Designing feedback systems
by

Today I got amazed to see something called "safeorscam", already heard and saw it long time ago, but never came to seriously check it out and not how badly designed that system is!

If you want to design a feedback system that's pretty nice and even great for this community which is bind by trust, however you've to split marketplaces from vendor sites. This is the non-sense of SoS, they go by reviewing everything in a lump sum making more noise than helping anybody. At a marketplace you don't create a single thread saying if the market is legit or not, unless the market owner runs away with everybody's money, because that's stupid. Marketplace owners and operators aren't associates of vendors and all of them that I know of have both legit and scammer users, bitcointalk included under the "Marketplace" forum section.
Vendors and buyers are independent individuals acting on their own, just using a common and third party platform.
So, if you want to do it rightly you've to take some points into account:
- Is the site a shop or a market?
- If it's a shop you can review it alone, it's a single vendor so that's ok.
- If it's a market you've to identify both sellers and markets; it's senseless to create a feedback to "John" without stating the market, as John from ebay isn't the same as John from bitcointalk, the right format would be john@ebay / john@bitcointalk. Also note that the same person may not be able to find the same username available at some other place, but would be nice to have him bringing his FB along, let's say john@ebay has a great FB and wants to bring it here but had to register as john123, so the fb system must have a way to link john@ebay to john123@bitcointalk.

Delete or archive topics

Been checking, thanks to Google, that early BMR topics are still on.
Don't get me wrong, I've a lot of sympathy for Bitcoin, but as you don't want SR or BMR stuff related here, and I respect that, could it be possible for an admin to either delete or archive those topics?

Kind regards,

OK,

I don't know what went with that guy and that other Kimmo Alm, but the guy surely seams traumatized. Either he is stalking that Kimmo or that Kimmo was stalking him, beats me.

Bottom line: Nothing was hacked.

Nice try... but those pwds matches nobody.
So you're the "Kimmo traumatized" guy? Sorry for your trauma but never heard of them, and probably nobody outside Sweden ever did.

Another lame attempt of hacking to register... you would need to do "A LOT" better than that before you manage to get anything.
Also nice try to pretend I store pwds in plain text. Sorry, they're ripemd160 hashed, so other than your own passwords, probably all banned (let me know if I miss to ban some), you can't get any.

Banks do that, yet they don't it random and voluntarily, they've rules. It's not like you've 100 US, they can't figure out where you got it, on your account and they go on report it to IRS.
One thing is to co-op on demand and within the boundaries of law, other to go on secret co-op arrangements with foreigner authorities. Basically a Japanese and a British are just declaring they will rat their transaction log to the American DEA.

Sorry to carry the bad news, but if this news checks out:

http://www.bighaber.com/haber/bitcoin-exchanges-offer-anti--money-laundering-aid-929817.html

Rather start to redesign exchanges, Mt.Gox is pretty much dead. This got to be a hard blow in the trust, the "aid offer" will be taken not only for bust drug dealers but to let the government stuck its nose on all BTC economy, from drugs and guns up to undeclared T-Shirt sales, making bitcoin the unsafer currency around.

tried to register just loads forever and times out.

Guess SR didn't got that one too; that's why they closed registration.
The 502 errors aren't server-load related, but Tor related. They depend on the "road" you took and the nodes along it. If they're fast it will look like you're in the plain open internet, if slow... well... they'll timeout.
Now, you can try to ask Vidalia to look for a new road by pressing "Change Identity" and hope to get one less bumpy than the one you're already.

BlackMarket is receiving more than 1 new registration per minute without any issue.

He changed screen name, unlike username, which you can't change, you can always change your screen name, even if it collides. You can "try to" impersonate anyone on the forum that way, maybe something for the admin to think about.

Been checking your request, to deal 10 BTC with someone with reputation and fell to someone that registered today with 4 posts and 0 rep?!
Sorry that you go scammed, but it's like "you were seeing it coming".

Yeah right... well, I'm off, not up to feed you nor to disclose ANY SUBJECT of my site. That would be "building a raft". I own you no "activity reports", nor anyone else for that matters. Still, as far as I can see people is registering, buying and selling... so the site is fulfilling its whole purpose (go figure!).

I'm just curious on what is for you a "well made frigate"? Design? Unless you really lack sense of what Tor is, design is the last thing to matter there. Unless you want pages so beautiful that takes ages to open.

Publicity? Well, if I don't, then no one will know about it, I'm not looking to make newspaper ads or google adsense (in this case would be google adinsanity) anyway... this here and the link at TorDir are enough.

You're always pushing towards the bad events, thinking like you and the humanity would still believe Earth is flat. As there were risks to cross the ocean, there were risks to go to space, there're ALWAYS risks on practically anything you do...
If you're so afraid of the World, then rather you not even get your feet out of your house.

I'm NOT making believe nothing can happen. I just say you need to take applicable measures to not get busted, not fall into an insane loop of paranoia.

Nesetalis,

You're one of those negative sort of guys... no, it's not that "rather simple". Yes, such would be negative publicity, but is like having people saying that had bough broken stuff out of eBay; you probably get thousands each day and still eBay carries on.

Still, even if they can act as sellers that doesn't add much for feds, unless they want to open the FBI's Smack-Mart.
It's not illegal to buy, it's illegal to sell. What will they do to buyers? Increase their customer portfolio?

Sellers are the ones that need more care about expose their identity, specially in the physical snail mail orders, not buyers.

When silkroad was running openly it was better than this, but this one of the only sites avaiable for regestration, and i think it will do atleast until silkroad is reopened

You guys really don't make it easy... I started to code that site Wednesday night, you expect what? To be as good as SR in 2 days?!

No shit! You think I come to this forum how? Using my home line by surface internet?

As for the feds to know it... well, the only way for them to not know it was if nobody knows also... but then what would be the use?!

For those wanting to test an alternative:
http://5onwnspjvuk7cwvk.onion/

This site is yet in beta stage, I'll create its own topic as soon as it's fully operational.

BTW Golden: I just access anywhere through tor  Wink

well, i just had a look and only one listing. u have to advertise it more... oh crap!

The site opened 2 hours ago and you were already expecting to find it full with listings?  Grin  SR is months old already.
Well... so far the system looks good, already have a lot of registrations and seams to be smooth enough.
Give it some time for sellers to start settle their stalls there.  Smiley
