Re: Bitcoin exchanges (cryptsy in particular)
by

When these bitcoin exchanges freeze withdrawals for long periods of time how do we know they aren't doing this for profit? For example cryptsy right now has withdrawals pending for over two weeks so do to the scare the price of alts have shot up on the marketplace because people are trying to withdraw.

I don't think they are playing a good strategy. Once they start to halt withdraws people start to panic and try to get their coins. this causes even more difficulties for the exchange to satisfy the customers requests

I don't think they are worried about satisfying us. If they can stock pile alt coins, freeze wallets, then be the only ones that can withdraw btc they make bank because people will pay for overpriced alt coins.

People please stop posting that cryptsy is a scam and suggesting what I should do in the future to not lose coins. I didn't post this for help over the lost coins! I posted this to suggest a possible unmoral technique cryptsy might be using to pump and dump coins on their market. If they're doing what I think they're doing they are having a success rate of basically 100%.

you will probably lose all your money. people warned about that exchange since months (google).

I only have 100 tied up in cryptsy so its not a big loss at all. But I really do feel like they're using this down time to make money. They can easily load up on alt coins and bring them to cryptsy to sell to users because they control bitcoin withdrawals. Right now more than 15 coins are overpriced on cryptsy

ever noticed when you look at the order list, its small.. but as soon as you place an order a totally new order (never in list before) jumps ahead of you.
thats the cryptsy's own bot.
if they think you can make a profit because there is a spread. they will put in an order above yours so they can get that profit before you

Yeah I've noticed it a few times. We need an exchange for the people

Yeah the selling of accounts is getting old. I stepped away from the bitcoin community for a while then came back to this... People buying hero member profiles and mess. Why would you want to buy your rank/status on a forum? Earn it..

At what percent are you exchanging?

BUYING ALL AVALON & BUTTERFLY LABS MINERS
by
andrewboy44
on 18/03/2014, 21:02:04 UTC
Looking to get back into mining alt coins with the hope of them being worth something in the future. I will buy all avalon and butterfly lab miners. The difficulty of bitcoin is shooting up drastically and will increase even more when kncminer drops more mining power. I want 10+ avalon or bfl miners to create a alt coin mining farm. I'm only willing to pay what your miner can make in one month. For example if you have a 5gh miner, I'll pay 11usd in btw (0.0177btc). If you think this is a rip, simply don't comment and waste your time. The prices of hardware on ebay are insanely too high. This offer is good for people that are ready to get out of mining.

Rules for purchasing miners:
1. Shipping is paid by you
2. All cords and power source must come with miners
3. All payments for miners are paid in bitcoin with escrow (escrow will be paid by me to an agreed upon escrow service. Hero members with trust will be paid upfront without escrow.)
4. If miners do not work properly your units will be sent back WITH TRACKING and escrow will be canceled with units arrive. (don't try to sell me any broken hardware so we can avoid this. I'm not interested in anyyy broken hardware whatsoever)
5. Units must be shipped the next day after purchase WITH tracking.

Please comment below if interested. I would like to keep everything as public as possible. If you have a large number of miners or a deal you would like to discuss in private feel free to pm. Only avalon and bfl miners please.

How much electricity does running it like this burn? If you dont have free elect, I feel like you're taking an L running these machines.. I could offer 1-1.5 btc depending on the elect needed to run these. I'm pretty sure each unit runs at 600 watts which would be 4200 watts total for 300 ghs.... Cry thats insane

How exactly did they get your email?
What sites use that email address?

It was sent to my main email which is used for a lot of things including multiple bitcoin related things. If multiple bitcoin users have gotten this is narrows it down to either bitcointalk.org or a bitcoin exchange platform. Only options really

I received the same e-mail. I'm trying to figure out why/how I got myself onto a list that identifies me as a BTC user.

Sent from:

Erwann Genson noreply@thehelixchallenge.com.hk via amazonses.com

I got it too, looks like they pulled the emails from the mtgox leak that happened a while back.
I do not have a MtGox account.

This is getting weird.. I'm convinced they got our emails from bitcointalk when it was hacked with the man in the middle attack. But in all honesty, I could care less. Just have to educate others (new people to btc) on these spam emails even though common sense says don't download

Re: Bitcoin endangered b/c of quantum computers
by
andrewboy44
on 06/01/2014, 02:00:44 UTC
Everyone keeps discussing bitcoin being endangered bc of quantum computers

so stop making new threads and stick your idea's to the single thread. if /when quantum computing comes along, everything and anything encrypted is at risk.

the info on your credit card that is supposedly encrypted
the encryption of secure websites including your bank
governments own email system
enforcement agencies own computer systems
the list goes on.

so the banking systems holding a few trillion per country in a few places and many billions in the many many other countries are at risk more so then bitcoin which has individual "passcodes" per account. rather then 1 encryption "passcode" to secure entire bank databases
I wasn't talking about post on here. I haven't even read post on here about the issue. I was basing this off of the bitcoinnotbombs blog. He blogged yesterday about this. Lets not assume. But thanks for the info
