[Hiring] Need simple PCB design for a completed circuit schematic
by
amencon
on 15/02/2015, 05:23:24 UTC
I have the circuit drawn up and have already built and tested it on a breadboard. I drew up the circuit on 123d.circuits.io but got lost at the stage of trying to design the PCB with tracing leads, copper fill and backplanes etc.

The circuit only has 2 transistors, a resistor and a diode so I wouldn't think it would be too hard for someone who is knowledgeable in this area.

What I need now is the PCB design that I can email or take to a SMT shop to have some prototypes printed up for testing.

Based on some very preliminary research on pricing I was imagining this job would cost me in the 0.15-0.25BTC range but I'm not an engineer and this is my first foray into this kind of work so I am a bit flexible on pay if an offer with explanation of work involved sounds fair.

PM me if interested to get the project details.

Thanks.

Currently just 2.5% bought weekly automated through coinbase for some dollar cost averaging.  The amount I'm investing now won't soon rival what I already have from getting them cheap a while ago unless the price tanks real big but I like grabbing some bit cents each week anyway for use with the bulk of the rest of my bitcoins in cold storage.

This poll is kinda worthless, if I vote <6000, I'm even right if it drops to 0.

Yes, the last 2 choices cover every possible price range, and completely nullify any other ranges in the poll.  The OP clearly does not know how to craft a valid poll in a survey.
Maybe the poll choices were meant to have the behavior of cascaded if-else or switch statements?

How much was stolen?

i believe it was around 640 000, but seriously doubt it realy is like the claim it to be.
If you run an exchange, and loose that much money without knowing, you must be a total moron, therefore i believe Mark pulled greatest scam in history of bitcoin, even making "DPR" a small thief.

FTFY.

It makes a difference. "Pirate" means nothing, "DPR" means freedom.
I took it to mean the pirateat40 ponzi pirate rather than DPR.

Re: Bitcoin bubble starting to burst?

So what do you guys think? Price drop again - is the bubble bursting before the ralley upwards end of the year? Will we see the 10000$ end of the year??

This is hardly anything. It is very volatile which makes it great for gamblers like us Smiley

I would like to see the price of bitcoin stabilize even if it means that the price is a little bit lower. A stable price will allow for more people to adopt it as a currency
Which will cause the price to go up... oh no.

Am I the only person who finds this endless "whale" stuff both boring and paranoid?
No.

There are rich people who invest out there.  Their moves will affect the market more than those investing less.  It's entirely common and predictable.

Re: My BTC Position is...
by

Bullish long term.
Bearish short term (4-8 years). There have to be at least 1-2 block reward halvings until BTC is even close to being competitive as a payment system (ever calculated the real cost of a transaction? Just divide block reward by the number of transactions per block ...)
Can you expand on this?  Why does the "real cost" have to be lower for bitcoin to be competitive?  Aren't the "extra" costs borne by the miners?  How are bitcoin transactions (payment system) not competitive due to the cost of mining (currency issuing and security)?

Had your point been that Bitcoin likely needs years of maturing it's technological infrastructure before having the appropriate hardware and software services necessary to bring Bitcoin to the masses and compete with other easy to use incumbent payment system technologies, then I'd agree completely.

Re: Since we started at zero, do you think its possible to go back to zero?
by

I'm just waiting for the bottom to buy more. I've been buying the whole way down. I'll buy the whole way back up too.

Why don't you just buy at the bottom, and get more btc for your fiat?

If he knew for sure where the bottom was ahead of time, then sure I'm relatively certain he'd do just that.

On topic to your post, I don't really get why having some marginal "use value" is comforting to PM bugs.  If PMs or Bitcoin crash to some very low floor value (2% of current value, or whatever), the odds are the investor will dump it at some point in either case at some point in it's plummet to zero or near zero.

If speculative value of Gold goes away your friend's 10k investment in Gold might be worth a few hundred dollar, whoopty-doo?  Can't see how that trumps all the advantages Bitcoin brings as a decentralized network of near instant value exchange.

Yeah that's true, and I consider the bottom when prices/ hype starts going up again when the prices have crashed for a while.
If you can time it right you can make a lot of money.

So far I've been pretty bad at it when I've tried though (one good call worth a bunch of bitcoins has pretty much let me break even on a further string of bad trading calls, I've since stopped trying since I'm not willing to put enough work into it not to get slaughtered in this market).

In the not so distant future bitcoin will be 900$
then you will realize this is a buying opportunity and send your money back to the exchange
by the time your money arrives at the exchange price will be have double
you will still buy in, because you understand the market, and because bitcoin.

 Wink

Spot on.

Also, "in the not so distant future" will probably be around late April/early May, so I also think Mat didn't pick the smartest moment to withdraw all funds. But let's see, if there's one consistent theme to his posts it's that he changes his opinions pretty quickly (nothing wrong with that, btw. better than being permanently stuck in either bull or bear mode, imo)

The other theme being his unrelenting and highly transparent book talking.

To be fair, he was one of the relatively few dissenting voices during the ~800 "stability" phase that warned (and I'm using the word "warn" loosely here -- more like "shouted without interrupt") that we'll go down further. Probably got quite a few ignores for that, undeservedly so.
Right or wrong, frankly, I don't like his posts because he uses the word "nutter", ugh.

Re: Synthetic gold from LENR reactors could drive crypto to insane levels

See Elforsk study and report in 2013. TLDR: they sent Sweden's top scientists to a lab controlled by the scientists to run the experiment.

Read the report here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/188229945/Elforsk-English-02-1

I am aware of Rossi's eCat and the recent testing.  Do you know that Rossi recently sold his invention for just US$11.5 million?  One of the world's most important inventions sold for relative peanuts.  Doesn't make much sense, unless the device doesn't work and Rossi is grabbing the cash while there's still some confusion over whether it works at all.

The Swedish scientific study of the device was deeply flawed.

http://arxiv.org/vc/arxiv/papers/1306/1306.6364v1.pdf

The team seems to have set up elaborate IR measuring devices and made various assumptions along the way instead of directly measuring the amount of energy produced.  Just because a study was done by Swedish scientists in a lab they controlled doesn't mean the experiment was done well without interference from Rossi:

"A major problem with this test is the many restrictions and conditions that seem to have been imposed by Rossi on the measurement group and their work.  In our opinion, a truly independent test, even of a “black box” device, would mean work in our own laboratory, with our own equipment, with only written instructions (and possibly telephone support) by the “inventor”, with a measurement method of our own choosing etc."

Anyway, this is getting off topic.
I followed it (and Defkalion and others) for awhile but actually lost interest waiting for something concrete to happen shortly after that report came out.  I suppose I haven't missed much if that's still the big go-to event being talked about.

MattheCat makes a good point that I think is important, bitcoin has become boring.  The news is bad - Gox gone - or silly - "We've found Satoshi!" and it does not matter.  My only hope is that behind the scenes things are happening such as the second market exchange that will make bitcoin legit at least in the USA.

Boring?  It continues to keep me entertained.

Re: Is the world too dumb for Bitcoins?
by
amencon
on 08/03/2014, 07:06:18 UTC
I've always maintained that Bitcoin is too complex to experience wide spread adoption, for now.

Most people will never understand how public-key cryptography works, or understand that you never actually have "bitcoins" in your possession but instead possess the ability to access "coins" which are actually just entries in a decentralized ledger.  People will continue to get malware, constantly.  Hoping for education to eradicate insecure computers around the world, while a noble endeavor, is a pipe dream.

The fact is that the world is "too dumb" for most things.  Email, networking, cars, planes and even the current fiat banking system.  I'm "too dumb" (or lazy in many cases) to fully understand lots of technologies I enjoy every day.

The path to main stream adoption is building more and more simplified interfaces to the bitcoin technology.  This will take time but I believe we are making progress month by month.

Hardware wallets will be a necessity I think.  As well as hiding cryptographic keys from the end user.

Bitcoin has to come to the people, because it will never happen the other way around.

Don't worry guys.  After close scientific inspection it's been confirmed that the price has actually been gravitating toward 667.  Whew, that was a close one.

Where are your sources? Chinese or Russian language only, please.
Which ones can you understand?

can somebody please explain to me how to sell bitcoin on BTC-E?. It keeps telling me that I have entered a field incorrectly. I am trying to sell .086 BTC.
thanks everyone,

You need a 0 in front of the decimal.
Really? That'd be trivial to solve and would seem to give plenty of juice for the squeeze as it sounds likely to irritate or confuse plenty of users.  Good to know next time I use BTC-E though, thanks.
