Re: Campaigns for Newbie to get Bitcoin
by

There were some signature campaigns for newbies, I don't remember which. I think it is better to keep working your way up and then slowly take part in high paying signature campaigns.

I don't think that it is too late. People with patience can still invest into bitcoin and make some gains. Don't expect to make massive returns. Better late than never.

You can still invest in bitcoin and make money. But I feel it is much better to invest into some good altcoins as well and hold them for some time. They have even more potential to reward the investor than bitcoin.

Re: We need to do something about all the scams

Hey there,

I am a blockchain developer and most of my work consists in auditing Blockchain projects, criticising their use-case and proposing solutions and guidances.
What really kills me is the amount of scams and useless projects based on economic scarcity, fomo and proof of stupidity (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1ZYGuJXBQE)

The reasons why we have to fight scams are fairly simple:
- Scams attract regulators
- More scams attract more scammers
- People invest blindly but if given the change to understand a project based on a professional analysis I'm sure many will think twice between sending those guys money.
- You know what is worse than exit scams? Shell projects that never get finished or have no traffic because their use case is pure BS.

I propose listing all the ICO scams here that can't correctly justify their use case, presumably scams:

* EQUI https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2888110.0
The guys weren't able to justify the use of their token and don't answer to critics and questions. More importantly they provide a passive return on investment which fails the Howey test (http://consumer.findlaw.com/securities-law/what-is-the-howey-test.html). They use their public image in order to attract suckers. Based on their use of proceeds they reserve 30% in order to develop the platform. 30% of 72 million to develop a react website with a postgres database and link it to infura (i assume they didn't even think about that). Laughable at best.

Now that's a good post. I think investors need to do their homework and only then invest. Lot of people are interested and blinded by greed to make x2 to x10 times of their money invested in ICOs and they simply forget about scammers and how they operate.

Re: Best tip on saving money

Hi guys! Can you share some tried and tested tricks on making the most out of your buck and also some tips on how to save money more effectively. This will be a heck of a help to our fellow users here. Thank you so much.

When you get your wages or salary save some of it first before spending on anything. And forget about it. Do this each time when you get your salary or wages. You can out a notification in your cell phone calendar. That works for me. I save about 10 to 20% of my wages and invest some into crypto and other into my saving account. I used to invest into the stock market and some mutual funds. But now it's just cryptos and savings account.

Re: When will Apple accept bitcoins?

My humble opinion is, if Apple feels that they can capitalize on bitcoin and make a hefty profit, then they will jump in. But for now, it doesn't look like they are planning to jump in. The confirmation time of bitcoin is a major issue for all businesses. Value fluctation is another one.

Yeah, I am expecting some big players to enter into bitcoin and into other cryptocurrencies. There are a lot of people who were waiting for bitcoin to correct a bit and I think they will jump in soon.

I have been using it to invest, trade and gamble a bit. I still haven't faced any real emergencies for cash. So I decided to hold on to my BTC for a little longer and enjoy the gains.

We will see such crashes in bitcoin because bitcoin appreciated so much in so little time so it would be healthy to see some correction. Also, there will be traders would be love to lock in some profits. It's totally normal in crypto universe.

Bitcoin has the power to give wealth to the people. But those people need to take some risk and invest in bitcoin. People who are poor usually do not risk their money in cryptocurrencies.

People have to pay taxes else how will the government function? I believe a good citizen will have to pay their taxes to the government. I pay my taxes though I have many arguments.

Just buy into good projects. Don't buy into shitcoins if you can't handle the pump and dump. I think projects such as singular dtv, waves,  neo, decent have the right ingredients to be successful in the long run. Buy their tokens and tokens of projects like them. Buy. Hold. Forget.

Re: Facebook and Crypto,How do you see?

It is awesome for the crypro community to get crypto currencies noted by facebook. I think we will see the blockchain technology being used by facebook in one way or the other. Facebook may even have a crypto currency of its own. This will bring in more users to the cryptocurrency world and we can expect to see more fiat flowing into cryptocurrencies.

Re: ETH or Waves?

Both option are good. I am holding 400 waves and some eTH but i think waves holding can bring more profit than ethereum. You have to decide which option you will choose.

Exactly! Both seems good and holding them in the long term portfolio is an excellent idea. But Waves have more room to reward the investors as etheruem has already appreciated well in value. Remember, waves have limited supply and smart contracts are coming.

Surely there are scams out there and if investors are not careful, they can loose a lot of money in scams. Invest only an amount that you have no problem in loosing. Scamers are getting smarter and smarter. Stay safe guys!

I am buying into SNGLS, ICN, DCT, WAVES and NEO. I think these coins and a good team and a growing community. They are set to grow and hit their goals and ambitions in the coming months. Buy them on dips and HODL.

Re: HODL or REGRET!!!
by
anonbit992
on 26/01/2018, 19:53:28 UTC
After making several major mistakes in the past I realized that buying cheap coins and holding them is best idea.
I missed to buy ether because of all "warnings" how ethereum is bad. I had more or less 100 dash when its price was 4$. I had lots litecoin which I have sold for - 10$. I had lots altcoins in january 2016. and I've sold them all. I sold my bitcoins for 500$. Last year I sold them for 2400$.
I regret all my past decisions.

Don't worry. You can still make an investment plan and buy into some promising coins and hold on to them. Crypto is still growing and my philosophy is sell them only if you badly need money to achieve your financial goals. Otherwise it's a HODL for me.

This volatility is part of the crypto game. If you are brave, you will be able to hold on to your bitcoin and will come out in flying colours. Remember that fortune favours the brave. Just Hold and forget. You can also diversify into other altcoins and stay put.
