Don't know if anybody has mentioned this new exchange somewhere in the thread before but maybe it's a chance for Gridcoin to hit another exchange?
http://www.allcrypt.com/beta/voting.php
Haven't had much experience with exchanging yet but I think it would definitely not harm Gridcoin to spread to one more exchange, especially since the next currency to be added to the exchange is vote-based with the ability to vote every 24h  Grin I think the Gridcoin community has a fair chance of making it (at least from what I've seen so far Smiley )

There's also one for www.SwissCEX.com as well - I upvoted Gridcoin Smiley

You should take a look at Gridcoin.

The community there is all about what Gridcoin does which is try to offset energy going into mining to also go towards research projects via BOINC. No one there switches back and forth between coins, even before we got into an exchange (and we were only added to one about a week ago).

If you want to learn more you can also visit our temporary forums at Cryptocointalk. Unfortunately it doesn't have all the requirements you need, but there was no pre-mine and it's a coin aiming at a good cause.

Gridcoin - supports research by incorporating BOINC in its rewards system

Nxt - seems like a real winner in terms of functionality

Worldcoin - doing really well plus I love the transaction speed

Feathercoin - great community

Litecoin - the altcoin that started it all

Looks like we need a better block explorer first as there needs to be a real-time "total coins in circulation" that they can pull the data from.

Just giving everyone a heads up that, as of this morning, Gridcoin is finally on its first legitimate working exchange, www.c-cex.com

It has a very a smooth and responsive interface, and from my experience instant deposits, trade executions, and withdrawals. If anyone is interested in buying or selling Gridcoin, feel free to give the exchange a try!

can anyone contact coinmarketcap.com?

board on the train please

nthuse,

I don't think there was ever a cpupoolmining option so taking that shouldn't have done anything. Payments for CPU mining isn't constant so I you only see payments during certain times of the day. So I wouldn't worry about it unless you go 24 hours without getting a payment.

asdlolciterquit,

I think sleep should mean your cgminer is in sleep mode and the beacon only sends once or twice a day IIRC. But yes, if your beacon doesn't send anything for a day then I would assume that you're not getting the cpumining credits.

@ derm and aysyr : thank you for the coins! they seem to have at least partially solved my mining issue. Once I had a positive GRC balance in my wallet several beacons were sent after about 40 mins. I had my gridcoin.conf file including cpupoolmining=true and the client sent out 6 beacons. Is this expected? I received 7 payments over the next 6-7 hours of between 8 to 34 GRC. Does that sound about right?

So then to test solo mining I removed cpupoolmining=true from the conf file and after running for 8 hours I've yet to receive anything. Does having started out cpupool mining prevent me from then solo mining? With the following stats: Boinc proc power: 67, thread count: 2 & Avg Daily Credits: 346, what can I reckon to wait for a payout (roughly)? Or have I missed something again?

AndrewP: it's easy to omit what seems obvious in a tutorial, besides I leaned a lot about the rest of the mechanics of Gridcoin while trying to figure out my specific problem.

Thanks.

Nthuse,

You have to have cpumining=true in your gridcoin.conf at all times in order to get anything for CPU mining. There is no solo/pool mining for CPU (which is what I assume you're doing since you followed AndrewP's tutorial). Solo and pool mining is only if you're mining using cgminer or another "mining" software - otherwise known as mining with your GPU. So go ahead and add cpumining=true again and restart your client Smiley

AFAIK it's only the hashrate that's mining on the actual network (not BOINC). Difficulty's so high now Sad

130M hash rate already. Does this include the processing power from CPU miners? I do not think so or maybe I am wrong.

Btw sent you a few coins as well nthuse, good luck!

To expand on what deerough said:

It seems that sometimes the running processes of BOINC as well as BOINC itself is the root of this issue. So a possible solution before rebooting as well is closing Gridcoin, killing BOINC and all associated processes (including processes spawned by the projects - i.e. vina, wcg, etc), and then restarting BOINC and Gridcoin.

Nthuse,

What version of Gridcoin do you have? You check it by clicking on the tab Help > About Gridcoin and it should be something like v1.1.5.x. I know the earlier version of the CPU mining was having issues sending out beacons. IIRC versions 1.1.5.6 and later should work so maybe/hopefully that's the issue.
