that jump happened? And how the diff. was before the jump?

Chart for previous Difficulty Factors?

Hi, sorry if the topic posted in wrong forum.

I am wondering if there is a website shows charts for Difficulty Factors over the past year or two,

and if it shows any important events during that time, like the date of releasing new ASIC or so on..

Is there a website for that? Just to make better assumptions/expectation on how the difficulty factor will look like in the next 2 months or so on..
