Digital, you mentioned virwox as one of you're btc selling sites of choice. Does it take a while to get usd out of there? I've got a bunch in BTC-E i'm gonna unload when the price recovers and need a better/faster place to dump some coins. Thanks in advance.

Not at all.  But only if you use paypal.

I always use paypal.  Usually it takes a couple hours total.  And that includes confirmations.

Here's the process (it was a little confusing for me at first):

You deposit btc into your virwox wallett, wait for them to confirm
Sell the BTC for SLL
Sell the SLL for USD
Withdraw the USD via paypal.

Sometimes there is a delay before the paypal transaction gets proessed, but I've never had the total process take more than 6 hours.  And it works just as easy in reverse.  In my opinion it's the best way to buy and sell btc via paypal.

EDIT:  Fair warning though, it tends to be a little more pricey than waiting.  But for me it's worth the extra cost for getting my money (or btc) fast.

Awesome!! Thanks for the advice on the steps to process the transaction. The speed i can withdraw my money is worth it to me as well. Looks like a nice alternative to the time intensive process i've been thru with coinbase. Thanks again!

incase people haven't realised it, the easiest way to turn BTCs into US$ is to buy ASICminers and sell them on eBay. heh.

lol i bought 1 in arklan's group buy and its mining away happily right now. Was gonna buy more and sell on ebay, but everyone else has the same idea and the price will adjust itself accordingly i'm guessing.

Checked the Gox graph lately? The last time BTC prices crashed this hard, Dwolla had just gotten snuffed out. Any idea what we're looking at this time? My guess is it has something to do with their policy change about account verification for fiat currency withdraws. Suppose it's going to jump back again? If so, it's a great time to swap your Gox dollars for BTC and sell them elsewhere if you don't just use them up instead. If it stabilizes at around $100, no big deal, still worth it for me. If it keeps dropping... Party's over! Everyone out of the pool. ASIC owners will enjoy their fancy bricks while GPU miners play games at max video settings.

It's really not much to worry about.  If you'd have been watching the price for the last two years you would realize that this is the most stable it has been since it was around $5 / btc.  The price of btc has been super volatile over the last 2-3 years...

Nothing to see here, move along...

Can someone recommend someone trusty who would buy BTC ?

Send it to coinbase. They will buy up to 50 btc a day. Look under account settings/integration for an address to send to.

Are they better at buying your BTC than they are at selling BTC to you, and how long does it take to get USD out?

lol its *slightly faster when you're selling versus when you're buying. It took about 3 days to get my cash in the bank vs 6 1/2 days wait while buying sighhhhh strangely, it was even slower the second and third time i bought btc. Maybe it was the day/time frame or something idk still its the easiest and safest way to get btc (other than mining, of course)  Tongue

If we can bid on it, I would pay 2.3 for that one just to bring back the sunshine and rainbows.  I wish I had ordered a few more and will likely do so when there is another one run by Arklan.

I bid 2.35 for that one then!!! Sunshine and frickin rainbows all around!!  Tongue

A plausible reason for staying home (in addition to car problems) would be to avoid having $100,000 (e-bay prices) worth of gear left on his porch.

actually it'd be closer to $250,000+ ebay prices if they all sell like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/330928861975?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

i find it a bit unsettling that the ebay sellers are using Arklan's photos from this thread, and they all say "IN HAND" ready to ship...

Oaxaca said that was his auction and apologized for using Arklan's photos. He stated he would be taking new pics when his arrived.

I would like to state Arklan has posted updates every step of the way, and if everyone followed the thread like I had, all their answers about this "delay" in shipping would already be answered.

Are there things that could have happened better?  Yes.
Do I think I could have done a better job than Arklan? No.

I am still pleased with Arklan's performance in this group buy.  I have 100% confidence in Arklan at this point.

Agree 100% with this statement!!!!! +1

You're going to need fans blowing on these puppies...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195004.msg2153513#msg2153513

i'm really hoping he meant without the heatsink on, or got the wrong thread entirely and meant the blades...

but hey, if not, no big deal to grab some fans, eh? ...though come to think of it my usual stores for doing so don't exist in this state... hmm.

Small usb powered fans!! Hell, if i don't hear SOME kind of fan going, it just won't feel like real mining!!!  Tongue

I will take 2 pieces from anyone that doesn't want their order. Won't have enough coins until Monday the 20th however.

PM if you want to do a deal Monday. I can send coins and post signed transaction here and with Arklan.

My vote is for faster shipping over testing as well.

+1 Also like the idea that after bulk orders go out, the remaining orders are shipped based on the order the payment was received.

Best news i've heard all day!!! Thanks to you and Arklan for busting your asses getting this done in a very professional manner. Danke!!

I'm trying to integrate bitcoin sales into my business, but find the biggest obstacle is getting the customer to understand how bitcoin works and then somehow finding ways for them to acquire bitcoins in a timely manner. Generating 1000's of addresses for each unique transaction is laughably easy compared to other issues related to accepting btc! Coinbase seems to be the most viable option for me....unless i want to BUY coins lol i think the vendor that can offer a working pre-loaded btc debit card to purchase real items from my store front will make a fortune!

Ur doing it wrong:  you only want one address per transaction.

Quote
...and then somehow finding ways for them to acquire bitcoins in a timely manner.

Why not take two sides of those transactions with your customers, instead of just the usual, single "buy my stuff" side?  Why not offer to sell them bitcoin too?  If they're curious about bitcoin, but they find that acquiring coin is difficult, sell them some coin.  Offer them the best spread available, since you make your real profit off whatever you sell in your store.  There... now wasn't that easy?

Isn't that your job:  to make things easy for your customers and see to it that they get what they want?

Lol i phrased that incorrectly. I generate 1000's of addresses in advance and only use ONE per sale/transaction. I've only found a few customers that are willing and/or able to buy with btc. I generally show them coinbase or mt gox and explain the wait time. I also turn them on to OTC trades, but finding reliable local sellers is tough. So me being a store front AND otc seller would seem to be logical. And i do my job quite well thank you. Sales figures would indicate that  Wink

It happens from time to time, but after few minutes when recalculation kicks off it comes to normal.

I have a suggestion for those who are impatient (and think they are loosing shares) - add startum, stratum2, atratum3 and api to your miner and use 'load balance' as strategy. This way even if there is a problem with one of the hosts and/or shares are lost (though i doubt so - it just takes time for them to appear), then you will still get all shares from the rest of the backends. In case of connection issues with some of them you will still submit shares to the rest.

I've used stratum3 on all my workers since the hack and this is basically the first block with major issues, so i guess i shouldn't complain too much. My rewards are different/lower than before the hack, but still good enough to stay. Thanks for your advice.

i see that i can just print it on regular printer paper. i'll just do that ,then apply to box/envelope and cover in packing tape so it's waterproof.

i figure padded envelopes for overs of 5 or less (each unit in it's own anti-static bag and bubble wrapped) and for bigger orders, boxes with foam inserts to separate the units. i already have a ton of cardboard and foam from other stuff, so it's no big to do that.

You can do that, but they don't want you to tape over the barcodes, and they're a bit of a pain to avoid (I've done it hundreds of times).

Please, please don't use a padded envelope for my shipment.  Use a box with packing material (crumpled newspaper works) surrounding the items.  Understand that the mail gets beat the f up.  You should see what some things look like after they've been through it.  I can imagine anything in a padded envelope getting thoroughly crushed.

I use boxes like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200-6-x-3-x-2-White-Corrugated-Shipping-Mailer-Packing-Box-Boxes-/380554330622
+1 never use padded envelopes for hardware. use small boxes they keep their shape.

i'm gonna need more cardboard... Cheesy

lol wish you were closer!! I have hundreds of small boxes that laptop hard drives were shipped to me in and many more i'll never use but can't seem to throw away!!

I realize the last 40 pages are about screwed up blocks, but i'm showing no reward for block 17960. lol It doesn't say 0.00000000, it says none. Whats weird is i checked it several hours ago and i had shares and a little btc showing there. Miner was running full blast. So idk. For the record, i've been quite content with Slush's pool for a long time. I make 10-20% more than pps most of the time. Thank you carry on
