Speaking as a fellow Virginian and a customer, this is some bullshit. I hope they get their foot off your neck.

I also reside in Virginia and this thread comes as no surprise to me, the Commonwealth will fuck someone over hard for all kinds of dumb shit.

So what happened to that 72 hours? You should probably get more confirmations and do more investigating before you list companies as scamming.

Re: MtGox account in the USA has been seized by the DHS?

This.... is frightening.

Why? Bitcoin is bound to get some kind of government response before it can truly take over the world and this may very well be the start of something like that. This is about as frightening as losing your first teeth; nothing but growing pains that will go away after a while.

I'm sure others thought that same thing right before the U.S. government crushed them.  Wink

I use Dwolla to Mt. Gox all the time and it usually takes around 10 minutes or so for my Dwolla deposit to show up in my Mt. Gox account.

Re: 0.2 Reputation Loan
by
anexsia
on 10/05/2013, 04:24:47 UTC
BTCJAM basically runs off reputation, most loans on there are reputation building loans. It works there, why should it not work here. If I was in the position to loan BTC's to help other people and someone asked for a 3BTC loan, I would want too see evidence of past trades on here. If they had a good few that were paid back, I would be more likely to lend to them. That is the case on BTCJAM.

If I have a record of successfully pay back loans, I will be a safer person to loan too rather than a new account with 10 comments. I am not saying it will prove that I will not run off with your money, but that is where you have to trust me. I have too much to lose if I was too do that. I am here to stay in the community and in Bitcoin. I have created a site dedicated to helping others. I am a moderator on Coin Visitor chat and am on there most days chatting to people and offering a helping hand.

All I can do is promise you once again that I will not scam anyone, ever. I am not like that. I am willing to give away all my personal details if thats what I have too do to prove to everyone that I am a legit person who wants to have a positive input on the currency and community.

Andy B

Instead of going through all of this trouble, why not just keep participating on this forum and build up your reputation that way? It seems like more people are willing to trust someone they see posting a lot/for a length of time on here rather then someone just requesting a bunch of reputation loans. It might be more worthwhile for you to just forget about a reputation loan and concentrate on building up trust posting here and then if you ever need a loan...you'll know what section of the forum to come to Smiley.

yes they are not good.  I opened an acct with them and tried to transfer out some BTC and they held it up for 48 hours and cost me about $100 probably.

Why did they cost you $100? They tell you right on their website that they have a 48 hour rule for new accounts.

Hello, I've been buying BTC from VirWox for about 12 days. I got my account leveled up and could buy more BTC each day.
Until I got my account suspended, for no reason. I knew this could happen as I heard before, they don't like people to buy just BTC, but once you get contact them, they'll restore your account.
Not my case, they said they'll refund the money. I said I'll report them as SCAM as this is unacceptable, I bought BTC at USD 70, now the price is USD 120.

They can do whatever they like with the BTC, I guess if the BTC lowers the price, there's no problem, but if the BTC price rises, they'll keep the BTC and sell them by themselves to make the profit. There's no problem sir, we'll refund like nothing ever happened.

I've got a Level 4 account with Virwox that I've been using for close to a year just buying BTC using Paypal and Credit Card and I have never had a single problem with them. What was their response about your account suspension?

Re: Will "satoshi" ever login again?

Best way for him to prove who he is, is to sign a message using his PGP key. Though he may have thrown it out. I know I would have, since it would be too tempting to keep around, and any random newb coming in claiming to be Satoshi will be laughed out rather quickly. So, really, Satoshi can safely stay on this forum, since if he says he's Satoshi, no one will believe him. For example, I'm Satoshi  Grin (Which is all something who was real Satoshi would say and want you to think.)

No, I'm Satoshi  Wink.

Re: How long to break through 150
by

Unfortunately MtGox will be DDOS'd, and the price will go back to 100'ish. This is what has happened the entire couple week(s) now. I doubt it will go to 150 this month, maybe next month. Or if there is no attack on the biggest exchange.

Or more exchanges come online to give Mt.Gox a bit more competition.

Funnily enough, all of Gox's competition seems to be ending up closed due to hacks, "hacks", regulatory problems or bankruptcy.

I'm just sayin'....

Good point, I'm okay with having my money or bitcoins in Mt. Gox because it seems like other exchanges get "hacked" all of the time and a majority of their users never recover their funds or bitcoins. I really hate when Mt. Gox gets DDOS'd BUT I still trust them more then the other exchanges.

I was trying to get my account verified there and it took weeks for support to reply to my e-mail so I ended up going with Mt. Gox instead. I'll probably try using CampBX again in the future as I have heard good things about them but I just wasn't impressed with my first experience trying to contact support.

Porn is usually the lead in adapting new technologies..got to love their ingenuity.

I work in the adult industry and I have to respectfully disagree with this statement (at least when it comes to the internet porn industry). Many adult websites and adult companies have closed up shop because they refused to adapt to changing technology and the internet.

However, there's been a lot of talk about bitcoins on the adult industry forums lately and there are a lot of us who are promoting the benefits of adding the option to pay using bitcoins on adult membership sites.

I used to love selling items on eBay but you're right, they're charging higher fees that really do start to add up. I just sold an old Radeon 4870 videocard on there for around $50 and with the ebay fee and the high shipping fee (it's been awhile since I have been an active seller and I didn't realize just how much it costs to ship via UPS now) I walked away with only about $30 in profit Sad.

Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs

Hi guys,

I'm a Litecoin mining newbie and I was wondering if someone could help me out with my Reaper config?

I'm mining LTC with an Radeon 6870 1GB using Reaper (because for some reason I can't get cgminer to work) and I'm getting about 280kh/s BUT when I'm running Reaper...my computer becomes pretty unresponsive and sometimes I get a lot of stales. I'm mining using the Pooledbits.com LTC pool and accumulating about 0.8 Litecoins daily if that matters any.

Here's my current Reaper config:

worksize 256
aggression 18
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 18
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 6144

Is there any optimal settings I should be adjusting for my 6870 and is there a way I can make it so my computer isn't so unresponsive while running Reaper and I can actually browse the web normally/do other tasks while running it?

Thanks!

Any services that take bank deposits now that Bitinstant no longer does it?

I always purchased my bitcoins by using Bitinstant to bitcoin address and making a cash deposit at Bank Of America but now that Bitinstant no longer offers this option...is there any other service that has the same thing available?
