I know Eth's price will most probably keep on rising; mining and keeping it is a good strategy. But I just can't shake off the temptation of making 10x by investing in some small coins.

First of all, do your own research. The decision should be yours and yours only, all we can do is speculate.
You want something around $2, you can check the following:
HST, SUB, XRP...or maybe even buy some XLM (less then $1 even).

I think eventually, TRX will moon. The problem is, in crpytospace, timespans are really really short. It can go to top 10 in 2 days or disappear into oblivion at the same time.

Bounty or Airdrop? what is the most easiest way to earn tokens?
Well, airdrops are essentially free, with just following and liking on twitter and facebook respectively. Bounties require work. If you see a good amount of bounty and you see potential in the project, you can for that. The coin might increase in value exponentially in months or maybe years.

Why do even such coins exist?
I have seen so many alt coins that were cheaper and I was holding on to ETH thinking it will pave out. I wish i bought altcoins with it as that would got me some profits.

I was watching VERGE xvg recently when it was less than 1 cent. today it is 25 cents. I wish that I had invested in it when My gut instincts was for it.
Did not want to loose the only ether as i lost my Previous eth in Confido scam. Please advise.
If you ask me, ETH has the highest potential to give you "good" returns. Other relatively new ALTs might give you exceptional returns, but the risk is also higher.
Maybe just wait, let it reach $2,000 and then use some portion of it for ALTs.

I have no patience to continue to hold ETC, because other tokens have already had a good increase, but ETC... 
I think ETC has had the slowest movement of all altcoins. Really frustrating.

I think because the hardware wallet is protected by PIN and acts as a "sender/receiver" directly also.
