Yeah, by the time I'd have gotten to it was about the time it should have been delivered. The information I needed to connect the tracking number on the post office receipt to your email address is all at the shop, and I didn't get to the shop until Monday, and it should have arrived Monday or Tuesday.
Well I am out 30 compac sticks. It sucks because if I had that tracking number I would have made sure to be around to receive the package as I was pretty excited about it. Either the package was stolen or USPS delivered it to the wrong site. I talked with USPS and they basically said because there was no insurance or signature required there is nothing they can do. Not going to lie I am pretty upset about this.
Tell them you want to make an official complaint that it was stolen .
It is a matter of principal and that reporting the theft to them and the police whatever police handle the report is what you would like to do.
Go in person be nice be nicer be nicest.
They sticks cost you more then 500 usd. So they have to do the paper work if you insist.
Why bother you would be stunned that being really calm relaxed and super cool to them about making the report often the item turns up.
Insist that you want to know which postman worked that day and what he recalls about the shipment.
When in doubt ask for a complete set of rules and forms to report the theft.
I did make an official complaint with the USPS. I know the lady that delivers packages for USPS to my apartment very well. I order A LOT of packages. She double checked and she was working and delivered the package that day. She even has the GPS tracking on her scanner that shows that she physically was at my door step to deliver the package.
So it is clear that it was stolen. My apartment complex was notified and I filed a report.
Beyond calling the police, which would just result in a police report, there isn't much else I can do.
I am going to be setting up a security camera for my front door, as I get a lot of expensive packages and don't really want to deal with another stolen package.
Honestly it is not sidehack's fault in anyway, and I don't want to come off as implying that. He obviously did nothing wrong here. Even USPS delivered the package, so I can't really fault them. Just some asshole had to come and steal it.
Pretty sad as I had sold my S7 and other gear and was just planning to do small-time mining as my new job takes up most of my free time. Looks like I'll be getting out altogether now.

Got more Compacs going out today. There probably would be more, but I took last weekend off (which was nice; going to work for between 8 and 12 hours a day gets old after 12 straight days) and most of this week was spent catching up on New Product Design. I've got a few prototype PCBs to send off for probably this afternoon, which might turn into something cool.
Coming up in the queue are big orders to restock Bitcoinware and ASICPuppy. The last big order went to HolyBitcoin. So, y'all wondering about where to buy should talk to those guys.
And no, once this batch is done I will not be making more BM1384 Compacs. I'm getting very tired of dealing with those chips. Building a stick with pull chips takes about three times longer than building with new, especially when the chips are pulled from dead boards - which guarantees you that a bunch of them don't work. So, once this 750 batch is done that's the end of the BM1384 Compac.

The orders are going out in the order received regardless of order size correct? Think I remember mine coming in when the sold number was around 300 or so.

Sales for the second run of Compacs is now open. I will be assembling using pulled chips, but every Compac will still have the same testing requirements and warranty. Delivery should start in the middle of February. Total batch size about 750 sticks.

This is taken from the first post, which is continuously updated when more sticks are sold or shipped. I'll have probably at least 90 more going out Friday; the next order after that is 100 so it kinda holds up the line.

Got more sticks hitting the post office. I'll have tracking numbers sometime tomorrow.
Pulled-chip sticks start with serial number 2200. So if you get a stick with serial number less than 2200 (in this batch, 2001-2138) are the last of my new ASICs and 2200 on are the pulled chips.

Don't like Kano, that's fine. Use Bitminter or slush but don't support crap pools like F2, Ant or Eligius that are long term killers of BTC and do more damage then good. Unless you don't care if your coins are worthless.....

What hurts the prices is when 'somebody' rents like 3-4PH and raises up the prices, throws the profitability off for everyone (including themselves) and hoses the pool luck also.
How exactly do you think they're "hosing the pool luck?"Well. Everytime there is a huge rental the pool luck and blocks go down. Not scientific but it is what it is.
My only block on this pool was from a rented miner.

Play it smart and spread out, keep your prices low if you want to have more wiggle room and have higher chance for profit. We don't always have sunny days.
Well hopefully I'm not one of your problem causing renters.
I always try to keep my rentals below 0.0039 had some days had low as 0.0033, swapping rentals between US and Euro rents, now on the sixth day with a pretty constant rent of about 30TH. managed to get the red line on the shift performance graph to 33TH, since I only have 6TH of hardware I would say I am pretty much ramped up, and not just jumping in with a big rent at the first sight of some good luck.
Its working out for me,andit bangs another 30TH onto the total Kano PH,so all is good.
I guess current luck is at .0035, 10% above would be .00385
Our 3 day average is .0050.. so assuming you have been renting at below that you win. The past 3 days rentals have been around .0039/.0040 (sometimes as low as .0035). So kinda hard not to come out on top unless you rent for just an hour or two and it happens during a 300% block.
Just my take on it but: Because one has to start *somewhere* and get the ball rolling. The older chips were on-hand and they have working boards for them. As a bonus they get to test the DC at full load.
Newer more efficient chips/boards are in the pipeline but not on-hand so you either have a DC sitting there empty/partly used or ya plug in what you have right now and upgrade when the new designs get into full production.

Sure, but doing that needs money and the difficulty is raising like crazy. They will never make ROI on the "miners" so that means that they have money to burn just like I said. I understand that they need to get the ball rolling and that they need to test the DC, but if the 3rd party manufacturers can get miners shipped in March then they can get 16nm miners in the DC too. There is simply no time to make ROI on this 28nm miners.
Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
Let's assume they
1) produce a 28nm miner for $0.06/GH
2) operate it at 0.36 J/GH (conservativ guess)
3) while having electricity costs of $0.05/kWh (or less)
they should make $0.03/GH per month at the current difficulty, which means ROI in about 2 months.
There will be probably first miners based on Bitfury's 16nm ASIC in wild and their DC end of March, but I guess the real volume ramp up will happen in April.
So it should be enough time, to make some profit with the new 28nm hardware.
Our total hash power has increased due to our Gldani immersion cooling datacenter getting to full capacity.
Why would you spend money on filling a DC with older gen chips especially when you will receive the newer chips with MUCH better efficiency beats me. You either have money to burn or you will simply build a new DC for the newer chips or you simply pay so little to do this that you can afford to replace everything in 1-2 months. I can understand filling just a part of it for tests, but a whole DC...something doesn't adds up.
So I will order 50Th-100Th the first day the miners are announced, if they arrive to me before April 1 I will pay you 1 BTC but if they do not then you send me 1 BTC.

That was a very bad bet from my point of view. You just made a bet with a manufacturer who can simply get this in time by liaising with a 3rd party who can sell a small number of miners. Maybe the miners will be built by BitFury and just sold by the 3rd party company just to win that bet.
I think I would have put something in there about price... I mean those 50TH could cost 30BTC depending on availability.

i got a few feature requests for your considerations
any chance of including subaccount support like antpool does, i got a few miners groups that mine on different wallets because i share ownership with a few clients, id be nice to have them all under a single CKpool account.
also, a way to track btc earnings would be nice, maybe something like a general "btc earned in the last 24 hours", we like to track our mining by daily earnings here and the shift system makes that kinda difficult.

Not when you're mining at Kano. Hahaha........we got some buffer room. =) Now let's hope for BTC price increase above $450 fast, we will be ok for a little bit longer. Every issues is an opportunity. Panic selling = Plenty of money making opportunities for the buyers.
True. I switched to buying BTC weekly once the price dropped below $400. Hopefully price goes up and I can make money from the price rise and mining. Luckily power for me is very low so I can at least make a bit of profit still, but the miners at my home are off.

Another +25% diff increase is the nail in the coffin for home miners looking to profit (if it isn't completely dead already) without a new ultra efficient cheap home miner coming out on the market within the next 30 days or so (unlikely).

You are mining at antpool - that's your first, biggest mistake ...
1. Use one of the apps/or ZACH's web site
2. It's on the web page ... https://kano.is/
3. It's only PPLNS - no settings
4. CKPool is software - kano.is is a pool - solo.ckpool.org is a pool.
CKPool is the best pool software in performance.
Our pool implementations are also the BEST for bitcoin.
We average the biggest blocks of all pools and the fastest block changes without SPV mining.
We don't SPV mine, since we expect Bitcoin will last a long time, we don't do shit that assumes Bitcoin wont be here tomorrow.

dear kano, except of looking for worker offline status,
if someday you made improvement to the web, antpool web is really usefull for miner management
(so the field worker could identify few miner offline within username, field worker often stupid in tech)
have 1account +FEW username, each username pointing different wallet
meanwhile gonna need to find easy solution and train fieldworker to handle kano.is dashboard
