Ignore this troll (pbremen01) ! He is trying too hard to pretend to be interested in this coin by spreading FUD.

There are a lot of interesting points raised by people here. Especially the last one:
Is a Catalan a demonym  or/and ethnicity or/and nationality (i know that all the previous terms are themselves vaguely determined)? Can it be determined by blood or/and soil ? If so what are the current "rules"?

I mean, as our friend "CataloniaCoin" posed a supposedly "idiot-proof example" (i.e. something that doesn't need a lot of explanation and assumes that all the necessary assumptions, for the analysis of the statement, are common sense), of a Chinese guy in Catalonia, i would like to see a little bit clearer definition of a "Catalan" from the creators of the CataloniaCoin. If that even possible of course.

I completely agree that for now these should be the among the main criterias for selecting an encryption algorithm for a decentralized trustless transaction network. Hopefully the mix-algos, like X11, will remain ASIC and bug free for some time! In addition, if some of the secondary properties(lower temperatures,lower power consumption,longer GPU lifetime etc) are attractive for much broader circle of miners/gamers, then its a BIG plus.

I am just trying to ignite a discussion, nothing more e.g. One interesting property of the X11 algorithm is, that, so far the ratio between the hashing speed of the best CPU and best GPU is close to 3. This adds some interesting dynamics (good and bad i suppose) to the future transactions network, don't you think ?

To the devs: If you guys are interested in making the CATC-algorithm more "environmentally friendly " and dislike the X11 for any reason, there are some interesting mix algorithms out there with similar attributes to X11!

Since we are still at the very beggining, i would like to throw an idea for discussion.
How would people feel if we switch hashing algorithm to something more efficient.Something like X11 or Heavy.

The advantages of doing so would be:
-Very low mining temperatures.That is 20-30C less (my 280x is at mining at 52C) The summer is almost here and the whole southern  Europe is gonna have huge problem mining script based coins. Plus the low temperatures will allow many gamers to jump on the train,    since they will be able to mine without the need of spacing the GPUs, modding the cases e.t.c
- 50 % less power consumption. No need to elaborate ! It says it all. But again from a gamer's perspective again, for example with 2x 280x, this makes a huge difference (250 watt against 500 Watt). (Before you start any financial argument against this please note that there will be a lot of gamers/people that will support the network for ideological reasons).
- Significantly less noise from the GPUs
- Increases the lifetime of the GPUs. Scrypt-N has a bad reputation.
- Much harder ASICs implementations since these are based on mix of encryption algorithms.
- X11 is well established algorithm with custom gravity well, p2pools etc. All the code is available.
- Heavy algorithm has builtin voting mechanism.

The disadvantage would be:
-A lot of additional work.
-Hard fork.
- Heavy algorithm is underdeveloped.

While we should not geographically limit the CATc network, i feel that the summer heat would discourage a lot of southern Europeans to support this coin, especially during the months before the referendum where we gonna need them the most ! Tbh i am not sure that even the northern Europeans are going to be able to mine scrypt-based coins.

This coin will grow and overcome all expectations! Simply because its main purpose is not to replace the EURO but to support the revolutionary struggle of Catalonian people for their independence. Spain and mainly Europe will attempt to apply a huge financial pressure on Catalonia as the days of the referendum approach and at that moment if even 1% of people turn to cryptocurrencies (i am convinced that CataloniaCoin will play major role here) this will shake the foundation of financial slavery imposed by them.

The modern history will show, to those that havent realized it yet, that where the 3rd Reich needed an army to conquer the Europe, the 4th Reich is using the financial weapons like hard currency monetary union (eurozone).

While you are raising a valid point, many people fail to emphasize/focus on the most important aspect of the whole interview thing. That is, that the people behind this coin are willing to go public and defend their idea/creation and NOT hide behind a screen and keyboard.

I will bring you two opposite (sad) examples:

-AphroditeCoin: The "dev" claimed to be a british-cypriot, didnt had a clue about Cyprus (his Cypriot name was spelled/copied wrong) and ofcourse the web page was only in English. There was an article from a journalist who attempted to find him and of course failed.

-Greececoin: The "devs" again who claimed that they are saving the Greece didnt knew a single word in Greek, again the same crap here too

NONE and i repeat NONE ever attempted to appear in public nor were willing to do that. This is true for almost all the cryptocoins especially those related to countries. So imho the guys behind this coin deserve a big BRAVO and THANK YOU for being real!

It seems, based on your previous posts, that you want to help the cryptoscene and Catalonya in general but may i remind to you and everybody else here, that, bashing the guys behind CatalonyaCoin (sometimes for some ridiculous staff like a few miss-pays of 2.5 CATc) is NOT a solution to any of the problems. You seem like a very competent guy/gal with some interesting ideas! So why don't you try to post a few structured suggestions or/and critics here, so we can ALL scratch our heads a little bit on those issues/ideas. Again we have the power to make this project (and i am not speaking strictly about CATc) a success...
For example it would be awesome if you could write a small article in Catalan for the "www.vilaweb.tv" to clarify a few points and to help Catalan people to understand better the cryptocurrencies. Its very probable that Vilaweb would be willing to publish a follow up article for http://www.vilaweb.cat/noticia/4182112/20140330/lauge-bitcoins-nacionals.html on Cataloniacoin/Cryptocurrencies. If you consider yourself a pioneer attempting to promote the cryptocurrency-awareness to the public, consider this: The CataloniaCoin could be the device that provides you/us the access to one of the most powerful forces in the world today,the MEDIA. Which could be a great thing if used wisely... 

To the rest of the whiners here:
This is not some private company that we can demand solutions right here right now. All the things that we want to be done, can be formulated in terms of suggestions, discussed and maybe after all, implemented if the COMMUNITY likes it. And the most important part is, that, the guys behind this coin have tryed to listen and seems are willing to listen to most of the critics/suggestions. Behind every coin the driving force is and will always be the community, and it seems that they have realized that from the day 1.


To the devs:
Please guys use the community. Its OK to not have everything figured out. Post some of your ideas for discussion, ask for help, even maybe ask the community to try to self-organize. It seems that there are some very interesting people hanging in this thread (and i am not refering to the "OMG i didnt got my 2.5 CATc, am gonna leave" people . To those i can only say "good luck somewhere else !").

While i have considered most of the country-coins destined to fail, I truly believe that Catalans have the COLLONS (balls) to make this thing work. And if in the process that will piss some Franco-fans Spaniards, thats a BONUS. Nice and smooth launch guys ! Good luck with your struggle...
