Quote

Quote

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345231.0

(Rain.bh)

OP, you know I can claim to be anyone on LBC? You have no proof that it's your account.
You do understand I'm using LBC for escrow right? I'm using the same account with that reputation...

My offer still stands for serious sellers, verification of my identity and residence available if needed.

People, I've been lurking the forums for a few years now, I don't need your "Paypal is risky" business, I said so on my first sentence of this thread, and the sticky is obvious for anyone. Paypal are reversible for both "Gift" and regular transactions. "Gift" transactions are not as easy to reverse because Paypal has "No buyer protection" for it. I have not had a problem sending gifts for Bitcoin as of yet. My reputation stands and this thread is for people who understand the risks but are willing to trade with me for that 6% premium.

In any case someone has already sold me coins using the link above (via LBC). If anyone else is interested PM me and I will activate my ad again.

You'll get your money:
- As a gift
- If not possible, I pay the paypal fees.
- my paypal is my personal US account, almost 8 years old.
- The funds are in my paypal so you will get them instantly with no delay.

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks!

Wow those graffities are amazing! Have you never been caught while doing this as in my country graffiti is vandalism?

Thanks. Yes, been caught many times but professional graffiti is somewhat acceptable in my country. We have been doing this for years and we now have a permission from city council to legally paint in our city. We have specially designed spots for that. In my country it's called graffiti art not vandalizm.

That's incredible! I'll contact you in a few weeks to do something for me!

Embed plaintext price from Bitstamp using API (jsonp?)
by
amoai
on 01/05/2014, 14:21:41 UTC
How do I fetch Bitstamp's last price quote from their JSON ticker api and have it on my website as plain text?

Here's what I tried with no luck,

Attempt 1)

Code:

Buy Price:

Sell Price:

Code:

I was told that it has to be jsonp, and not json (because I'm using an external url source).

Is it possible to use JSONP just from Jquery+HTML+javascript to embed prices in plain text?

If not Bitstamp's api can I use BitcoinChart's, or Blockchain's API?

....
There is a money exchange place in downtown Nairobi where you can exchange bitcoins for fiat.

This I have not heard of, any chance you have more details? Or can you visit it one day? Is it just a few random people who have bitcoin or is it like a business/kiosk?

There is usually a premium for paying with Paypal due to the nature of the risk. You might find a seller if you put your price closer to $500.

The cheapest rate I found from a legit seller is 526.49/BTC by IvanRussia, but even he requires some ID info.

Re: IRS Bitcoin is Property - Money Laundering Allegations no longer valid?
by
amoai
on 04/04/2014, 23:48:03 UTC
Now that the IRS has deemed bitcoin to be "property" and not "currency" surely that means that charlie shrem's & Ross Ulbricht's money laundering allegations are no longer valid?
The big point that must be decided in the law is whether bitcoin is property or currency when it comes to Nemo dat quod non habet, where stolen bitcoin could be reclaimed by the original owner even though it has gone through several bona fide owners, if it is considered property.

Could you explain this further? How would people even prove that the ownership belonged to them, besides the coins going through their wallet in the blockchain?

Re: eBay Officially Adds New ‘Virtual Currency’ Category to US Site
by
amoai
on 04/04/2014, 23:43:27 UTC
The great news is they now allow trading it and, more importantly, since Paypal is theirs, they should finally stop this shame!

There is no sign that they are allowing the trade. Making a separate category is different from granting a permission.

Isn't the problem with Paypal rather than eBay? It's hard to prevent fraud in terms of virtual currencies. Paypal has a history of always protecting the buyers.

Re: Bitcoin's 21million total coin supply hinders it immensely
by
amoai
on 02/04/2014, 18:14:51 UTC
Bitcoin has a 21 total of 21million coins that could ever be produced.
That's 2,100,000,000,000,000 Satoshis (BTC0.00000001).

If that ever becomes an issue then a soft fork can add more digits.

This is a non-issue.

If bitcoin's had to be traded in whole coins, than yes this would be a huge problem.  But of course this is not the case.  Perhaps the conventional unit should be made the mBTC which would make a unit worth about .45 based on today's prices, but the number of coins is not a problem.

As others have pointed out, it's a non-issue with the numbers.

I think the bigger problem is their lack of distribution, and if there will be a "Bitcoin 1%" forever. But that's another topic for another day.
