Carl Force, the second of two former US agents charged with pocketing hundreds of thousands
of dollars in bitcoin during the Silk Road investigation, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Force agreed to plead guilty to charges including money laundering and extortion. Force’s agreement
follows a similar deal reached on June 17 with Shaun Bridges, a US Secret Service agent who worked
with Force on the same Baltimore task force.

The Asia-Pacific region led by China is quickly catching up to the West in terms of wealth.

With the accelerating pace of innovation in mobile communications and fintech, the region
is expected to not only leapfrog the US & Europe by 2019, but also integrate millions
of unbanked people into the global economy.

I actually think it may happen sooner than that, what do you reckon?

Why cannabis industry really need its own altcoin?
by

on 15/06/2015, 17:34:48 UTC

Cannabis is a huge industry and its own altcoin, Maryjanecoin is a cryptocurrency tailored to suit its needs.
MaryJanecoin developer says his coin will allow employers to pay their employees without the need to carry large amounts of cash.
WTF, fiat currencies provide plenty of ways to pay electronically, so what’s the real reason for them to want to use a crypto coin?

I think yes. Blockchain, is one of the best technologies, like other applications, it will only be soon that it will be adopted in different areas and will find different uses.
Thats why people are now investing millions in this tech.

I agree with that. I forsee many possible ways it can be used for other things. Why hasn't voting been implemented already ?

New cool uses of blockchain technology are already being developed by these guys.

It's from this contest that I found out about the child milliomaire from Dubai.

Fascinating. My vote's for the lucky little guy.

No less fascinating is the story of Kevin who bought 259,684 BTC.

Looks like the contest ends today.

I wonder if we'll see anything really interesting, not some obvious stuff.

Sounds like they're still accepting articles - I went for one of the smaller prizes and hope to win.

[DarkNote XDN] Looking for a Co-Founder for a store
by
annoyingorange
on 21/01/2015, 15:01:01 UTC
Hello.

I’m really fond of CryptoNote technology and have mined several CN-based coins since launch. I’ve been following cryptomarket for a lot of time and and I do consider XDN very promising coin. Current crypto trends are favoring technologically advanced coins and XDN is confirming this statement, price is going up.

I’ve decided to invest some of my funds in XDN infrastructure. Currently I’m cooperating with DarkNoteBooks store but I do not want to stop there. I would like to open marketplace or a shop that will accept XDN as a primary currency and I’m looking for a co-founder. It has to be experienced and active person that would create, promote and support the idea.

Amount of the cash investment is highly negotiable, depends purely from the scale of the project and the result. I will also provide my knowledge of economics and marketing. For additional details please ask me here, through PM or contact me via email: richardorside at gmail.com

Also, any kind of requests about shop theme are welcome in this thread.

A smart thing to do would be wait until the last day you can predict

Ok. Here we are he night before RC5 will hit, and the price seem to be on sale mode.

I dont get this anymore. There is no logic in the price at all.

Looks like all long-term-fans already «prepared» - bought all DRKs they can afford to buy…
And all «clever» traders waiting for announcement to start massive selling simultaneously.
The result will be… as usual. Sad But after drop Darkcoin will start growing again - because it is great!

You said it, 'bro! Who cares about the current price? There is no coin out there that can compete with us technologically, once we build the network we will approach and overtake BTC in price per coin (marketcap will take longer due to the amount of Bitcoins). Seriously, once people wake up to the possibilities, this is going to be exciting!

I'm rooting for DRK myself but let's be realistic here. Nobody overtakes BTC in years to come, especially anons.

Hi guys

I've made my first Darkcoin investment only about 2btc for now. I'm trying to learn more about the Darkcoin technology and it's all really confusing to me. It will probably take me a while to get even a slight grasp on this. My question is, am I able to earn interest with my coins? Thanks

Good for you kazz05 and thanks for your post. I see you've already been answered by:

so you probably have about 326 Darkcoins, right? to earn interest you'd need to run a masternode. masternodes are complicated to set up, and each masternode requires 1,000 Darkcoins. when you run a masternode you randomly get payments, on average about 0.66 Darkcoins per day. if you can't afford to buy 1,000 Darkcoins, it's possible to join a group of investors who split the payments according to their shares.

and

plus you've had the standard "warm welcome" from our gun toting Florida swamp dwelling "I hate everything that's not me" "shoot first ask questions later (and if you're a female don't even bother with the questions 'cause you're just a piece of shit)" nasty bro. He's quite knowledgeable about crypto in general, just not someone you want to take too seriously.

Here is the info if you are interested Smiley If you buy 1,000 darkcoins you can set up a masternode and have a continuous income like most people in this thread Wink
Masternodes are cornerstone of what darkcoin does best - anonymous transactions

How profitable is it to run a masternode? What's the lowest requirements for the hardware?

Once Evan opensources and we get a stable release the push for adoption can begin in earnest.
I dont see why the price should move much at this juncture as most of the people who believe in DRK have already gone in to the full extent that they are willing to at this point, most of the volume right now is daytraders and bots trying to squeeze profit from the markets.
It is only with realworld adoption and commercial usage of DRK that will see sustained increases in demand.

Precisely.  But a little publicity along the way wouldn't do any harm.  Positive or negative.

Terzo, are you ok?  Do you need medical assistance?  You just keep posting "This user is currently ignored" over and over again.

Why don't we crowdfund the development? It shouldn't be a great burden for such a big community as ours. That should accelerate the development process and add some motivation to the devs.

Anyone care to comment on this:

THE FACTS ABOUT DARK COIN

1. released without windows QT so that only dev and pals could mine it.

2. Instamined harder than any other coin out there  12.5% of the current minting was mined in the first day

3. Later they decided to cut the minting by 75% to turn their 12.5% instamine with no windows QT into 50% instamine in 24hours - nice hey

yes that is correct they mined 50% of all the coins available at this time by themselves in the first 24 hours whilst windows users could not mine.

That is the facts.... doesn't matter what else they say... nothing can change what they have done.

Once zero coin, or bytecoin with a decent wallet it released or another darkcoin clone is released.... dark coin will sink like a stone.

EDIT: taken from another thread. Just wanted a clear answer not a load of FUD from bag holders with dick sucking fetishes.

Looks like a load of crap. Where did you get it from? And were there any proofs mentioned?

Neither Braintree nor Coinbase have announced when bitcoin payment processing will begin. Who knows, it may never begin Wink Insubstancial impact on BTC price caused by this announxement is justified. And I don't see how it was supposed to move DRK price one way or another.

Hey! I've come across a few ardent Monero supporters the other day and we've gotten in this argument about whose technology for anonymous transactions is more advanced, DRK or XMR. What arguments do we have to shut them up?

You don't shut the competition up, you just friendly smile at them, while you continuously work on becoming better than them.  Grin
Competition is good and should be encouraged, so that the enduser wins.

Coins that shall not be named have all come here and done the same thing.

"We are better, we do this, we do that."

Coins that shall not be named have all been, and gone.

The market decides what it wants.

However, I did make a comment on this xmr thread which has sprung up  recently.

I've read through that thread. Monero is so full of shit, it's unbelievable. I think this is one of the major reasons they are going to fail eventually. They are way too aggressive and insulting. Besides, according to the originator of the thread, Monero turns out to be an hoax! How unfortunate  Grin

An attempt at humor, I suppose. Where do you see price rising?

Just a quick note On "Gotta have those Fundamentals"...

DRK on RC2 release: climb to 0.0277
DRK on RC4 release: nosedive to 0.004815

It has to be said that that really is some indictment on what has been the single most consistent theme of this entire thread - that the price will go to the "moon" and become unaffordable once the various release candidates are out.

I'm quite heavily invested in DRK - not as much as Bitcoin cos it would be against my principles to be (a now thoughroughly vindicated principle btw) - but my biggest single alt investment at 2 and a bit masternodes worth. I wrote that investment off long ago because I know that markets can take a different view of a product from my own, but geeeeeezzzz, the last couple of months must have been one big choking on humble pie learning process for some I imagine.

There are lots of things to be excited about with this project but one of them definitely isn't the price any more. I'm not saying that it couldn't one day take off again. DRK's approach to anonymity is largely unique and is becoming more mature with the passing of every week. At the same time, it could all turn out to be no more than an interesting experiment with no long term commercial impact. (I still lean towards the latter of those two in my own appraisal of the situation).

We are now at 17% of the late May price. Less than a fifth of the value at that time.

You can't blame this on "market manipulation", whales dumping or any other nonsense. Prices change because there is more supply than demand - end of story. A large seller "checking out" only affects the price if there's insufficient demand.

I'm not surprised by this state of affairs because I was there in the MAZA, CINNI, JACKPOT, BLACK, YOUNAMEIT threads when people were saying "wait 6 months and...". The pattern was always the same. Luckily I made money on all of those by not swallowing the propaganda.

The difference here is that this is the only coin I've stayed invested in because I actually do think it has a future (technically at least if not as an investment vehicle).

All I can say is that it's been as interesting a socio-economic experiment as it has a technical one. I hope others will stay invested but with more realistic expectations (not much choice really, eh !!). The thread will return to it's pre-pump industrious character and we can continue to enjoy this project's long term technical evolution while maybe getting excited about the odd bump in market cap.

This is the most objective and accurate post I have read in this thread for a very long time.

Put your thick skin on because you're likely to get chewed on for stating facts.

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said here. However DRK will lose the chunk of the user base that is mainly interested in price speculation. And there's two sides to that coin, first - DRK will lose on transactions volume and market cap; and second - the DRK community will become more refined which is great.
