I really hope there will be an iOS wallet as well, when you finish working on the android one  Smiley

Yes as Android is Java and Swift is Java based for iOS. Also we have an API iOS wallet we have half finished and is awaiting the REST API's completion.

nice! so is the half finished api iOS wallet different from the other iOS one based on android?

So the community is aware, the Sterlingcoin 1.5 version wallet is being worked on and will be a hard fork to correct low PoS payments.

The hard fork will be timed to be 40,000 blocks from the release date to give people more than enough time to update.

Low pos payments? whats up with it?

The PoS payouts are not paying out as frequently as they should be, but this will be fixed and the new wallet will be released ASAP.
is this something that recently started going on or has it always been like that?

how can my stake weight be higher than the network stake weight? or is the network weight calculated by taking everyone's whole weight minus my own?

Quite simply, it can't be. Maybe your wallet isn't synced or hasn't staked for a while. Start staking and after you find your first PoS block check the weights again.

yeah, I haven't staked for a while and when I opened the wallet and synced, it showed my stake weight was about 1M and network's was about 850k. Staked a few blocks and now it shows my weight is 750k and network's is about 800k.

Hello everyone. Well, the weekend was really good. Met with a lot of like minding individuals and made some excellent connections and some awesome deals whilst there. I had a meeting with Jean-Pierre and Serge and because of this discussion CryptoArticles and Sterlingcoin are now media partners (more info to come on that).

One talk I attended was from Nicolas Bacca of Ledger Wallet on hardware/software private key storage security and his answer to this problem, the Ledger Wallet Nano. We have now got a prototype called the Ledger Wallet Proton which is just for developers and also a Ledger Wallet Nano and are adapting their software for Sterlingcoin. Also after talking with Nicolas Bacca the CTO we will be reselling the devices via our webstore.

Had a discussion with Dogecoin Core Developer Ross Nicol about decentralised exchanges and from that conversation Johnathan Turrall and Ross Nicol are helping one another with the issue and this should hopefully accelerate the launch of MetaLair.

LazyCoins attended the expo and we had a very good conversation which has led to the addition of Sterlingcoin to their exchange. The owners seem to have the same ethos as us and that is to have a trustworthy platform providing a strong service.

All 100 of the London Bitcoin Expo 2015 Limited Edition Sterlingcoin Cryptocards were given out but I do have some t-shirts left over which are available at a reduced price of £7.99 + £1.99 Shipping and can be paid in SLG or BTC. I have 4 Smalls, 4 Mediums, 3 Large, 1 XL, 2 XXL.

Overall it was a good conference, covering a manner of subjects. I have also got a number of other meetings to have with individuals on Skype which we simply couldn't manage to do in London with the timeframe we were under.

I have started work on the android wallet (slg standalone) and the chrome wallet for the ledger nano.

Will it be also possible to stake on the android wallet? that would be very good

really good news  Grin
i'm especially excited to use ledger nano with slg and also the android wallet app
as a guideline for app design, i suggest you look at the BitX wallet app, which has by far the best and most simple design compared to other wallet apps

how much should I expect daily from staking 10 000 Sterlingcoins when full pos kicks in?
right now I have staked for over 2 months and have received only a few Sterlingcoins, is it because of the pow blocks?

Take you amount of coins, divide it by 100, multiply by 5.5, divide by 365.

1.506849315068493 Sterlingcoin per day in interest.

(With no disrespect meant, this is simple math that you should work out yourself)

As long as your staking you will receive the 5.5%.

Math Explained:

Total Amount / 100 = 1% of Total Amount
Multiply 1% of Total Amount by 5.5 = 5.5% of Total Amount
Divide 5.5% of Total Amount by 365 Days (1 Year) = Daily PoS Interest Percentage
i was actually more wondering if the pos interest will be 5.5% after pow because for the last 2 months that I have been regularly staking, i've got only 6 Sterlingcoins which is only about 0.37% interest, so is this because of pow? Smiley

I get 5.5% interest on my coins. You should also get that if you keept your wallet open for staking. You should again check network and wallet because PoS is 5.5% just now.

Keep in mind that to proof of stake well you also have to keep in mind the size of the blocks of coins within your wallet as well as the PoS difficulty. A block of 100 coins would have a better chance of staking than 10 blocks of 10 coins depending on the PoS difficulty. Turn on coin control in the options settings and make sure the coin blocks within your wallet are a reasonable size. I try to keep mine between 1000 - 2000 in size.
thanks, made the blocks around 2000 each and let it stake overnight, but all of the 12 blocks i mined over the nigh were conflicted?

What do you mean conflicted?

He/She means conflicted transaction on the PoS interest payment. Do not worry, just means you will get the interest in another block Wink

I think I understand, they meant they weren't getting the amount that they expected, yes?
actually i meant that all of the 12 blocks were orphans but all good now i think, except my biggest block still keeps getting rejected

Oh, I understand now. Having a PoS block not accepted it exactly like having a PoW of work block rejected. Please follow these steps to enure you do not get rejected blocks:

1. Sync your wallet completely before unlocking it. If your wallet is not fully synced every block you stake will automatically not be accepted.

2. Make sure your Firewall does not conflict with your wallet in any way. When you first open up your wallet on a Windows PC you will get a firewall warning asking if you wish to allow the program through. Make sure to checkbox both public and private access. Doing this is usually more than enough for staking.

3. Make sure any PC protection programs do not detect your wallet as a virus or a trojan. Sometimes my MalwareBytes or Avira will believe a wallet or mining software is malware so I will need to make an exception for the folder(s) that they are in. They might also believe incoming connections are suspicious while syncing so I would need to tell MalwareBytes to "Exclude" incoming connections as they are reported.

4. Make sure your internet connection is reliable. If you lag badly or your internet goes down when you stake a block and it does not reach the blockchain in time your block shall not be accepted. If you think your internet will not be stable at some point while staking it is better to turn off the wallet rather than risk wasting your coin age. I believe you lose coin age regardless the if the stake block is accept or not but I'm not sure I've never really looked into it. I just never thought of it until now.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
thank you, will try those options!

Whilst Sterlingcoin 1.4 sits in the wings waiting to be released I thought I would write a quick short guide to running a more secure wallet on your Windows home computer:

1. Download and install Comodo Firewall, Peerblock and Avira Antivirus.
2. Download and install Oracle VirtualBox.
3. Check whether you are running 32bit or 64bit Windows and then download either the 32bit or 64bit version of Ubuntu 14.10
4. Open Oracle VirtualBox and create a new virtual machine for Ubuntu/Linux and select the appropriate architecture (32bit/64bit).
5. Ideally you should be creating this virtual machine on an external usb drive which can stay disconnected whenever possible.
6. During install make sure to set passwords for startup of the Ubuntu install and also for login to the Ubuntu environment on the Virtual Machine.
7. Once Ubuntu has finished installing and you are on the desktop, open a terminal (Crtl+Alt+T) and type "sudo apt-get update" and hit enter, it will request your password you set at install.
8. Next, still in the terminal, type "sudo apt-get upgrade" and hit enter, this time it will not require your password as you entered it previously and are still in the same session.
9. Once the updates finish installing go to the menu bar of Oracle Virtual Box which your Ubuntu installation is running in and go to 'Devices' and at the bottom click on 'Insert Guest Additions CD Image'. Ubuntu will pick up the installer and ask whether you wish to run the installer, click 'Run', it will request your password. Once it finishes restart Ubuntu.
10. Once Ubuntu restarts follow this guide here - http://sterlingcoin.org.uk/support/linux/install-sterlingcoin-wallet-linux/

This I hope will help those that don't have a huge technical know how to at least secure their systems somewhat better than they may be now.

any recommendations for mac users?  Smiley

MacOS is based upon the UNIX operating system which is a good strong basis to work off of.
With Macintosh there is a general consensus that they do not get virus' or malware, which sadly is not the case.

When running OSX we recommend ClamAV for antivirus and Comodo Firewall alongside Peerguardian:

http://www.clamxav.com/downloads/ClamXav_2.6.4.dmg
https://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/antivirus-for-mac.php
https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15098/peerguardian/download

Also for added security, the same as the Windows guide, install VirtualBox, Ubuntu and the Linux wallet on an external drive and keep disconnected whenever possible.

We hope this helps the Mac users out there in the community.

Thanks!
