The new version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.8a from here:

https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Windows.zip
https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Linux.tar.gz

Changes in version 5.8a :
  • Added lock core clock
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RTX 3060/3080/3090 cards
  • Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will
provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
  • Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
  • Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -
cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
  • Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will
be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with -clkernel 0 anymore)
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.8.1. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher - you need to use older drivers for proper
    operation of these cards
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20). Note that the latest 21.30 drivers are
not supported (and the initial testing shows that even the older Polars cards are not working properly with them, so avoid 21.30 for now)
  • Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.8a

Hey guys,
I have a rig consisting of 6 x RX 480s and I recently moved them to a rack where there is no HDMI display. When I set it to mine it starts mining, but the fans don't speed up what so ever, but because there is no extended display on one of the GPUs, I can not edit the fan speed (have tried the inbuilt fan speed setter thing and msi after burner). I have tried changing  Primary VGA (or what ever it was) to PCIE, however I just get a blank screen (so I unplug the GPUS to change it back to the IGPU).

My questions are:
- Why can't I set the fan speed
- Why can't I set Primary VGA to PCI E without just getting a blank screen.

My Rig has:
6 RX 480s
4GB ddr3 ram
Asrock H81 pro btc
1600 w PSU (yes ik it's overkill)
powered pci e risers

Thanks

Edit: I just found HDMI Emulators, I think these would work. I would buy this if there aren't any other soloutions.

^You aren't only one with Tonga.

It's true that this chip is inferior than Tahiti's, but man 160 hash/s is pretty low. Make it at least 220-230 h/s.
(no money for polaris).
How come?

plug 1 480 into x16 slot, boot into w10 using igpu, check to see if the 480, or unidentified device/generic video adapter is in device manager

Tried this it knows there is a gpu ,but says it's a general vga gpu or somthing, the miner doesn't recognise it nor does windows or msi afterburner.

Does amd driver installer detect it? DDU all your drivers and run the installer, if it gives you an option to install the driver at all then it means it does, and proceed with reinstallation (can try a dif version as well--try 16.7)

if that doesnt work, run the amd installer once so it extracts driver files to the specified destination (generally program files/amd or program files(x86)/amd), then use device manager to manually search for drivers in the aforementioned directories (try both--just select the directory, it will automatically search it)

Hey cheers for the advice
Thank you so much!!
I don't really know what I did, I turned it on pressed lookup on gpu z and it actually started working! However now I tried to install a modded bios (copied 1750 mem timings to 2000)and basically it works and is identified as an rx 480 but it says "code 43 the device is not functioning correctly" in device manager or something along the lines of that, so I tried opening gpu-z it works and shows it is an rx 480, but doesn't display core and memory clocks, so I re-flashed the original bios.
Any help with flashing a new bios and get it recognised would be much appreciated!

are you using 17.1+ drivers now? because those won't work with modded bios.
besides that you might need to wait for windows to reinitiate the driver after rebooting since it will treat the modding the bios as a different card
if something doesn't work, first thing to try is DDU and reinstalling the driver to any version from 16.7 to 16.12

Tried this I was using 16.12.2 now i'm using 16.11 or something like that.
Cheers!

Damn it, I find new assembler tricks every day. I want to use them all, this causes new delays again and again. All these things take too much time.
Right now I can release an update with speedup for Hawaii cards but I had no time to add new tricks to other cards, I need a couple days for that. So no update today Sad

Have you tested any new drivers? Would be nice to be able to just run the 17.x drivers across all cards to uniform rigs. Perhaps someone else here has some info statistics for 200/300/400 series cards using latest AMD Drivers? (this 15.12, 16.3 etc. driver mixing is driving me bonkers!)
If we did that though I don't think we would be able to mod the bios because AMD disabled bios editing in 16.12.1
Correct me if i'm wrong though.

Sure here goes

Unplug the molex to mobo wires Tried This didn't work

Do 1 gpu. Use the pcie riser closest to the CPU see if it works just 1 gpu. Tried this didn't work

Install all drivers and get it mining. Just the one card.Tried This didn't work

If that does not work install one gpu in the full slot.doesn't work even in the full 16x slot

Fully install drivers and get it mining.

Other tricks what are your gpus.

Do they have a dvi connector .  If so buy a dvi to hdmi connector. DVI didn't work

Many times. Dvi to hdmi works.

The cables are cheap.

If the gpus only have hdmi out along with display out ports use a display to hdmi cable as sometimes that works.

I have hdmi to display
Hdmi to dvi
Display to dvi

And they get past a lot of connection issues.

Three adapters are all under 10 bucks.

Does your display have dvi and hdmi?

Cheers for the help though!

H81 Pro BTC not recognising GPUs

I just got an H81 Pro BTC and installed windows using the igpu then I tried to install my RX 480s and they didn't work.

So far I have tried:
plugged in both the molex connectors
Clearing the cmos
reFlashing the bios
Tried to put the one 480 directly on the 16x pcie connector
Set pcie to Gen 1 and Gen 2
Tried different risers
Tried different HDMI cable

I did actually get it to work and got really excited, I then installed the drivers and restarted, but then it stopped working.

Do i have a defective mother board?

My rig:
1600w EVGA PSU
6 RX 480
Intel G1840
4gb ddr3 ram
H81 Pro BTC
6 powered risers
128 gb ssd

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
