Everything is easy and predictable in hindsight, if anyone believed that bitcoin is going to $4,000 from $100 at that time then they have excellent prediction skills, but even those didn't sell everything they owned and buy bitcoin, showing that the weren't certain. Everyone is free to make their own investment decisions on when to buy and when not to.

Regardless of the financial excellence of the concepts of bitcoin, Bitcoin is priced in USD ( in american exchanges) for us to know the value of our holdings in bitcoin in this moment and to enable others to buy bitcoin. if it isn't priced, Then no one can buy it as well as sell it and it will very much lose it's value, Regardless of your opinion in US and regular economies, it's still the only way to value something.

there are good altcoins out there, those saying bitcoin is joining to win are underestimating these coins, even if they will not be the #1 coin but will significantly impact the world of crypto's and altcoins in general. For example: Monero, Ethereum are good choices.
