Figured I'd post this here for people who don't follow the S7 thread.

Decided to "make a thing" to power my S7s Grin. Hope some of you will appreciate this!

2X 2000w server PSUs sharing the load of the 3 S7s. Will shortly be replacing the PSUs with the 2500w versions since I'm actually pulling 4400w DC from them right now, which is 200w over their rating on each.

I've adjusted the voltage output to 12.6v on the PSUs.

Wow, looks homemade but effective. Very impressive! Do those fans do enough to cool those machines or you need extra fans?

Re: China banning bitcoin exchages, good or bad?
by

I believe that its a fear hyped campaign to make a new entry point for rich people. I believe that if China bans the exchanges, the coins will have greater scarcity involving a large % of the trading population. There will be less coins floating around being traded, meaning harder to sell, harder to buy. I think the price will increase because the coins will be in fewer hands than previously, a consolidation if you will. I am not selling.

Is New Interest In Bitcoin Driving Up Price Or New Interest In Altcoins?
by
alrachid
on 07/06/2017, 18:49:44 UTC
I really can't help but wonder, especially as we see more and more market cap go to other cryptos, is it interest in cryptos/alts in general that is driving up price, or is it interest in bitcoin?

The way I see it, BTC is like the USD of crypto. Everyone trades in BTC. When we check our balance tab, we check to see how much USD/BTC worth we have. Lately, I have seen Ethereum getting a decent amount of mainstream news and personally I believe that is a big chunk of this new interest pouring in. Not only that, I also believe the "bitcoin fans" are also getting more and more into the Alts as time goes on. With this being such a risky, unregulated space, I believe many investor type people shied away from altcoins while remaining weary of BTC in the first place. As time goes by, and you see/watch markets go 10/20/30x in a years time, it starts to really spark interest.

I am wondering what people think? I see many people claiming its time for the Bubble to burst, and although I agree that time is coming, inevitably, I honestly thought it was going to be far before 2950... Time and time again, we see that BTC is a beast of it's own and tradition trends and logic/math doesn't quite have the same effect on this wild animal. Are altcoins even a safe way to store value in the event BTC drops? After all, if the BTC is dropping, why should this Alt hold value against it?

Re: Diversifying my crypto. Which coin to research?
by
alrachid
on 01/06/2017, 20:22:45 UTC
I recently decided that I was going to start a little "diversifying campaign" if you will. So after being around on Poloniex for nearly 2 years I have noticed that there is nearly no coins under 1 penny anymore. And more importantly, there are many coins that were below 100 satoshi that are now 4000+ satoshi. As I started my campaign, to my amazement, nearly all low priced alt coins started to climb. I got lucky and I had put 10$ into a few of them and made minor gains. But hey, small gains over long periods of time = big gains and that's what I am going for with this new idea. I never though we would see 500+ burst, or 300+ sc, or even 200+ bcn... all these blew my mind. So what I do now is, when I trade and make some decent gains (at least 50$+) I take 10$ and I invest it into some coin that is under 10k satoshi that I feel may have some promising months coming. In the long run I hope to see some big gains on some of these coins. Even if I get lucky on 1 coin it can cover many other purchases that didn't play out. At least that is my hope.

May was a great month for trading altcoins myself! I made significant gains and I got extremely lucky being around on May 31st for Poloniex Omni pump... I nearly doubled my trading balance in 24 hours. I wish I had more money in the account but hey, I am not complaining!

Re: can I make 100$ in 2-3 month without a base money?

It is possible... One time I traded 4$ into 800$ in 30 days. It was such a small amount of money I did foolish trades, but it was a day where they pushed BTCD 1500% increase. Then ripple began to fly and I bought all ripple and put it in margin and went long. Crazy. But then Poloniex lag and steal back 1/4 of my money by ignoring the orders I place and glitchting/scamming me.

If you know what you are doing, margin trading can be very profitable. The problem is the Poloniex lag scam along with the other scams they are currently running. The other day, I sold burst coins and then POOF my whole balance disappeared. 2 days later they gave me burstcoins instead of BTC and burst had lost 40% of it's value. They stole .13 BTC from me. If Poloniex didn't do insider trading and run intricate scams, it would be a good place to trade. I am done with them since they keep stealing money from me. Last week they charged me for lending when I had no orders open! And just stole 1/5% of my bankroll!

The other day, I was trading burst coins. I got in on the way and I had some nasty profit. I sold my burst coins for a large % profit but all of a sudden I look and ALL MY BTC IS GONE! And all burst coins are gone! So I open a ticket, my trade history shows no sale of my burst coins. I wait 48 hours for support to respond... They never respond but 48 hours after they disappeared, some coins return. But not the BTC that I should have had from my burst coin sale, no, they returned me all the burst coins which are worth 70% of what I sold them for. Not to mention, I sold had a limit sell order for the peak of burst coins, I had it set to sell if it went below 960 sat. It never fired and I lost 20% on that also. In the last 7 days, Poloniex has stolen nearly 50% of my bank roll from me, all the while I am making really good trades and doubled my bankroll is less than 2 weeks.

Re: Poloniex = Scam exchange beware.

Poloniex is running a very elaborate complex scam. I don't care who disagrees, and if you do disagree then you most likely have a 39+hour/week job and don't get to sit and watch the website all day and night, if you want. They had "lag" at 5k ppl, at 10k ppl, at 20k at 30k ppl. The same kind of bullshit lag where normal people cannot put orders in, close orders, cancel orders, close margins, transfer balances, get charged lending fees with no orders open, coins held hostage until the 10% move is over with, and many other things that I just am not able to remember atm. They colluded with the DAO Hack to make tons of money from trading fees. I lost 900$ even tho I closed my margin order 900$ in the profit, they let it lag and closed my order where thousands of satoshi away from where I closed it. That was with like 8k users and it lagged all the same it did yesterday with 32k users. It's BS and I honestly believe they will eventually follow the same path as Cryptsy.

Re: Why do conservative worldwide oppose "drugs" legalization?
by
alrachid
on 27/04/2017, 20:50:31 UTC
How can you legalize drugs? It will be very dangerous. If something like that is done, then the youth will become addicted to drugs, and deaths from overdose will shoot up. This is a very foolish suggestion.

Think about this for a second, and try to have an open mind about it.

Right now today, there are many drugs that drug users/dealers are not aware of, therefore they go on with their daily lives without it and spend time doing other things. Instead of focusing on something like Kratom, (we will use Kratom as our "random unpopular, unknown natural drug) they focus on the drugs that are glorified through our media, media that I remind you has BIG BIG money involved in it. Movies and music artists dont talk about Kratom, they talk about cocaine, ecstasy, crack, meth, heroin. Why do dealers sell these drugs? Because they are "valuable". Why are they valuable? Well because these are the famous drugs. Just like with people, fame = value.  We don't choose what is promoted in TV and Music, but the people paying for the creation of this entertainment, they DO choose what is promoted. This is why the mainstream of rap music is entirely promoting bad things, not because their are so many bad people out there, but because thats what these record labels want to promote so they find artists that fit the bill.

I digress, now let's say tomorrow CNN and Fox News have a front page story that says "Kratom, the legal drug that needs to be Illegal because popularity with Youth". Do you think there is going to be less awareness about Kratom or more awareness? Well of course since these websites have millions of viewers, Kratom would surely have a new wave of interest. Does showing us school shootings on the TVs every week make school shootings a reduced occurrence? Hell no, it becomes more normal the more we see it. So stop glorifying drugs, gun violence and people use it less because they spend less time thinking about it.

You don't miss what you never had. Ignorance is bliss. Sadly we don't control what we are ignorant to, to some degree.

Re: Best Charts for Crypto?

Depends on what you are looking for. I trade on Polo, so I watch the Polo charts. But, thinks happen so fast I feel I can't rely on charts, though they are very helpful, I watch the orders that are filling because you can see a signal in the volume of those orders before a bar is going to show you.

Re: Learning to trade crypto-currencies
by
alrachid
on 22/06/2016, 20:15:52 UTC
I have learned a little bit about it. I learned the most from sitting watching the charts wherever you are planning on trading. A few things to know. It's easiest to make or lose many when there is a clear market trend. Have rules that you stick to, don't be afraid to take a small loss to avoid a big one. We can take a bunch of small losses, but then have a nice position in the right direction and you can make up for all those small losses within minutes. I like to trade when there is clear market direction, it's easiest then. You need to be quick. Learn how whales, or manipulators move, and learn how the masses move around them. Fortunately I am self employed so I kept it on my 2nd monitor for a few weeks just watching and kind of noting "hey I could have made a lot there based on what I had predicted in the graph" , " or wow I would have made a bad call and lost or had to pull out there."  Volume is a big part of trading, people often try to make incorrect red or green signals to through off people, be aware of this and follow volume and be ready. Good luck and be careful of people trying to get you to click or download things to learn trading.

Re: If prices crash after halving, what would you do?
by
alrachid
on 22/06/2016, 20:05:21 UTC
If the price crashes after halving, I will buy when I see the trend turn around, and hope it doesn't go lower than that! But I think everyone is expecting spike up, spike down, stabilize, kinda of like last time... so instead I think it's either straight up or straight down longer than people expect. Personally, I think so many people are expecting it to spike down and they are ruled by fear so I think the big guys are planning on buying it all up cheap and raising at least 40% from that point. I think we will see over $1300.
