Added trust flag in OP. Yeah I know it was dumb but I was just looking for a quick deal, and since he is an old member I trusted him. I usually don't do this type of deals, guess I should have sticked to that rule.

I'll just post the screen of the message where I sent him the code, the rest of the conversation it's just me talking to no one because he never replied me after that. https://i.imgur.com/n7lGwGw.png
Yeah I know I was dumb but fortunately I tried with a small amount, this thread is mostly to warn other users to not deal with him.

I'm buying BTC, ETH or any other coin you have available that I may be interested, I'm paying with PayPal +10% of current rate.
I will only deal with trusted users or we can use an escrow if there's one available.
For now I'm interested in just buying small amounts, so it would be preferable to deal with coins with lower fees.

You can contact me through private message.

Re: I wonder if the forum would be much better without signatue campaigns

I agree with you in a way that the forum discussion would be better but it would remove all the traffic from the forum. Just look at the replies of this thread and most of them have a signature campaign and of course that all of them are against this. My advice is, just use this forum occasionally, try to go around through different forums and sites and not just focus on one, it's good to go through different opinions and different types of communities. This is something I've noticed for a long time but never bothered to post, that's why I never used this forum that much, but my concern with signature campaigns is not just the posts from newbies or trolls, but mostly because of the forced discussion it creates, where you realize that the same type of topics get repeated to death, and most of the replies are repeated and don't add much from one another, but everyone posts because everyone wants to fill their quota to meet the requirements to get paid from their sponsors.

It created a kind of robotic conversation, it almost seems like most of the replies and bot made or copied from a repository with different deviations. But this is a general problem with cryptocurrency, most of the forums or communities are similar, with different ways of forcing discussion and getting popularity (like reddit with karma, etc) that there isn't a better place to go.

Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty?
by

By the contrary, if Bitcoin continuous to be seen as simple an investment and with the increasing of the price it will be even more concentrated in a few rich people. The more the price increases, the few people has access to it because of the huge fees and there's no incentive for poor people to use Bitcoin.

I'm just amazed how there are always dumb people angry for falling for the same trap over and over again... What do they expect? An unregulated and volatile market full of "investors" without any comprehension or coherence who can be easily manipulated is a walk in the park for a businessman with a lot of money and influence in the social media. The problem is this won't be the last time it will happen and it will eventually be the downfall for bitcoin and the origin of the regulated cryptocurrencies.

I think it was a good idea to buy that domain. A .com domain is seen as more trustworthy and is easier to remember. Even though it won't change much about BitBay's exposure it is still a good step.

I may be a pessimistic but unfortunately it seems that crypto is deviating from it's original purpose and if coins like bay don't play the game they will never reach public view. Everyone is just looking for the dumb money nowadays.

Re: lets imagine world without fiat currency

It is impossible with Bitcoin in its current state. Even if we put aside the problems of huge fees, volatility, no privacy, imagine a global currency with limited supply. Now imagine you are living in a pandemic where people are put in a lockdown, some lose jobs, others can't work, others are dependent of the state(?), etc. Now there is no entity to print Bitcoin to give a boost to the economy, unless we change the code, those in need simply will have nothing. Those with the most Bitcoin will just hold, which eventually will lead to rise the value of Bitcoin giving no hope to the poorest, it will become more and more centralized with time.

Well, this was just a quick thought but the more and more I think about it the more I realize that Bitcoin in its current state would just bring more problems than solutions.

Re: Storing your Crypto in Exchanges is better than using Cold Wallets!
by
anonimogmr
on 14/09/2020, 15:51:38 UTC
It is clear that for you cryptocurrency is only about profit. If you are willing to trust a 3rd party with your keys for 8% interest (if that even exists) maybe you don't have much invested or you are just naive. What exactly do you think was the vision of Satoshi Nakamoto when he created Bitcoin? Do you think centralized exchanges follow that vision?

More and more people are moving away from banks to cryptocurrency in general precisely to be able to remove the 3rd party. To take some responsibility and control their finances. It is difficult obviously and things can go bad if you lose your keys but is a risk some of us are willing to take, and you have to have some backups and with time people will develop better ways of securing their keys.

If you are using an exchange to trade constantly that's understandable but if you are using them to store all your funds or a huge part of it, that's just dumb. With what you are suggesting, just keep your funds in your bank! The only downside is you won't have 8% interest annually but if your concern is security a bank is more secure. Centralized exchanges have all the downsides of banks but in steroids! No privacy, security meh, prone to hacks and no refunds, fishy staff, withdrawal limitations, locking accounts and I could go on an on, I mean just check the news and every once in a while there will be exchanges hacks... Just take some responsibility and assume your finances, that's the purpose of cryptocurrency.

Honestly anyone dealing with cryptocurrencies by now should already be using Linux or at least give it a try. Windows is constantly being attacked and antivirus or anti-malware problems are definitely not the solution as they can also be attacked and give a false sense of security. For starters, give Linux Mint a try.

Re: DEX tokens/coins - The new gold rush?
by

I have to disagree, it will probably take a long time until they can rivalize with CEX. Centralized exchanges play a huge part in crypto space and it seems that they won't go away soon. They will probably co-exist in the future, but for now CEX provide the convenience users want while DEX are still very complicated to use and the liquidity is pretty much non-existent.

My advice is to stay away from CMC. Fortunately there are many alternatives and it is wise to check different ones and compare them to each other so you can take your own conclusions. There have been many complaints about CMC not being trusted and faking volume, and now with Binance acquiring it I expect to be much worse.

Your homepage calls an instant exchange "https://xchange.me/". If I try to use it, it fails with a generic error message "Failed to prepare exchange. Please try again later". I tried several assets, all the same.

Is this exchange serious? Has anybody made successfull exchanges with it? Can I use it with the TOR network? Answers appreciated.

I'm not sure from where did you got that link. In order to use the exchange, you have to download the Blocknet wallet and the exchange application, go here https://blockdx.co/index

There have been trades already but the exchange is still being developed and obviously the liquidity is low.

I installed block-dx version 1.6.0 on Ubuntu on 18.04.4 LTS to test it.

The link I refer to is "https://docs.blocknet.co/project/exchanges/". I want to buy some BLOCK on the exchange "https://xchange.me/", if possible.

Oh ok, sorry I misunderstood your question. In that I can't help you, I need used that exchange. I usually buy through Bittrex.

Re: Will coronavirus encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly?
by
anonimogmr
on 30/03/2020, 19:07:37 UTC
Why would people change to cryptocurrencies only because they want to stop using cash? They can still use fiat money electronically with debit or credit cards and there are numerous apps to pay with fiat. Unfortunately it seems that cash will gradually become obsolete and unless people understand the fundamentals of some cryptocurrencies and want a decentralized currency, they are still going to use fiat money electronically.
