I am reading a lot about bitcoin IRS tax notices telling people to back and resubmit the taxes because they did not fully report income. I just got one and have been pretty compliant to the best of my ability in reporting. Do you guys know anything about Bitcoin with alt coin trading pairs and taxation on any gains with that? My understanding was that before 12/31/2017, if you made money by increasing your bitcoins from trading alt coins that you could try to utliize the "like-kind" clause which does not force you report a tax on that trade.

For example, if I make 3 BTC in profit from trading alt coins against BTC in 2017, then does my BTC profit count as a taxable event if I never cashed out?

Any opinions or thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Let say Person XYZ trades Alt coins to increase the number of BITCOINS. However, Person XYZ does not sell those bitcoins. Are those bitcoins taxable as income for fair market value? Or should the person be taxed after they convert to fiat?

Anyone know how long it takes for a deposit to poloniex to be visible in your account? I copied and pasted the address and the message. And both of my deposits show as confirmed on me end but they have not credited me in my account and its been over 12 hours now.

Huge news!!!!! I can see this project having a market cap of 1 billion in a few years as other top coins will be worth several billions. Chronobank has a niche market and a CEO who has experience in this area. I bought at 0.009 and have averaged down. Investing is always a risky game but keep your eye on the prize and be patient.

A lot of cryptos have taken a dive because BTC is gaining in strength. NEM for example, has dropped in 85% of its value since last May. SC currency has also taken a tumble in BTC/SC trading pair because BTC is gaining strength. It is normal in this market for a -X10 but a x10 is also equally as normal. I was just saying most people here expect easy money and get disgruntled when their investment isn't working out. The biggest concern here is will Chronobank deliver? So far they are on track to deliver and based on progress updates they are working to deliver.


A true scam artist takes the money and runs. We have seen nothing but responses and updates from the team. A dissatisfaction in price and the companies own bad luck does not imply scam. They will work through their problems like delisting and get us back on track.

Too many complainers on this forum. You obviously invested in TIME knowing the risks. You were hoping for fast gains in terms of BTC value, but you never saw that so you are upset about your investment. You were hoping this would be a 10x overnight. Most small cap ICO's right now are taking a big hit because BTC is getting stronger every day. Its not the ICO's fault, its the market. Judging by the developments so far, this team is working on this project and is motivated to deliver. Serge has experience in this area and runs a big company that deals with this. This is probably one of the most organized ICO's compared to others. One of the reasons why I invested is because they have a good shot at getting a real world practical application of their platform over other hyped coins. Look at the crypto market and ask yourself how many other coins are doing the same thing. This is a NICHE market with a CEO who has experience in it. Judging by the progress, they WILL finish the project. If we can secure a partnership to use this platform, then this coin will take off.

Will they try to compete with storage solutions already in place like STORJ and SIACOIN?

If I am reading their site correctly, do users lend out their hard drive on the SHIFT network so that people can host their websites on another person's hard drive?

I have the private key, do I use the chronomint application to sweep my private key to move these coins to hot wallet where I can have direct access to these coins?

I downloaded the app and sent my coins to the address but I noticed this app is syncing, which can take a long time. So I tried to put myself in a casual user's perspective. Does the person trying to rent space have to also wait for the program to finish synching? And if yes, then I wish they had a way around this so that those people don't have to wait around for the sync to complete.
