Are any miners here from the country of Georgia?

so ive been having a sort of a decentralized mining operation past few years. a few asics & a full node here; a few there. been thinking of setting up sth like this in Georgia, for obvious reasons. ive been hearing about it as a bitcoin friendly nation for about 3 years now. all comments are welcomed.
in particular looking to see if anyone here has any local experience & cares to share.

Re: Ripple vs. Ether; get ready for the next battle!

so many replies! thanks everyone for engaging!! & honestly i've already learned quite some!
it seems, in general, enthusiasts, (sample size is small of course; i'm only referring to the who read & posted on this tread) are more interested in ethereum;
&, at the very least, xrp seems to be battling uphill for the popularity! (whether xrp cares for that or whether their market is affected by that is another topic!!)

i see quite a number of replies pointing out xrp's centralization & are not totally for it!

concidering this:
[...] By contrast, Ripple is totally centralized and you cannot really say that it is a cryptocurrency at all. [...]

& this:
[...] however i do think a cryptocurrencies can be centralized and still be a cryptocurrency.[...

this is quite an interesting topic on its own: whether decentralization is a key factor in defining a cryptocurrency!

nevertheless one thing is obvious & that is, the majority of the posts are bullish in general about the cryptocurrency market, as a whole; which is, again, interesting in its own rights!

[...] Ethereum will comeback and be more valube compared to Ripple if the ICO market gets liven up again so eth could rise.
& about the above! i've been thinking the same thing; last year icos were the movers & shakers of the market but that's so 2017, per se!
now a days anywhere you look, whatever moves the market is the news of regulation & institutional money!
i not sure how i like that; but well!

Ripple vs. Ether; get ready for the next battle!
by
ashkanb
on 30/09/2018, 11:17:08 UTC
Recently, Ripple's been pushing hard for the title of the second crypto!

i've been checking coinmarketcap 50 times a day past few months! & in the past couple of weeks -as of writing of this post- this is exactly the 3rd time Ripple has become the 2nd biggest crypto!

Every time it's been the same: Ripple surges, Ether follows in a few hours to prove dominance; Ripple wave breaks, Ether is back in its position but its market feels semi-stagnant & bored, the Ripple market stays excited & the process repeats!

I can read articles but i'm not much technically inclined!
technologically speaking, does ripple have any actual advantage over ethereum -for ripple to take over ether for good- to settle in the 2nd place?!
Or in terms of technology, they each have their own niches & their market value is mostly derived from their application & outside investment in their application; in that case, which of these two technologies you think are better developed & better marketed? which one you think would be better suited to invest in?

Now i'm curious about this because i do have a policy to save my extra pennies in the form of 3 biggest cryptos every month & would prefer to adjust the percentage of my pennies going into different cryptos less speculatively or emotionally & more scientifically! I don't have the science though; but i'm positive there are a large number of people here who do!!! (also great number of ppl with ulterior motives! i know that too!)
So u knw; give anyone who's interested in this topic your expert opinion or suggest reads or just battle it out! thanks for your participation in advance!

(yes i knw, old acc haven't posted in ages! how come now? whats with that? been transferred?! nope! just long ass family problem that is now resolved & spare time being spent productively, hopefully!)
(title, Tekken pun intended!)

sorry for the long post!  Tongue

Here is their official thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=280806

Have you tried contacting them via this email ? support@bter.com They might give you ETA when site will up again. Couldn't find anything about this downtime in their ANN thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=80096 is the one who have created that ANN thread here so he/she might help you but it looks like that account haven't made any login in last 6 days.

I haven't used them till now.

Thanks; read on the same thread that the email is apparently not working!

how can I contact these guys?

Might try contacting freeworm; hardly doubt it'll get me anywhere!

completely forgot i had any in bter; up until yesterday!
checked on them & decided to pull them out to their respective wallet;
then this happened; before i got the chance to make the withdraw!

Now its back to error 521!
Does anyone know what's going on there? (Their official account here has never been active!)

Re: Question the profitability of running 5 x rx480
by
ashkanb
on 28/08/2016, 10:10:39 UTC
I am running 5 RX 480 on a windows 7 on a nanopool. A rough calculation is that I make $150 a month from all 5 cards. My investment into it is about $2000 and my ROI is about a year. Are my calculation right??

your calculations are not right!
your ROI is the difference in the price you paid for the hardware & the hardware's resale value!
so if you paid $2000 for your hardware & you can sell them for, idk, $1500, your ROI is $500!
if you have fairly priced electricity you'll most probably roi & will make some profit; don't be much stressed about it!

Re: Has anyone ever traded on Bter?
by
ashkanb
on 13/08/2016, 10:36:17 UTC
since august 4th i've moved all my trading activities (which is not much) to Bter.
haven't had any significant issues with them ever since!
all deposits, withdrawals, & trades have gone through properly; no probs!
the only thing is, i don't like the charts on the trading page; they're too simplistic & uncostumizeable!!

do note though, i'm not a vigorous trader by any means!
i mostly receive altcoin mining pool deposites in my wallets there, exchange for btc & whitdrawl.
they do have a BTC0.0106 withdraw ceiling which is fine by me!

i mostly mine & barely ever trade (only fiddling around as a hobby with pocketful worth of fiat!) i'm not eligible;
i'm curious tho, op if you don't mind, care to share this "very popular facebook group dedicated to crypto currencies" for all of us to enjoy the content, as well?
if these interviews ever happen, i'll be interested in reading them too, js, good luck!

Re: What Is Bitcoin Trading and Why It's risky?
by
ashkanb
on 06/08/2016, 16:23:44 UTC
its not like whenever you buy an asset it's bound to go up in value!
if trading was that simple everyone would just be buying things, selling them at a higher price & be done with it!
it requires knowledge, skill, experience & an understanding of the underlying events forming the value of the market you're trying to involve yourself in!

for a start drop by investopedia.com, the site has an entire section dedicated to trading;
there are numerous amazing, informative & free articles there about the mechanics, fundamentals of trading & everything else markets;
(the articles are not directly related to cryptocurrencies but the principal is universal!)

good lol readin' all that;
not sure i agree with op about etc going up "like there's no stopping"...
etc's no magic, just another alt, is already a bumpy ride & in every market whatever goes up comes down because gravity if nth else!!!
all that's irrelevant, i guess! shouldn't this be in altcoin forum?!
