I've done a GPU rig powered with a HP DPS 1200 FB-A server psu and a pico psu. It was a great setup. You can find a pico psu for better price in Aliexpress, for example.

Edit: This was the one that I bought from Aliexpress https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32828439849.html?spm=a2g0n.orderlist-amp.item.32828439849&aff_trace_key=&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=1141amp-jekuphr4TI0-fX27zpw3aQ1595452733747&browser_id=92c5052f659640e6b7d2cfbd9fab77d4&is_c=Y

That actually looks good but what kind of power source can I use for the Pico PSU?

Using Bitmain PSUs to Power Mining Rigs

Hey guys,

I have a few old miners (D3's, faulty S9's and L3's) and I was looking for a way to utilize some of the leftover hardware. I have looked a bit and I haven't found a practical solution to power up a GPU mining rig using one of the preceding's PSUs. (Available is APW3+ and APW3++)

From what I found, this is the most available option: https://www.parallelminer.com/product/180watt-max-24pin-atx-power-module-included-sata-molex-cpu-power-connectors-ditch-your-atx-power-supply-entirely/#tab-wpc_comment_tab

But it's fairly expensive considering I can buy a 400-500w PSU for that price. Anybody can pitch in a better idea to utilize the otherwise wasted PSUs?

Is here someone who is not using a Bitmain PSU?

I am looking to replace one PSU until I get a new one from Bitmain warranty  Roll Eyes

Any ideas? I have no clues about PSUs other than Bitmains lol

I have rock solid experience with HP server power supplies.

Sidehack has a power supply kit including breakout board and 10x PCI-E power cables for sale for only 80 USD.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=940317.0

See the DPS1200 PSU Kit in that thread.

Antminer L3+ needs roughly 800W power.
This has enough power capacity in both 110-120V (max. 900W) and 220-240V (max. 1200W) mains voltage systems.

I am unsure about this. I tried using an 850 EVGA SUPERNOVA P2 PSU and apparently it does not work. The problem is that PSU only has 4 connectors for PCI which means you get twice as many in 6-pin connectors, leaving you with the need for one additional connector which requires either a Molex to PCIE or CPU (8pin) to PCIE adapter. I tried the first option and it doesn't work as it does not draw sufficent power, I will give the second option a go and see how it works. But consider this a warning if you'll decide and go for an EVGA power supply less than 1000 watts. I am currently running the 1000 watts variant of the same PSU while looking for a solution and it's running like a charm.

Nicehash is a bit confusing and really the earning predictions don't make sense, for example just checked the earning potential now for 1 machine (L3+) and get the following results:

1 Day = 0.01098427 BTC = £22.56
1 Week = 0.09807394 BTC = £201.46
1 Month = 0.60026800 BTC = £1233.05

How does that make sense? assuming the 1 Day earnings are correct then calculations should be:

1 Day = 0.01098427 BTC = £22.56
1 Week = 0.07688989 BTC = £157.92
1 Month = 0.333189523 BTC = £684.32

(BTC value:  1 BTC = £2054.16)

Can anyone actually confirm earnings through Nicehash?

Profitability has DROPPED quite a bit over the last month due to new hashrate comming online, and the shifts in pricing between the various Scrypt coins and BTC and the price of BTC itself.

My A2 farm was pulling in something like $40 a day on Nicehash a month ago, today I'd be lucky to see $25 in a day.

Would Nicehash be a more profitable option than going for a multipool like prohashing, or simply mining litecoin directly? I have little knowledge of Litecoin pools but it seems to me that Nicehash gives a higher return  compared to anything else as of now. Only concern is the marginal reject rate which I don't understand. It's more than 5% for me right now.

OK it doesn't crash anymore but it still shows 0 connections. Tried restarting as well, no difference.

crypto is not for lazy ones Smiley
find some nodes to add to conf file, on cryptopia for example

I love how you represent a very high percentage of the users of this forum. Riding your high horse of knowledge that can be obtained through google.

See, I can research how to solve a problem or recompile the wallet but the fact that I have to is what ticks me. You think a common/inexperienced miner will throw their money at something with 0 development or updates? You keep hoping for 'prime time' yet this seems to be going farther everyday.

My intention isn't to rant, but the fact that latest version was in 2014 only validates what I mentioned above. Needless to say, I have moved on from DGC.

I launched the 3.0 wallet & it gives me a runtime error. I started with a fresh appdata folder & still get the error, anyone else having this issue?

Yes, disable internet during startup.

If you're able to compile, we are testing a fixed wallet.

I'm having the same issue here. The wallet works when I turn off the internet but it doesn't synchronize when I turn it back up. Showing '4 years behind'.

Running windows 10 Pro x64

ban bittrex.com with firewall or hosts file (windows), that will do.
use www.bittrex.com for exchange.
or recompile  Wink

I tried banning through my AV and it doesn't change much.

Recompile, that I don't know how to. I read a little and if the procedure is the same for all altcoins then this is out of my ability. If somebody has a running version somewhere it would be nice to share because right now I cannot access my wallet and I don't think I can send/receive coins otherwise. I read somewhere above that a previous version works on windows 10 (version 1.1 or something similar) but I cannot find it anywhere. If somebody could point me in the right direction that would be great. I am not even sure my wallet data file will work on a previous version, but currently I am desperate for a solution.

perhaps you didn't make it the right way with AV.
if you are on windows - add to hosts file
127.0.0.1  bittrex.com
then flushdns or reboot

This is a good example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo0g2dKPAcQ

It's a good way to improve efficiency but it seems risky for the boards as there's a chance of damaging it. Aside from that, it's quite a nice addition if you don't want to add more miners.

Have you considered using alternative cooling method as opposed to the traditional air cooling? I'm using a storage room in my office for miners but the noise is sometimes unbearable even though we have servers running in the same room with nice temperatures.
