The new beta version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.7a from here:

PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Windows.zip (GitHub)
PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Linux.tar.gz (GitHub)

The new features in this release are:

  • Added lock core clock
  • The problem with the missing GPU temperatures on Nvidia GPUs is fixed
  • Added native kernels for AMD RX6700 GPUs. These are faster than the generic kernels and produce a lot less stale shares
  • Increase the max supported DAG epoch to 550 (should be enough to about Jan 2023)
  • Full support for setting clocks, fan speeds, voltages, and memory timings of AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards
  • The specific hashrate is now shown in the form of kilo hashes per joule (kH/J). Example: if a GPU has hashrate of 30 MH/s with 100W power usage, the specific hashrate is 300 kH/J
  • Added new command-line parameters -ttj and -ttmem, allowing automatic fan speed control based on GPU hotspot (junction), and memory temperatures respectively. Example: -ttmem 83 will keep the GPU memory temperature at or bellow 83C by increasing the fan speed as necessary. These parameters can be combined with -tt, as well as with each other. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added new command-line parameters -tmaxj and -tmaxmem, allowing to decrease the GPU usage when the GPU hotspot (junction), or GPU memory temperatures are above the specified thresholds. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers 21.3.2, and 21.3.1
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers 20.50.x. Use this drivers only if you have Polaris or older GPUs, or the latest RX6x000 GPUs. WARNING: Vega, Radeon VII, and Navi GPUs won't work with these drivers!
  • Turn off the zero fan feature on AMD cards whenever a fixed fan speed is used (e.g. -tt -40), or when an auto fan with min fan speed is used (e.g. -tt 63 -minfan 35). To disable this feature, add -fanstop 1 command-line parameter
  • When -mcdag 1 is specified under Linux, the miner will not wait for the daggen.sh script to finish before starting to generate the DAGs. Instead it will for a fixed 7 seconds. This allows you to do all the following in the daggen.sh: turn off the overclocking of Nvidia GPUs, sleep for 30-60 seconds to allow time for DAG generation, and then re-apply the overclocking of the Nvidia GPUs
  • Other small improvements and fixes

The support for -ttj, -ttmem, -tmaxj, and -tmaxmem for Nvidia 3090 and 3080 GPUs is not yet ready for release. We hope to have it ready for the final 5.7 release.

For more robust integrity check, you can use our GPG public key, which was verifyed with ETH transaction from our main devfee account as explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg56755869#msg56755869.

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.7a.

Hi,

I've done some work on s15, opening ssh and overclocking it: https://youtu.be/UJv6rrUNU60

Your mod might work similarly, a video would be welcome to see that it's actually doing something.

My suggestion is to keep this under control, small miners can open ssh with serial console easily if they need it badly, but it will be a pain for big mining facilities if this gets fixed in new hardware and firmware.

Good luck with whatever you're trying to do, but make sure you're not releasing "Just another fishing trojan" and mean it when you say you want to do some good to the community.

... Of course Bitmain COULD learn from computer history (at least since the 80ies) and drop the stupidity already. OR people could vote with their wallets and buy MicroBT, Canaan Creative, etc.

I somehow disagree with that. I though in the past that I will be helping the community by making a video on how to compile Bmminer because github docs from bitmain were unbiguous then after a short while, "custom" firmware were popping like mushrooms. Took the video down for a while but others started to repost the video cuz they saved it.

Sometimes it's better not to mess with things because you might do more harm than the intended good.

IMHO at least, other might disagree because they need such solution. I am part of the asicfreeware.io telegram chat where there's a bounty for opening s15.

I actually been part of developing a solution to overclock s15, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbriKlQ-2hg done it, but too less people participated to the bounty and it does not make any sense to release it for free if people don't actually need it as it might be used in other harming ways in the future. I figure if people really needed such solution, would've donated at least $5 for seeing this project go together. The bounty is pretty much stuck and John and Scott put quite some work in promoting this stuff.

So my giveaway for this is becareful what you wish for. Smiley

Heat Water Mining BTC - Seeking Investors - Prototype Done
by

Hi,

My name is Alex, I have converted a mining equipment to be water cooled and it has a great potential
to be used as a water boyler which mines BTC.

I started working on this project last year. I already work with an investor which funded the R&D and partially
the first version of the device. I also put my own money into this project, 9 000 USD, total invested so far $30 000 and
6 months of work, iterating over 3 versions of waterblocks and configurations.

Right now we are looking for an investor which can bring this project to the next level, we have the software and hardware skills,
but we need to purchase equipment to manufacture the parts locally in order to get them to the customer at a decent price
in order to perform mass sale. I have machining skills, I own 1 cnc machine but is not capable of fast milling and provide the finishing
required for mass production.

The amount we are looking is between 50 000 and 300 000 USD . 50 000 would allow setting up an assembly line and parially producing
the needed parts. We have a business plan put together and will be shared with the potential investors.

Here are some videos of the project:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzT9tHKKXVk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RU2ueuEW6cM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti93sjGL3LY

If we get our own manufacturing line, we can fast develop solutions for other miners including the newest boards for S15 from Bitmain.

Drop a reply of PM if you are interested or join this discord channel:

I wish you the best!

Re: BitCrack - A tool for brute-forcing private keys

Might just be quicker to hash out new addresses en-masse then use a checking script to check if any of your generated addresses have balances already. You have a better chance hitting the lottery 20 weeks in a row, than finding any sizable amount in billions of keys.

-MisterCoin

That's how brainflayer works, does the address generation in batches, then turns it loose and compares the hits in a bloom filter which is a single cycle check, production of addresses from priv-key (guesses) is best done in 8192 batches, having a bloom filter on board GPU allows 150m/sec, no problem on 1060 class card

I suggest studying 'vanity gen' gutting all the vanity bullshit and hacking the gpu code to just generate batches and verify in the bloom-filter that a high-value address was found, then print the private-key, the hardest part of this task is getting the bloom filter on board the gpu, limit is 1/2mb for 1060, and about 1gb ( malloc() alloc per chunk ), so with a 1080 you bloom can do about 50 million addresse verification on one check.

www.inflection.top

The worst thing about 'bitcrack' is that you can't find anything doing a linear brute force search, you block-generation of private-key candidates must be an intelligent search, and the public key guesses must be based on a known DLP algo

It's impossible to hit specific private keys using linear brute force, if all the atoms in universe ( 10**72 ) were cpus using this code (bitcrack), they would still have difficulty find a key match, if you only have 10k gpu class machines running, then it would take 10**48 years to find your key.

There is a reason crypto scientists call it 'brute force', brute is code for moron, only a moron de-crypts in this manner.

Thanks for sharing! I think indeed that this might be a better approach. I am giving this a try as well.

Very much appreciated! The donations are going towards new hardware, as I only have a GeForce GT 640 and Radeon 280X at the moment.

You are welcome! I played a bit with the gpu code, that is rocketship code for me, but I managed to understand that I cannot change it easily to
do random addresses as the stride is set at the initialization of the GPU node (not even sure if it's possible or if it's pheasible with the way gpu work is done). So I will use at intended Smiley. I set a random stride and nextKey using the generatePrivateKey(); so it generates a new set everytime the app is launched and counts at the random next key.

I am using GTX 690X, launched the app twice, with 1 app per node (gtx 690 has 2 nodes) and I am getting a total of 80 Mh/s.

I though it would be cool to link this with the blocksci, but I think the way you made it work with loading the list into the memory of the GPU is much more efficient than doing queries to blocksci.

Best of luck with your project, it's very nice of you that you shared the code, as I see it was a lot of work involved.

how to work "Customize the fan speed percentage" item ?
i have t9+ , but my fan speed not change by change this item !!
i test 10 , 20 , .... , 150 and more for this field  Huh Embarrassed

Hi, I have not tested that feature on T9+ unfortunately. Might be different because of the controller.

Ya, it's actually the LPM which doesn't like overclocking on some boards, especially the 13.5 machines or older 14TH.

I plan on putting some more work into finding a solution for this in the following weeks, until then, the best solution for LPM is
the original firmware on bitmain without overclock.

There are some users which were lucky and it worked, so always test on a few machines before mass deployment.

Hi Alex,

This last firmware not work with S9i. Do you have source code on your code? provide-me and i made a correction.

Regards.

J-F Aubin

Hi, make sure you flash the original firmware before applying this patch, may users had other overclocking mods which are
not allowing this one to work. You can either reset to factory or flash the autotune version for your miner.

There's no source code for this yet, I was able to disable fan check by modifying binary code and to overclock from the single board test.
Single board test code is available on bitmain github, and you apply same changes that I've applied on my video for bmminer.
The fan disable version is not made public, if offered only paid by PM or discord.

Good luck!

I did it but remember you had to replace my PIC32 making the boards out of use: s

I think you tried when the tool was not detecting which miner version it is, s9 or t9. The latest one will know which bmminer to copy.

Hi, ok it's working I do not test then ...

I have moved forward again, and I have "unblock" the display of the PCB temperature in the minor status instead of "Temp (chip1)"Wink it works well: p

2nd, would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot of an overclocked T9 +? I want to change the tenssion of my T9 +! : p and if you would have a log of the kernel where you can see the tenssion modify?

thank you Wink

Hi, I do not have any screenshots saved of the kernel logs. You can install on a machine and check it out yourself.

Yes, do you think i'm ready to test this mod on T9+ without bmminer ?

I don't think it will work, single board test was compiled for S9. There are different options for T9+.

yes i agree !! but i using one bmminer original (no compiled by me) , i don't think that problem for other machine (may be i don't reason), on my S9 i tested 7 x bmminer, i try man !!! lol

on the other hand I am disappointed that no more people try your mod Sad on paper it is the best for my taste!

Try getting the single-board test from the package and the rest of the files and use your original bmminer with it. Single-board test should be able to overclock any bmminer

About people no trying the mod, probably because I am a newbie on this forum, and there are more established threads with overclocking topic.

Good luck!

Hi ! i tested your firmware, but i'm sorry din't working for me... only 11 200Gh/s at 725mhz and set 900mv Sad

no subject, i continue to dev my code, and now i'm ready to change voltage by 5mv .... for exemple i tested 885mv, 890mv, 895mv and more ! well done ! perfect working ! and show on kernel log (and verify by my power plug counter)

Ya.. it's triky to get it working on some machines, needs debuging when is not working. We usually do a lot of tests for the farms we work with on deploying custom firmware. Good luck with your code! It's always the best to choose the tools that works for your case as what worked for others might not work for you.

Not LPM ... but I use the last official BMMINER of an S9 without changing it, and he finds, by chance, he accepts the change of tenssion! : d

I just work a few hours (to find the apel code), the advantage is that the BMMINER is the last, so compatible with any hashboard (i think),

on the other hand, I tried my mod, but with another BMMINER, but that does not change the tenssion ...

I am currently running a 13.5 to 15.3Th / 1600W / 725mhz / 900mv

In my tests I was using 675, getting ~14.2 with 1350W and 890mv on a 13.5 old machine on antpool or btc.com, slush doesn't like LPM yet. The wattage varies from machine to machine, mainly
lower Voltages will use less power.

ha !!! All my excuses, I saw in the kernel that the tenssion did not change, so I did not bother to continue my test: s

On the other hand, after many tests, I am happy to say that I just finished my code on "set-miner-config" and "minerconfiguration.cgi" which works perfectly with a BMMINER of ogirine, I manage to take the control freq, fan, and tenssion, all with the right temperature card, and everything is well displayed in kernel log !!! I'm happy: p

but your LPM OC deserves that I look more closely !!!, if this is independent of BMMINER, then it should be compatible T9 +? without copying bmminer of corse;) I always try to increase the tenssion on a T9 +;)

Glad to hear you work on your version as well. Let me know how your version works, it's indeed nice if you can set it just from the minerconfiguration.cgi, I did not check that as there are some funky ways of setting voltage on the PIC. Does your version work with LPM as well ?

Good luck!

I try this on my S9 13.5Th, by flashing on interface web.

Freq and asicboost work perfect ! but not voltage Sad ...

I set 700mhz and 900mv and apply , the miner boot correctly at 700mhz but 870mv ...

Hi, the voltage and freq is being set from outside bmminer on this version because of the closed source code which was not released yet, you are not going to see in the logs of bmminer saying the voltage. You will see a message called Custom Overwrite set pic voltage=%d on chain[%d] where the logs for bmminer starts after it finished booting.

The nice part of this firmware mod is that it should work with any version of bmminer, just replace the single-bard test file (and the interface files) on your regular firmware and is going to overclock voltage and freq, making it
easier for those antminer s9 versions which were not compatible with the open source firmware.
