I would call that an ecological disaster.

Actually old trees are pretty much done when it comes to soaking up carbon. New trees soak it up quite a bit as they grow. Clearing out old trees and planting new is good for the planet.

You are delusional... I will explain it to you later why... But till then.. look at these assholes taking their trophy kill picture:

I laughed, thanks.
Bitcoin has it ups and downs but this thread never disappointed me when I wanted to get some fun.

Interesting thoughts from all of you.

What we can say for sure is that Bitcoin has various appealing advantages. Or that at least the perception of these advantages are very different.

Closing the poll in a few days. My report will be submited in early september, i will post some results here if there is interest.

Excellent poll choices. I wish there was a choice for "side step KYC", but I guess "decentralization" and "ease of access" covered that.

Thanks ! I appreciate, but i also had nice inputs from the community.

Perhaps we need a definition of what "low transaction fees" means. Low compared to other payment methods? For what amount?

Because personally I would consider even $5 / tx to be a low transaction fee. Others may think 0.2$ / tx is no longer a low transaction fee.

My point of view, is that transaction fees does not include the block subsidy of 25 BTC. It is the small network fee that would speed up the process. I consider that as long as it is ten times cheaper than CC's it is a valide point.

My report points out the huge fees and risk of credit cards.

Keep the votes coming Smiley

Thanks for your inputs and comments.

Obviously we can agree that people are here for various reasons, Bitcoin has more than one advantage over Fiat or other payment methods.

I don't feel that Being a new technology and the fact that this brings in Hipsters can be considered as a competitive advantage Snorek. However i agree with the fact that it is in opposition with Fiat currencies,. This is why i used the term Scarcity.

I agree with ease of access.

Keep going, and thanks to the people who answered.

Good evening fellow Bitcoiners,

What are your thoughts about it?

Thanks Smiley

Thanks for setting this up, i've responded to the poll.

My thoughts are simple, once you finish your research paper could you please post it somewhere in this forum for us all to read? We give you our thoughts, our ideas, our votes, and our time and it's very fair for us to expect to see the analysis and conclusions you make from the data we've provided.

Please share with us your conclusions so the entire community can benefit from your work (and our contribution)!

Thanks Smiley

Well, this is obviously something that can be done, but in order to rely on this poll i will need quite a few more answers. I also interviewed a few experts about this subject, this poll is to confirm my analysis.

There should also be an option for decentralization.
Most important to me is that I can be independent of merchants for my transactions.

Added, thanks for your input !

Good evening fellow Bitcoiners,

I am writing a research paper on the dematerialization of Money for a business case.

We need you Bitcoiners to answer this question and if you feel that something is missing, let me know !

I feel that Bitcoin will thrive because consumers/users will embrace the currency if they find some use to it. It is a superior form of payment even if it is not ready for mainstream applications yet.

What are your thoughts about it?

Thanks Smiley

That's what i thought also. Everyone knows greeks are not the ones who bought Bitcoin recently.

Price moved maybe a bit because of what happened in Greece, but obvious manipulation is obvious.

I don't know what to think of it yet, but we will know soon enough. All the sell orders in the 280$ level are not making us drop, we had around 5-6k btc dumped in small increments of 100-200 BTC.

It's easy for the manipulator, he dumps 4k btc in one shot, sets his bot to buy all the coins in the 280-285$ area, when price recovers a bit, re-dump.. Easy Money.

Bitcoin is going up since OXI (no) was said to be the winner by various polls. The small pump started when the first results were given, but it is not settled yet, it can still change.

Hahaha those walls on finex..
Nice try bear, hope you'll get your cheap coins, in that case i'll be buying it in the way down.

Major banks are on this (Yeah i work for one of those), and Bitcoin is on their radar. Sick of having those Bitcoinferences over there with people that think they understand how it works, when they simply don't after a few noteventechnical questions. Seriously I haven't seen people interested like this since a while.

Lets see if your attempt to keep it down will work. Too much good news, too much interest from big players, good luck and have fun.
I dont think you're seeing this correctly.. the same guy with the bid walls has the ask walls. The huge bid walls are part of what led the price up, now we see they are fake. Possible bull trap? Lots of shorts closed when those bidwalls popped up.

Yeah well i am used to seeing (but sadly never touching) way bigger amounts of Fiat moving around. Bitcoin is just a drop in the bucket, but you know this. Having just investment banking interested is a huge milestone that we reached a few months ago. Obviously if someone did not get that the 20k buywall we have been seeing since a few days was fake, then they would not get this. Thing is, interest is growing, people are betting on Bitcoin as a whole, bitcoin is included as the first application of this technology. More to come, it is not dying as far as i know, i have never seen it being that "Alive" in my day to day life.

Why? Look at Nxt. It is clearly the next Generation of Crypto Currency. Where does this leading position come from? Definitly someone, who is involved in Crypto-Dev for a long time. Someone for whom Bitcoin is from yesterday. Nxt is Ethereum..right now Smiley  Grin

Nxt isn't ground breaking enough to be called "next generation of cryto". PoW is still better than PoS, if you weight in all the pros and cons.. dont get me wrong NXT is great, but not enough to dethrone BTC.

Not groundbreaking enough?

Voting, asset exchange, monetary system, plug-ins...

What do you need? gosh, have you seen the wallet? Compare it to bitcoin QT !

When i see the debate around the block size in bitcoin, you just can't say this. Nxt is one of the few decentralized coins that keeps innovating, over and over, despite the bitcointalk trolls.

Edit:  Safari on my iPhone works, but IE, Chrome, FF doesn't work on my desktop on two separate computers.

So 2013, it's not the mtgox era anymore.

Well, today with the Greek April fool's joke i received an internal email from one of the people in my company. It was another april fool joke using bitcoin, it was sent to the whole company.

Mainstream? It's starting, let them laugh, my first reaction was to send the guy a bitcoin Tip. Funny day.

Low Price?

I dont think 1 cent per coin with a billion M-Cap is low.

Yeah, just like Bitcoin is waaaay overpriced ! 19Millions of them in a few years, that's too much.
Stupid thinking. This has nothing to do with the price, Bitshares has 2.5 billions, it must be crazily overvalued.

Network, tech, Whales, exchanges manipulation, early adopters make the price.

I have a feeling that support from a company or one move from a state will change the game.
ETF, Changetip mass adoption, Paypal , i have no clue what will ignite the next growth stage...

In 2014 the network strengthened itself a lot, the number of bitcoin startups is climbing every day, if this is not a growing technology what is. But it takes time, and this year did not break bitcoin as a medium of exchange and payment system. But it was a bad year as a speculative investment if you just bought in.

So yeah, i'm pretty confused about the trend right now, but bottom might have been found. What else can you expect after a year of gradual decline? A new high in a matter of weeks? I would prefer a stable period of growth. More and more people get the bitcoin bug each day.
