Re: Dayun Zig Z1 - Lyra2Rev2 6.8GH/s Asic miner

Gday i have been having an odd problem with one of my 2 zig z1 miners. i have been running bitmain psu one apw7 and one apw3++ on the problem miner.

The apw7  started to trip my earth leakage breaker so was removed from service. The last week i have had the apw3++ set off the breaker in my power board adaptor (has a small lead and four plugs on it). I thought nothing of it until i went in and reset it a second time and noticed all the black pcie pins were cooked going to the hashboards. And one was so bad it was a fair effort to remove from the unit.

Basically i am wondering if this is the unit or a power supply issue as id rather not keep burning out power supplies. Also is it possible to change the pcie 6 pin males on the bitmain psu?

Should also mention i have had these miners for about a year now, And the second miner is perfect. Also I am in Australia so running 240v.

Any feedback or help is appreciated thanks.

Iam having increasing troubles with these miners im pretty sure it is software. I have made numerous usb back ups and rewrites one miner runs fine whilst the other runs for a few days and starts faulting. with the good miner i have made an image from it but it is now over 15gb where as all the others have been under 8Gb. is there a dump or such file i can delete to get it down to a smaller size or is my best bet going to be start fresh? Iam still  using the 930 update as this was the last one where overclocking actually worked.

Thanks.

Good day to you all.

I Currently have 2 of the Zig z1 miners and they are pretty trash due to hashrate all over the place and no support anymore for update and other issues.

Im wondering if any one here has both miners or the fusion silicon one how they find them? stable hash rate and good UI?

what are you guys finding most profitable currently w/ this miner?

Probably nicehash, when you aim to get btc at the end...

Using the minerstat site blockmasters has consistently been the highest pool for the last few weeks. While sometimes individual coins will be higher.

Does the new version overclock like 930 did?

fan speed  was added in the last version 1116

I would like to see a changelog. As far as I can see, there is a fan speed option now.

thanks to @zigminer

this image is different feature of fan. previous image has fan off function. this one has fan speed control.

No improvement of hash rate and stability. Just fan adjustmen.

:: ZigMiner has been damaging to its customers by selling a lot of devices. (disagree every maker sells as many miners as possible its just like everything else in life they want to make money as well. No one forced you to buy one or any asic)

:: The company's very weak support is unhappy with all customers. ( agree it is very poor but not unusual for a chinese company.)

:: The supplied devices have many problems, and software support is very weak. (agree and disagree. yes it has lots of problems but has been multiple updates since release and now zigminer is on the forum mayee it will get better. they have taken some advice from here already.)

:: No tips for hardware issues (agree a user manual would of been nice early days but pretty much every thing can be found here.)

:: And many other problems ...

@zigminer

Please dont make or sell more of zig z1 machine  the difficulty of  has gone too high and can't withstand more  the profit has decreased   significantly i assumed u are scam i hope im wrong

Are you still not sure?
Certainly ZigMiner is a big scammer and is now not even responding to us.

This is the biggest scam in the history of crypto currencies, and its defamation will forever be for Zigminer

The ZigMiner Company has proved with this device that it will never be reliable, I and other customers of company will never again rejoice at this , and we will never forget our big losses.

I think you need to remember you are owed nothing in life. if the asic pays for it self in a year you are doing well. every asic that is purchased is a gamble unless you have free power. any coin can fork and cause it to become a brick just look at sia they forked so only their own miners worked and how fast is there profit falling?

Reading through this chat makes me think.

Are people investing the first time in ASIC´s?
Do they even know what an ASIC is?
Do they know why the profits are dropping and that the manufacturer can´t do jack shit about it?
Dont´t they know that the company is the only guys which are earning something on those things if they sell them for 4000-7500 + never stop selling them?
Do people just look at the first Profit calculation and go all in before doing any research at all?

I think  you are one of zig mainer employers who is siding with them when we pay 6000$ for a asic we expect to make this back in less than a year not that it would take two years  to just make up the money for the device and thats not even guaranteed

It certainly seems you are correct about some of the people that have posted here may not of thought to hard before buying.
That being said though if the machine had been stable i would personally be happier. But i knew it wouldnt stay at $70 a day for ever i would of liked a week or two longer but Hcap forking through a spanner in the works.
as you say the massive profit has very little to do with the maker and was going to happen sooner especially due to vertcoin being on of the coins mined and being very anti asic.

I went oc and edit. Turned auto on and set to 1000mhz

Wich version of 0930 did you use to put on 1000mhz? Stable that you edit or the OC?

New Firmware 20181116 - Overclocking bye bye

How do i know that? Very easy...

I made a lot of tests about OC
You can check it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5038441.msg46842719#msg46842719

Before my miner stopped working (Fan Check Problem - now solved with version 20181116), i was running Firmware 20180930.
Firmware 20189030 was the first version with a working overclocking.

----------------------------------------------
All Firmware before 20180930
@900MHz: ~6GH/s using ~1200W
@1000Mhz: ~6GH/s using ~1200W
You can set the MHz at 1000, it shows 100Mhz on the Mainpage of the miner BUT it does not work.

----------------------------------------------
Firmware 20180930
@900MHz: ~6,5GH/s using ~1200W
@1000Mhz: ~7,1GH/s using ~1400W (Chips ~3-4°C hotter)

Working OC, needing more power and getting a bit hotter...perfect.

----------------------------------------------
Firmware 20181116
@900MHz: ~6GH/s using less then 1200W
@1000Mhz: ~6GH/s using less then 1200W
You can set the MHz at 1000, it shows 100Mhz on the Mainpage of the miner BUT it does not work.

----------------------------------------------

So we are back to square one with the performance of the miner...

Don't get me wrong @Zigminer
I'm happy that you solved my problem with the Fan Check option.
But...yeah, the performance is gone cuz we can't overclock the miner with this firmware.

Edit:
And i have again the problem that at some point the hashrate goes down and i need to restart the miner so many times b4 it's back to normal.

I went the oc one and got thee json file and set auto to on and clock to 1000. Temps went up and so has poolside hashrate

Personally i have gone back to version 930 so i can overclock my miners and monitor the temps. Luckily i haven't had the fan issue so i dont need to run the most recent version. My miners are Z1 though.

For the Zig Z1+ - I installed 20181116 and am only hashing around 6.0-6.2 Gh/s between 800-925Mhz...not consistent rates across different pools...have done the soft resets, pulled the power and waited, etc.

Of the four firmware releases - 20181015, 20181029, 20181105, 20181116 - is there one in particular that seems to be the "best" from a high hashrate and consistency standpoint?  I'm considering flashing back down to an earlier version, but would love to save the time if anyone has thoughts here.

930 has 2 versions for Zig Z1, overclock and stable . Which one do you use for 1000Mhz ? I tried both one but my hashboards go to yellow and then red lots of hw errors. So i upgraded to last firmware. I dont know why i cant run 3009

Up until this version i have never had a problem with mounting the software and the miner will work fine. I also have to switch them to the .0 range but iam aware of that so its not that. most time i can use imageusb be to reformat. i ended up using one of my old versions i had saved on a usb and getting the miner to work that way. after all the dramas last night i still havent gotten 1116 to work

For me its always a bit hard to get the usb formatted, but once this hapend and all partitions are gone , stick is clean, i can just write the image with the .exe provided and the miner works? Ow i always have to change the ip from the .1 to the .0 range again... but once that is done im back online Smiley im running the new firmware atm and it works. Strange thing is i cant format my usb with my desktop windows 10 but when i plug it in a old laptop it works... via dos. Cmd diskpart list disk select disk "x" clean.

EDIT: when i try in my desktop the usb apears and disapears again... when i try in an old laptop it stays sometimes 😂 maybe someone can provide me a better solution to clean the usb? Anyway once cleaned write is no issue
Add me to the list of people that cant get 1116 to mount or if it does mount the miner wont work. I have tried downloading image.usb from the passmark site and still have issues V1.4 and v1.3. Have tried multiple usbs and still no luck. I have even tried to remount old stored version i have saved on my pc and they wont mount either. It also appears to always be the same things that fail to verify.
