In their last Lethean Medium update, they mentioned prioritizing the mobile app development. I don't think there is already a downloadable version to test it.

The Lethean Devs have already released a full VPN client. This is different from the browser VPN. It's still in alpha stage but already usable. I already tested it and it worked great. You'll mileage may vary. For now, it's only for Windows 10. Unfortunately, you'll not find this in the Lethean website. You can find the links to the software and the instructions in their Medium update.

I  know the coins you mentioned are privacy coins. However, I don't know if they brought something new to the table or what their real world use are, if there are any. The main market of the Lethean decentralized VPN are VPN users. There are hundreds of millions of VPN users around the world just wanting to access ordinary content that are restricted in their countries. To protect their identities, VPN users will be using the Lethean coin (Monero-based) to access VPN services. Individuals wanting to earn a passive income through cryptocurrency can share their unused internet and act as exit nodes for these VPN users around the world. Lethean will become the Uber of internet sharing for VPN services.

The Lethean team and Lethean community are determined to share this to the world. The devs are spending money to market this in Youtube to attract VPN users. The community on the other are volunteering to spread the word in Twitter and Youtube. More marketing efforts are on the way as the Lethean developers are finishing the last pieces of the VPN client. I noticed that too that there a lot of fake airdrop announcements in Twitter. I think some are just trying to get a lot of followers and others might be getting important info to try to scam people. So be careful out there.

Governments can also host free VPNs like they do with TOR nodes. In the end, it will be the reputation of VPN providers that will determine if we will trust them as reliable gateways for our traffic or not.

If one is a coin developer, it is only logical that he'll be mining his own coin from the very beginning while he is developing it.  He could also have bought at the cheap when it was first listed since he'll surely believe in his own project. It was easy to mine Shield in the early days. One could have mined millions easily back then. If the devs were able to time the market, they could have easily sold some of their holdings to finance further development and even for listing fees in well known exchanges.
