So Ripple for shitcoins.

I like it.

i do not know how ripple works.

actually, after I realized newbie interest, i decided to make mining possible right of the bat. All i want to know is are people comfortable with the buy-in scheme for old coins. Since i do not own a escrow service it will have to be manually done via thread.... which tiresome as it is, i will do.
Ripple is literally this but with fiat currency and BTC.

Manual buy ins sound terrible, fix that ASAP.

I'd also rather not mine.

Manual buy in is terrible, but buy in is one of the promises i made about this coin. I'm not happy about the manual part because it means more work for me. I've tried contacting most escrows but either they are uninterested or they want more than i can safely provide. My ideas are open ideas, for community use, development and benefit. If you can help find two escrow services willing to assist, that would be great.

it's mine or buy in. Every coin is worthless until us as a community give it value.

So any progress?

holy mother of all altcoins, this is crazy Cheesy

But we need to be careful, somebody using 100+ BTC to buy it, can mean many things. For example speculation by bad people and that might mean that at any given moment they might do huge sell

for about 12 hours I am seeing CAP having 13.00+ profitability and yet not even a single time pool switched to mining bottlecaps? Why so?

CAP is disabled on the multipool due to the problems it was having over the last couple of weeks (forking). Besides, the profitability calculations are off, it should be around 3 http://www.coinchoose.com/. CMC has also been doing well but Flound has not yet enabled it.

CAP is forked yet again, and we are on the smaller fork this time.  Luckily we haven't been mining so it doesn't matter.

I'm not re-enabling CAP until the new client is out and the coin has proven to be stable.  It doesn't matter what the profitability is, if all of our blocks get orphaned the profitability will be 0 and the pool will lose money from blocks already paid out.  I can't operate like that.

That is fine, just hide it from list so we don't get distracted by that number :-)

I am bit confused

Total amount advertised is 90.6 billion
http://coinmarketcap.com says that there are already 69.7 billion mined

so only 19.9 billion left? when it will be reached? in 1-2 months?

Name a major exchange which doesn't accept BTC.
New York Stock Exchange....

It was quite obvious in context to all the others I mean name a major exchange which accepts an alt-coin and DOESN'T accept Bitcoin.

The post I was responding to made it seem like there is this massive flow of investment, talent, development, merchant support, etc AWAY from Bitcoin and towards alt-coins.  That obviously isn't true.  While BTC aren't traded on the NYSE that isn't because for example BTC is dying and the NYSE went with NVC (or some other clonecoin of the week).

Your responses were ... well dumb.  I updated the post to be even more explicit so you no longer need to apply any thinking.

This whole thread is for jokes and sarcasm Wink

My point was - for usual people value of bitcoin and value of other coins i exactly same.

In crypto world - yes bitcoin is leader, but with general population after few years - leader will be the one with best connections and biggest budget for marketing.

And with that in mind - is it really that impossible for other scrypt coin to overcome bitcoin? Let's think about your mentioned NVC .. that is russian coin ... now imagine all those crazy russian billionaires buying biggest castles in world and buying biggest yachts ... what if they get bored and suddenly want their own money and decide to put few billions in marketing for NVC just because it's russian? What would happen with bitcoin in that case? Bitcoin as completely decentralised currency doesn't have significant investment from anyone and so is easy target for everyone with money to overrule.

Don't get offended - just discussing that bitcoin has it's own flaws and it's base idea of decentralization is not definitely proof of success. Things can easily turn around at any given moment.

Tokyo Stock Exchange
London Stock Exchange
Hong Kong Stock Exchange

Toronto Stock Exchange
Deutsche Börse

should I continue?

Don't get me wrong - this thread is ridiculous, but thinking that bitcoin has gained "real traction" is only little bit less ridiculous Smiley

In normal news for people who are not involved in crypto world bitcoin is still something strange and unknown and on same level as other crypto things. There was a little hype few months ago and average person saw bitcoin mentioned about 4 times in general news when there was that big jump in price. since then it was mentioned 0 times in last 3 or something months.

I am talking about news that usual people watch and read.

YouGov/Economist Poll

Have you ever heard of Bitcoin?
Yes    30%
No    70%

Have you ever used Bitcoin?
Yes    0.6%
No    99.4%

Are you sure about PPD for those cards? I have tried running my 6870 and it got barely 8,000 ppd. I understand that 7xxx series should be higher, but 32,000 doesn't seem realistic

Were you on Core_17? 8,000PPD sounds like CORE_16 speeds. Smiley

yep 0x17

I agree totally with you and I am going to stick with this coin, keep developing it. Another dedicated VPS Node will be up and running I hope tonight.

You probably need to talk with some experienced people (I am not the one). As far as I see from my wallet debug file, your VPS node at block 147 (may not be completely right) is giving out some wrong/damaged information(ERROR: AcceptBlock() : incorrect proof of work), and gets disconnected because of that (Disconnected 212.48.67.126:22701 for misbehavior (score=100))

I am not developer of coins, so no idea what that means or how to fix that.

EDIT: Found workaround

1. clean your appdata directory
2. install old wallet (the one 2-3 days before)
3. run it and wait for it to sync and go past block 147
4. close it down
5. install new wallet
6. run it, and it continues syncing without any problems

Of course since very beginning add official node to your conf file, otherwise you will wait for years to start syncing

Hmm I will look into that, block 147, when I put the updated version of the client on there, it was a copy of mine. So the mistake might have been to not let to download the whole block chain again possible?

Probably, looks like new wallet can't download from beginning, it doesn't like 147th block. But for some reason old wallet is fine with that block and downloads without saying anything.

What's funny is that the pool is going to have most of the global hashing power, even I am on the pool.
You know you can always run solo as competition for us right?

Yeah I know that but I wanted to test out your great pool that you spent time on.

Just set up my other rig so should be able to get upto 2.2MH soon today. Maybe solo with that.

Not sure what to do with Crimecoin yet, as it was only a test coin but now it seems to be a little more.

Where do you see it going? The way of Liquidcoin ? lol

Or somehow getting some outside press coverage that there is a cryptocoin out now with Crime in the name?

I would look at it this way ... this was testcoin right, so you were learning to create some real coin ... the thing is - people like this one :-) so stick with it, whatever you planned to do with that future real coin, do it with this one and you will be happy and people will be happy. There is no reason to create new one if you already got one. Especially knowing how hard it is to get people like new coins, here you have free pass, so just stick with it.

First of all you need to sort out all problems with nodes/sync/wallet and then start working towards getting usual services, places where to spend coin and of course towards listing on exchanges.

Very much so.

On another note, I had to delete the workers from the pool to try and resolve an issue. Please re-create your workers. I will be paying out manually to those who have Payout addresses assigned to them tomorrow at 1PM GMT for the trouble.

You should update "Getting started" page, I don't think these are right connection details for your pool : "http://pool.grewe.ca:8337"

These are real strange sync problems. I am going to fork out some cash and get a better VPS. I will do that today.

As you guys are mining this coin, which means a lot to me, the least I can do it get it working properly for you.

Are 100% sure that problem is VPS not wallet itself? Maybe downloadable compiled version is different from the one that is in source download, or different from the one that is on your VPS, maybe problem is windows version as I assume on VPS you are running linux version
