Re: [ANNOUNCE] BitcoinStats.org - Graph of recent transaction confirmation times.

Why does the graph on the transaction timer page start at -8.3? Shouldn't it start at 0? Or is it so you can better see those transactions which took less than a minute?

Image looks like something you'd find on one of those sites where you enter a friend's info and get something to prank them with.

Re: Thoughts on a bitcoin alternative backed by gold?

The fact is one day gold and silver will be easily synthesized by advanced nuclear technology. Synthetic value like Bitcoin is inevitable.

Welcome to the future.

I think we're a long, long way off from Star Trek replicators. Wink

Re: PayPal - good or bad?
by
annelions
on 27/09/2011, 03:19:56 UTC
I've never had a paypal account so I wanted to try and get some feedback from the bitcoin community about the service.  I understand how a paypal account can have value and why someone would want to create one.  I've also heard bad things about paypal and how they can be very heavy handed.

Any constructive replies will be very much appreciated  Smiley

Used it in the past for online purchases since it was easy enough, though I never kept any kind of balance; I would have the amount needed for payment wired to the account, and pay from there.

If you are going to make any transfers to it from a bank/credit union, see what, if any, fees your bank has for doing transfers.

I've never seen any bank with fees for PP withdrawals/deposits. From what I can tell, as far as the bank is concerned, PP withdrawals and deposits work like regular checks. More or less. It's not an account to account transfer, which DOES cost money (I think my bank charges about $35 for that).

I wonder if you accidentally sent it twice to everyone yesterday? I have the same in my wallet, except 2 credits for 0.0005.

Careful, you'll get a CRAP load of spam doing those offers.

Just sign up with a temporary email address. Make a gmail account just for spam. Life gets easier. Wink

Re: Selling my FULL signature space, only 1 BTC a month!
by

I have 100+ posts. Buying my signature space for advertising is a great way to get your message around the forums Smiley
PM me for moar info.
I would love to advertise in a pretty girl's sig! Can my advertisement be anything? This seems like a good service Smiley Could my advertisement be "Tonka Branded Truck (link to my profile) is my Boyfriend"? Or do I have to actually be your boyfriend first? I could add a "tip" if it would help make our romance above-board. Please PM me! Can't wait to get this happening.

You want to advertise in the signature of a guy pretending to be a girl so that he can scam other people out of bitcoins? Brilliant.

Seven kids in ~20 (or just 10?) years? I think more kids die each year in waterparks and fenced pools than that total. I don't hear anyone yelling to get rid of pools. Ridiculous.

If you're going to sell Kinder Eggs, I'd be very careful. There was a Canadian site that used to sell whole Kinder Eggs (by the case, too) to the US. I was tempted to order from 'em. Apparently, they caught the attention of Customs and/or the USPS and the last I saw, they only sold the toys from inside the egg. Not as much fun at all, IMO.

There's also TradeHill.com, though I've not used them (or Mt.Gox either).

Nowhere does anyone ever say, as far as I'm aware, that lottery tickets are "risk-free" either.

It may or may not be more "honest" and less of a scam than other Ponzi schemes, but I do have to disagree with

BitPonzi is a great way to start your bitcoin experience with a decent-sized wallet.

It's actually a great way to lose your bitcoins.  Tongue

Thank you. Can the creator like add that to the FAQ... it's very misleading if he touts it as a bitcoin exchange like mtgox. then it's a trading scheme. I mean forex bullcrap thingymagig.

It is in the FAQ. Second question:

To make things simple, there are no deliveries of Bitcoins. If you are looking for an exchange that gets you actual Bitcoins, we recommend Mt. Gox and TradeHill. If you just want to make some quick bucks in the hot market, Bitcoinica is definitely for you!

I don't know what your problem is, but I've used Bitcoinica just fine for the past several days. I don't know what you did exactly, but it's fairly clear that you're having difficulty grasping how certain things work.

The exchange is not 'poop'. It would certainly work better if you were to READ. Go hit 'withdraw'. It works. Really. It does. I've even tried it.
