Re: Bitcoin as national currency?
by

Most of the money governments have comes from the possibility of them printing money to themselves. Since Bitcoin could remove that possibility, I don't think they would accept it.

Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct?

Sweden is contemplating to stop using cash by 2023, does this mean cash might be extinct if other countries follow suit?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/10/sweden-could-stop-using-cash-by-2023?utm_content=buffer40bef&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
No, that only means that governments are taking the first steps to start a civil war against people. People who work hard to earn their money will not accept this type of transition.

Even if governments manage to enforce that kind of thing, citzens would use every technology at their disposal to protect their wealth, like cryptocurrencies.

Re: Bitcoin in the classroom, yes or no and why?
by
andyblocks

This is for a personal writing project I'm working on. I imagine that Bitcoin would be good for things like teaching things like math with decimals ("How many Satoshis do you need to get a tenth of a Bitcoin?", stuff like that), budgeting (Spend it on whatever you want, but when it's gone, it's gone), or even a little bit of IT / programming stuff like how cryptography works. What do you guys think of this?
I personally think its great, and I think it will be the trend.

With Bitcoin will happen the same as what happened to the Internet.
No one talked about it in classrooms a few decades ago. But today, you will not find a decent school that does not talk about it.

Re: What Are Your Greatest Fears As a Bitcoin Holder?
by
andyblocks
on 16/11/2017, 16:55:51 UTC
"Hacking and scams remain the top risk for Bitcoin holders. Exchanges that shut down or passwords stolen from devices can easily wipe out a person’s bitcoins. Moreover, governments and central banks from various countries are starting to impose limitations on the use of cryptocurrencies.

Digital coins clearly threaten the political and economic establishment, and the regulatory environment can quickly change with the stroke of a legislative pen. Banks and governments typically use familiar language in the media, such as the need to protect consumers from new risks.

We are hearing familiar talking points from politicians who are getting pressured from the banking lobby. It seems that the root cause of the status quo’s actions in 2017 is to protect fiat currencies and traditional financial interests. Competing digital coins represent a potential end to the government’s monopoly of the monetary system." - Bitcoin.com

What are the top risks for Bitcoin holders?
My fear is that mining becomes centralized, after all, decentralization is what makes Bitcoin stronger than any other currency.
I think users have to become engaged in mining, so that we have a more distributed system.

Byteball is still running its airdrops. You can earn by holding Bitcoin or Bytes.
Right now you get much less by holding Bitcoin. However, it costs nothing to sign a message to link your address, so you have only to gain.

This thing is taking huge proportions. There are token launches every single day... and there are always buyers. I fear that you will have to learn the hard way.

Not holding very well against USD. Are we going to see the MB at 10 cents? Sounds too good to be true.

Re: what is the best anonymous altcoin?
by
andyblocks

Monero and Blackbytes are the most anonymous. Zcash has also great anonymity features, but this huge percentage of mined coins that are given to the creators, as some kind of fee, makes it a bit centralized.

I think the issue of low interest has started after distribution schema changes. So, maybe a new and better approach will be implemented later and then price will recover to a better value again.
When the distribution interest rate increased, I wasn't surprised, since Tony stated since the beginning that in the future it would increase for GBYTE holders, and decrease for BTC holders.

The last change, AFAIK, it's a step towards merchant adoption, also not much of a problem. Now, if it changes again... I would be worried.

They list a lot of sh*tcoins in their website, but that doesn't mean it's a bad service. User experience is what counts.

Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die?

Right now, a global power outage would be a big problem. But once we have bitcoin satellites in space, only a catastrophe at the cosmic level would be a problem that could put Bitcoin at existential risk.

I agree, but right now BTC is ATHing everyday, so it's a special situation. It makes sense that people dump alts.
Hopefully, when BTC will dump and stabilize we will see green everywhere.

Well guess what's going to happen with many alts when sidechains, drivechains, atomic swaps and lightning network gets implemented in Bitcoin??
A huge amount of altcoins will probably decrease even more in value.
Altcoins will be the new type of penny stocks. That's it. When you know how to trade them you will and can make great money with it. But don't expect anything big to happen with them. 5-10 coins may have serious value, the resit will stay as pump and dump.
Something like DAG + witness based system would never be implemented in Bitcoin, so Byteball may remain one of the few unique cryptocurrencies.

I don't know if it goes to the moon, but can be an interesting experiment.

If you refer to cloud mining companies, I've only seen scams so far. (if not scams, very bad investments)

Regarding companies providing mining equipment, I would recommend Canaan. (https://canaan.io/)

Re: What is the best source of bitcoin nowadays?

I think the best source of income is that obtained through a good service. If you are able to create a service or product with great potential and that differs from anything in the market, the chances of profit are very great.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I myself would not invest, not only because of all the risks surrounding cloud mining, but also because I suspect that the only people getting good ROI are those involved in large referral campaigns.

Re: Does ETC have any genuine upside potential? Or more like Litecoin?
by
andyblocks

Ethereum Classic has more potential than many other cryptocurrencies, but I would not put a lot of money into it.
If ETH changes the algorithm to PoS, ETC may have a chance, but ETC does not have the developers Ethereum has, and this can make development much more difficult.

Re: You should never trust banks
by
andyblocks
on 03/04/2017, 20:48:20 UTC
The whole concept of banking is just a big sham, You give them your money and they use that very money to make profit afterwards they charge you all sort of taxes from the money. They can close your account at any time and freeze your asset at any given time.
These rates make things complicated for many people. Things could be much better if such banks did not suffer so much influence from governments. If such institutions did not have to pay high taxes, customers would benefit from it.
