I think your blockhain file is corrupted (first block is bad). Try to delete the blockchain files and resync (backup your wallet.dat file always!) . Did you shutdown your machine while the client is running ?
I probably did. Does anyone know where the blockchain files are saved by default? I have my wallet.dat file.

Suddenly getting this error trying to open the wallet. Anyone seen this? I excluded the folder from Windows Defender, no luck.
Is the redeemed amount effectively the circulating supply? And no more coins will be created, meaning the only way to raise the circulating supply is for more to be redeemed?
that's correct. No more coins will be created (ever).
