Just in case anyone else has this issue, I was messing with GUIMiner and it somehow changed my proxy setting. I unchecked the proxy, restarted bitcoin, and things started working again.

[WTB] BTC with USD, multiple payment methods available incl. Dwolla.
by
akinnee
on 26/10/2012, 02:37:51 UTC
I can provide lots of proof of my identity including the following:
  • My Domain / Server (I'll upload a file to prove it's me)
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Google+
  • Screenshots of the inside of any of those as well as my Dwolla acct.

Any other ideas? That's all I can think of at the moment.

Anyway, I would like to purchase some bitcoin, so anyone who's willing to sell to me would pretty much be my hero at this point. bitinstant is down, Mt. Got basically requires a DNA sample on file (yes, I actually gave them all my info, including an ID, then found out about the Dwolla 30 days restriction).

I can pay with Dwolla if you know how to accept a payment from me without the 30 day restriction. I still have about 7 days left before the restriction is lifted.
Otherwise, I have the following payment options:
  • PayPal
  • Google Wallet / Google Checkout
  • Amazon Personal Payments
  • Square account to Square account

Let me know if you have any other suggestions...

Thanks!

Re: Looking for someone to create/modify software for this forum [3600+ BTC]

Me / Bid: I am a very experienced web application developer based in the US. I can complete this project for the equivalent of $7000 in bitcoin (~583 today) and the project will take approximately 3-4 months to complete. All debugging will be completed and a bug report feature will be included in the event that anything is missed.

Features: I can mirror all the current SMF features as well as the new features/ways of doing things that you outlined.

Security / Maintainability / Code: Your new site/forum solution will be built using a very secure PHP development framework which I am very familiar and experienced with. The project will be developed using MVC programming methodology, a common and proven structured programming technique. Function names and parameters will be consistent throughout the program. It will be easily modifiable and maintainable to anyone with knowledge of PHP and MVC. I can also implement AJAX functionality for quick edit, etc.

License: I will retain ownership of the code to sell, reuse, or repackage. You will receive a license to use it indefinitely on any Bitcoin Talk domain (1 production installation and as many development/test installations as you need). You will be allowed to modify it in any way but not to share or sell it.

Database: I use MySQL, my queries and database structure are VERY FAST! I promise!

UI / UX: I'm all about minimalism and user experience. No problem making it look like this and making it skinnable. I've done all of that before and I am a master with CSS.

Groups: Groups will be customizable, but I'll create the predefined groups you asked for.

Stats: No problem, I'm an expert when it comes to reporting.

Limits: All routine things you're asking for, no problem!

Registration / OpenID: Everything looks good here.

Everything you've outlined here is possible and won't be an issue. Please get back to me soon if you intend on hiring me for this project. I will provide you with my resume and examples of my work.

Want to buy bitcoin with Dwolla

So I made my first deposit in Dwolla on 10/1/2012, and I can't wait any longer... the 30 day wait to deposit to bitcoin exchanges is a little excessive. I mean, two week would be understandable but 30 days is a little overkill. Check out the screenshot so you can see that I indeed have a valid funding source set up.

Anyway, I am looking for a forum member who is willing to sell me some bitcoin (around 5 bitcoin). Please don't reply unless you can provide a WOT profile or something similar to prove you are not a scammer.

I know a lot more about bitcoin than the average member. I studied computer networking, security, and programming. I've done > 8 hours of reading on bitcoin, exchanges, etc. and have traded over $200 of bitcoin via MoneyGram (bitinstant) and VirWox in Second Life. I am familiar with several clients and online wallet services (such as Electrum and Blockchain, the two I use). I am also familiar with setting up an account on Mt. Gox and Dwolla.
