Re: How do you make crypto investment decisions

So fat the impression I got is that most people do a little bit of research on the project background, a little on technical analysis and then rely on intuition for the rest. I'm wondering if anyone will find it important to know how many transactions are on some blockchain (this shows how popular it is today), how is the project doing on their roadmap, things like that? Some analysis that would resemble stock analysis.

Here's the example of how I invest/trade: I've done a lot of research on 2 coins: ETH and NEU (Neufund). Both have solid use. My team uses Ethereum for software development so I follow closely it's network usage, and I know pretty well how many companies use it for various purposes. Neufund is the first Equity Token platform, it's economics are clear to grow and generate income, I follow it's channels closely and know what's happening. Besides these I also own Bitcoin for diversification and cashing out. Besides these that I know well and follow closely I do not buy any other coins, I only earn tokens of my clients through work. When any of my holdings get to gains of over 50% I start selling them slowly, to USDT or to other tokens if they did not grow as fast. For example I sold ETH for BTC when it reached 0.1. Then if the coins drop over 60% of the peak, I start buying them. I never sell on the downturn or buy after token is over 80% of it's historical high.

I'm looking to understand how people decide how to trade? Do you do any analysis, and what exactly? How ofter do you trade and why?

Probably you can use speculations of other on https://www.tradingview.com/ideas/tradeview/ , You can follow some users, and check how precise other users predicted
Thanks! These are mostly trading signals, also useful, but it's for intraday trading. Analytics I'm looking for are for a bit longer time period.

Does anyone know of any company providing analytics for the crypto investments? I mean real financial analytics, like they do in Investment Banks and Hedge Funds? Sharpe ratio, Alpha, Beta, Sortino, volatility...? I've done a lot of searching and closest I found is https://www.sifrdata.com/ (that's just a game play from a mathematician). Anything else?

I think that there is no real analytics for crypto projects. Because the analytics need data feed. In the world of cryptocurrency we have not annual financial reports, development strategies, etc.
Lot of analytics is drawn from the trading data, that's what I'm looking for...

Re: State owned bank and crypto comunity unite to protect ICO investors in Russia

Good governance is something a state owned bank (that nearly got bankrupt) and a poor platform know nothing about. I don't see much clarity in how the fund distribution is going to be governed. Token holders should be voting, not some "investors". Voting mechanism must be on smart contracts for each token. This initiative is yet another example of trying to apply old approaches to a completely new field. Crypto must be about decentralizing!!!

Re: Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin
by

It already did, last spring I believe - by real usage/number of daily transactions. Today it's 5x. Marketcap is just one measure, and that one is a matter of time as people start entering blockchain via ETH, bypassing Bitcoin from the equation or as ETH scales to be able to handle more transactions. Demand is certainly there.

Update: Since my initial post ETH has went from 0.09 ETH/BTC to 0.116, a >25% gain in a couple of weeks. It is now at 66% of its market cap. In early December it was 20%. How many people still believe it's impossible? I know cryptos are volatile, and things can widely swing in other direction, but ETH is evidently in a bull run.

IMO every single ICO coming out in the next few months/going on now looks like complete garbage. I haven't seen one that looks legit.
I will try to help you with that with 2 strongest blockchain projects I've seen so far (and I do them a lot):
1. Neufund.org is an Equity Token platform, launching in Q2, they are technically not doing an ICO since they got all the money they need for operations, but are only collecting investor commitments (you keep your money) in EURO ICBM (they did ETH earlier) and you get their token NEU for free which entitles you to share of revenues. Very rewarding project for early investors, I already made 5x on it and it's only the beginning.
2. https://ivep.dubdub.com/ is an awesome product (look at the demo, it's really cool) - they enable video interactivity with very easy tech for publishers, enabling product placement and stuff like that. I like their ICO because product is ready for launch, and product is so appealing to advertising industry that project already has big traction (disclosure: I work with them). ICO starts Feb 19th.

Re: Is regulating Crypto killing the market?
by
amitrovich
on 23/01/2018, 19:20:59 UTC
We re seeing a lot of things about cryptocurrencies in our daily news. Many countries are trying to regulate it by imposing restrictions. Does that mean the good old days have gone? Huge pump after the arrival of a new coin? HODL to gain 1000% or so? All these things have gone? The market is very dull, we couldnt even see a solid jump these days. So, is this the start of the end of crypto? Post your ideas.
It is the beginning of a reality kicking in. It is kind of unreal to have a 1000% returns, isn't it? Most people will end up loosing 99% of what they think they "have" today. History is a great teacher, we should listen sometimes... (although ETH and a few other projects will survive and then some, that's the 1% that will remain for them being really useful).

Bolji predlog: uskoro Neufund.org objavljuje ICBM u Eurima, a njihove tokene dobiješ na poklon, a svoje pare uložiš u tokenizirane akcije firmi.

Znam ih jer im moja firma radi ICO smart contract, toplo preporučujem.

If you're open to smaller new coins, NEU (Neumark, traded on Liqui mostly) is my favorite. The most solid business in blockchain (Neufund.org). Maybe a little late advice - it rebounded a lot, but still very worthwhile to look at.

Most people here allow that (ETH>BTC by market cap) as a possibility, but "long time in the future". My question would be then what is "long" time in crypto world? In my experience crypto currencies are so volatile, that something like Segwit2 will happen (like last fall when many bitcoiners moved to BCH), and ETH can surpass BTC in a matter of a week or two (it almost did at that point). And then drop. But overall my feeling from the answers here is that most people think it's a high possibility due to ETH gaining popularity faster then BTC.

I think that this is the same as answering the question. "Who do you love more, Mom or Dad?" . Both Bitcoin and the Etherium will soon be forts.
Good one, I'll remember it Smiley

"Bitcoin is the most popular name, when it comes to crypto currencies. I don't think Ethereum is near half popular. Bitcoin has been attacked many times, but always come back stronger.
I don't think Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin any time soon. "

Market cap wise - true, ETH is half of Bitcoin at the moment. But its USAGE (which means real popularity) is 4 times higher (number of daily transactions), and the difference keeps growing (see 2 graphs I posted above). My point is that if something is being used more, it should be valued more (in the long run, of course).

Get Neu (Neumark), available on Liqui. It just came out, and is a definition of a HODLer token. For the time frame you're talking about, it will be listed on primary exchanges during this time, which is always good for coins... In any case - one of the strongest projects I've seen...

What are the chances Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin by market cap?

Will not happen. Bitcoin will be the number one forever in the cryptocurrency. As you can see without bitcoin there will be no alt coin. Bitcoin is the pillar and king of Cryptocurrency thus no one can shake its position as the number one.
But blockchain is not about the kings. It's completely opposite - about de-centralizing. A lot of people moved to BitcoinCash already. Again, main parameter - usage, ETH is far ahead for some time now, and that is adding value with every day.
