Re: panic or to be calm

I think there are enough people that strongly believe Bitcoin and a few others are worth investing in.  So the price will eventually stabilize and then go back up if this is true.  If too many lose trust then it could continue to go down.  We have to have enough buyers to make it go up.  Personally I am holding long term and think the markets will go up soon. (In the next couple of months.)

RELAX, don't watch the markets every second.  Check it once or twice a day.

Re: can bitcoin reach 25k$
by

Of course it can reach 25k.  It's all about demand, how many people are willing to put there hard earned fiat to buy BTC on the risk of the up and downs.
There are more and more people believing in the blockchain working and thriving.  Will it? Who knows?  I believe it eventually will.  Hodl and wait is all you can do.

Re: Is Bitcoin the best Long-term Hold?
by

I think BTC will be fine long term and will go up but LTC has more potential for growth.  LTC is just as easy to buy with fiat, much faster transactions, much lower fees, and is introducing a real world payment system with credit card transactions with lower fees.

I use a ledger nano s.  To reset, enter the wrong passcode 3 times and it will reset.  You then have it create a new account.  Pretty easy.  I bought mine new but reset it just to make sure there was no tampering.   My ledger had me write the code down.  Not sure about the scratch off sheet you have??

Litecoin is undervalued.  Even more so now that it is introducing the Litecoin pay which will be enticing to merchants.  Merchants won't have to worry about exchange fees and exchange rates as it states they will be paid in Fiat.  Also will be accepted anywhere Visa is accepted.

Re: Why are people on forums so mean and harsh?
by
baileym
on 11/02/2018, 05:50:32 UTC
Most of the harsh treatment I've seen is when a member calls out a scam.  Usually the scam involves a newbie with activity between 0-4.  They are called out on the scam and they get pretty irate.  Hopefully this gets them out of the forum as we definitely don't need these people around.

I have seen as stated above people getting mad about the same question asked over and over.  Try a search for your question first.  Spend 10 minutes at least to see if the answer is already in a post.  Of course there are always those who just can't hold their temper or just had a bad week and taking it out on whoever annoys them first.

I understand the Members who are annoyed by seeing the same post for millionth time.  It's already getting old for me and I haven't been on here very long.  Let us lower ranking members answer.  Find an answer that is good, then give them a merit or two.  You don't have to answer the same question again, give credit to the post, and help someone level up.

Definitely the time to buy when it is low.  Litecoin has a lot of room to grow.  Good luck on your trading investments.

Re: Bitcoin $ 100,000 will be in 2018?

$100,000 by the end of the year?

I think it could reach this level but probably not that quickly.  If it was the only crypto I would say there is more of a chance but there's a lot of competition out there trying to improve on the system.  We also have to wait for people to gain more trust in the system for it to become a more widely used payment system.  I think this will take more than a year.

Re: Merit system is not working, failed!
by
baileym
on 04/02/2018, 02:49:38 UTC
It's only weeks old.  Give the system time to develop.  Sure it takes some time to get merit but you don't need any until you get to member and then it only takes 10 merit.  Takes at least 2 months to get to member status.  Make some decent posts that are related to the topic and you will probably get enough merit by then.  Sure it's not perfect but if someone is writing crap they definitely won't get merit... which is why the merit points were created.  Seems like a decent system to me.

The part that doesn't make much sense to me is the merits can go to legendary members who don't need the merit.  Sure they are the most deserving on a lot of there quality posts but they don't need them for anything other than it shows they write quality posts....  but the merits are then halved and so half of those merits given are wasted.  Seems like any merit given to a legendary member should stay whole.  A legendary member that gets 1 merit should then get 1 sMerit to send.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0;topicseen

In this post Theymos received hundreds of merit on writing the merit system.  Sure they did a great job and put a lot of time and thought into it, and people agree with the system so gave merit but ... Why does an administrator need merit??

I don't think it is any different.  It increased in large amounts so now has a correction in large amounts.   When everyone sees it stabilize and come back up some there will be more trust.  People will start buying again.

All crypto currencies have lost popularity, thus the price crash.  They are not dead.  They just became too popular too fast and everyone rushed to get them.  It may have lost its luster of get rich quick but is still a viable and the best way so far to transfer money.

This forum has the most up to date information in it.  You just have to search through the posts to find the reliable ones.  There is more knowledge here than you will find anywhere else.

Re: Merit & new rank requirements
by
baileym

What if we ignored the activity level and used the merit alone for ranking purposes?

Give everyone merit equal to their current activity.  Which solves the problem of those who were close to ranking up.
Posting would not be done just to meet minimum requirements to rank up.  Which would cut down on the crap or unnecessary posts.

Thoughts?

I guess it is not a good idea. Because merits can be obtained spontaneously if people decide to spam their merits on you, and in a day you will be a legendary member if that happens. If your idea is to be applied, it could destroy rank system if that happens.

I guess, If you re a person worthy of higher ranks, I guess you will and can make a great post, then will get merits. When you have enough merits, it is just matter of time for your activity to catch up to the upper rank requirement, and it is worth the wait.

True.  The time factor is connected to the activity which needs to stay.  Guess I didn't think it through far enough.
