No one knows when it'll hit bottom. If you like the coin, might as well use the dollar averaging technique and buy a small portion now.. if it drops further, buy more.

Re: Day trade or Hodling

I have just developed a new strategy. Instead of HOLDING that might take forever. I just sell my altcoins to BTC.
Just like now, BTC is about to go up again to hit $5000 usd. So I sell all my altcoins and wait for Bitcoin to go up. Soon Altcoins will start to dump itself.

And that is the time I will rebuy all again my coins from the dip. This would give me more income. Just remember: If Bitcoin is going up fast, expect an altcoin crash.

Completely agree, that's pretty much something you would do in the forex market as well. In essence, you are longing bitcoin, whilst shorting altcoins. To add to this, you guys can refer to the altcoin's value in USD (or your local currency) to see whether the coin has weakened significantly, or it has simply weakened due to a strong bitcoin.

It's really important that you have some basic knowledge in finance first. You need to understand technical indicators and know when to get in and get out of your positions. Anything from USD 100 is a good start. And it's probably advisable for you to observe the market for a while... after all, market sentiment plays a huge role in crypto.

Re: Dividing your salary.

Hello, as we all know that Bitcoin is heading straight to the moon. Me, as an employee, do also invest with this cryptocurrency, and I kinda need to divide all of my salary for my needs, and on how much should I invest in? Let's talk about percentage. Anyone?

It's tough to give it a percentage in terms of salary. It might be easier if you do a "percentage of your total investment". I reckon your portfolio should consist of 5%-10% digital assets, whilst the rest should be in conventional investment vehicles (bonds, stocks, options etc.). Of course, this would also depend on your risk appetite and your investment objective.

Do message me if you would like to discuss more about investment. I cannot offer you advice, but I can certainly discuss any problems that you might have  Smiley

Paper money might be around for a while. It's basically a national identity. Unless governments start state-sponsored cryptocurrencies, I do not see that paper currency will be gone. But it seems that digitalising currency is a trend (look at the Scandinavian countries).

Well, never put your eggs in a single basket is always the idea. And it's generally a good idea to trade large market cap coins if you're unfamiliar with the mechanisms of trading. They tend to fluctuate within a range. Try to look at charts and identify a low buying point for you. It's important that you can apply the dollar-averaging technique here. So say, if the price of the coin drops, you can increase your position and wait for the price to rise again. Of course, this comes at a risk as well, so it's important that you follow the charts and news closely if you want to be successful in trading. Best of luck.

Re: Three reasons to invest in Bitcoin

Indeed these are certainly great reasons to invest in Bitcoin. But since cryptocurrency in general is extremely risky (not that is would fail, but that it fluctuates wildly), it may not be suitable for conservative investors. Certainly, for young people, Bitcoin is a certainly an asset that NEEDS to be in one's investment portfolio.

Re: How to teach kids about Bitcoin?
by

on 24/08/2017, 15:34:28 UTC
As with most investments, it's probably better to start educating kids about bitcoin earlier (but not to the extent of letting them invest in it yet!). It's important that they learn about the basics of managing their personal finance and be responsible with money. And let's just say that cryptocurrency is similar to the Internet back in the days.. it's a really amazing experience!

Any projects that have a sizeable total addressable market is always a good start. Then see if the project can actually address the pain point of the market. I personally see several Chinese projects to be quite promising, like Tron, Liuliang Ore etc. Think like an investor, and don't just aim for short term gains!

Agreed, OMG is already up quite a bit now. Probably a bit too risky to enter a position right now.

Great project! I truly like the idea that Blocklancer will be disrupting a trillion dollar market. It will be interesting to see how successful this project is!

I would like to know how Blocklancer can compete/differentiate itself from other "freelancing technologies", e.g. Storm?

Wish you guys all the best!

This is a great idea, and I'm quite interested in your in-house intelligent system, TargetX.

However, what is the status on TargetX? Is it built yet? When will the technology be implemented?

Overall, I really like this project; best of luck!

Re: What are your strategies to make money in cryptocurrency? Heres mine:

It's always worth building a portfolio of bitcoin and altcoin. Technical analysis is good for coins with larger market cap, but it may be difficult to perform an analysis on new/small caps. For altcoins, look for technology that really stands out or something that you're interested in; I personally like Ardor, Golem etc., but there are plenty others that have huge growth opportunities as well.

Lastly, always manage your risks! It's always better to miss out on an opportunity, than to lose everything in a poor investment.
