Re: China and the US a la Munger: "Bitcoin is rat poison!"

Bitcoin has become a religion of the repressed masses. It is kinda similar to Christianity. There are the bad guys, there are the poor guys, and there is the promise of a better land. It is a cure for the predatory disease of capitalism that hunts the working class. At least that's how it is being sold to the masses. It's doomed to not fail. It is an idea, something that exist in the mind, and thus it is without any tangible properties that would make it fail. There is plenty of $$$ one can make from this dream, so I recommend you to jump in while you can.

IMO now Bitcoin reverts to its stage preceding the China bubble and then it has to start over from there.

Re: Taking a loan to buy bitcoin

I'm thinking of getting a loan to buy more bitcoin, as I'm guessing we'll reach $10K in a few months it can be a good deal to lend at a bank against 5% anual rate

Did anyone do this before? Would like some experience advice

There have been many people in here asking about the same thing and I think it's a recipe for disaster and would not recommend it. Invest what you can afford to lose, if you become too greedy it could very well come back and bite you in the ass (and karma says it will). You will live in regret for the rest of your life. Don't do it, if bitcoin succeeds a few bitcoins will be enough to buy a house or two.

Let's say someone took a loan of $100k in september and put it into Bitcoin, he would have made about $900k minus interest in just less than 2 months. There's no going wrong here.

If I take a loan now of $100k and put it into Bitcoin, it might be worth 10x in just a few months. Worst case scenario it will bubble to $9k and back to $1k, then I would have only lost the interest on the loan. It's a winner bet to become a millionaire from just one simple move at the moment, with no losing edge in sight.

This dude is the official victim of the bitcoin mania. Thank God the forum is archived. It will be a good basis for studying market delusions.

Re: 927 People Own Half of All Bitcions
by

The masses have always complained about the 'bankers' hoarding unmerited wealth at the cost of the small people. Now, they will have 927 new hot targets of unmatched concentration of riches. And since all of it was made purely by pumping and dumping thin air, the bankers, given bitcoin replaces fiat, will look like innocent children. One can already envisage all the new illuminati stories in the next 100 years to come. And boy, they will be big. All the socialist buzzwords, that bitcoin depends on, like 'people's money', will go astray at the first mass crowd's realization that 0,00001% owns 50% of all the assets.

Re: Will $1000/BTC seem like a bargain price in 2014?

Okay let's consider the following possibility. It appears to me to be an initial mania among the tech early adopters, then a maturity phase, and now entering the blow up mass mania phase. This pace of price appreciation to $10,000 by June 2014, will pull in the masses. It will be all over the news in 2014.

Bear in mind the psychology of the following chart. Movements from $10 to $100 are not as worrisome (envious) to the general population as movements from $100 to $1000 and then from $1000 to $10,000. And that is even not factoring in potential synergistic acceleration I am positing below. It is not that someone couldn't have invested the same amount and made the same 10x gain, rather it is that the market cap relative to the world's net worth is becoming more significant. And people sense this intuitively in the level of nominal price rises and the fact that more noise is made (in the news, word-of-mouth, investment newsletters, etc) with larger market cap invested.

Re: PSA: Bears & Bulls
by

1] PSA: Public Service Announcement: a general message for the public
2] Bull: A person or entity that is buying an asset or contract
3] Bear: A person or entity that has temporarily sold with the intention of buying back said assets or contracts at a lower price.
4] Exiting a market: A person or entity that sells all of their assets or contracts without the intention of re-entering that market.

People who have never held BTC are not bears. They are just intensely regretful. People who have held BTC in the past, and then exited the market are not bears. They are just unfortunate.

Bears sell their BTC because they would like more BTC in the future. They are to be respected. Bulls make money. Bears make money. Pigs get slaughtered.

Stop calling yourselves bears when you are, in fact, a pig.

That's all

I sense an ebook for $9.99 coming.

Yep, it looks familiar. This is the 2011 chart that people were posting when bitcoin fell from 29$ to ~2$.

There are many variations of this particular individual. I think it would be educational to discuss them and find other species of this ''The End Is Nigh'' troll.  Smiley

Amid frenetic bubbles most of the bulls are trolls.
