How does NEM compare to Ethereum?  Smiley  Huh

At this point it's apples and oranges i think.

It would be nice if someone could do a comparison in simple terms for the average joe.

Both claim to be 'platforms' that can build anything ontop of their blockchains, other than that, I don't know the dirty details.

These cover only the basics. As someone else mentioned, our delegated harvesting feature and multi-tier architecture is missing.

It'd be nice to see a comparison of NEM features and the hyped up BTS 2.0 about to be released ...

These may need updating.

The issue as I have now come to understand it is simply a doubling of the total amount.  The percentage of each stake remains unchanged (I.e. 1MM NEM is now 2MM NEM).

The genesis of this change being the apparent Chinese superstition regarding the number "4".

The genesis of the change may have been an apparent Chinese superstition. But then some attempted rationale was put forth to increase its number regardless. Hence the figure of 8 Billion came about although a larger number is still something that can be pondered and weighed upon.

It was 4 billion that was picked out the air. After discussion by Nemsters on the Forum the number 8 billion came up for a variety of reasons and was decidedly liked by most over the original 4 B.

Do we want to cater for the Asians? Any Asian new to the movement would probably pick 8 billion rather than 4
Also I agree that when NEM becomes popular, do we want to talk about decimal points like BtC....I find it confusing when something is worth 0.00065 of a btc for example. Perhaps 80 billion would bring pricing amounts up to closer to what we are all familiar with.

What is the point for such a big change at this point? People who have bought their stakes in AE will get confused and the same effect go along with those who does not visit this topic regulary. Given the point that devaluation of NEM could seriously harm the price, IMO Just burn one NEM.

That is just a terrible choice from marketing- and economics perspective.

Don't understand what you mean by confused. If they are ever confused, they will more than likely think it is our mistake and getting 2 times the amount may well turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

"Terrible choice from marketing and economics perspective" You may want to elaborate instead of making a statement?

Exactly. If you had made it 2 billion, there would be an outcry from people who didnt know about the change. With 8 billion they will receive double and be trilled

Is the 4 billion now being changed?

This 4" x 6" microcomputer is the Microsoft version of a Raspberry Pi. It has a lot more performance and can run Android or Windows 8.1.
It can be used for running the NEM client or harvesting.

https://msdn.microsoft.com/dn770216.Sharks-Windows-Start-Screen-484%28en-us,MSDN.10%29.jpg

4-Core Intel Atom CPU, 1.33GHz up to 1.88GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of on-board storage.

$299 is a bit expensive for the hardware but it includes a Windows 8.1 image.

Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Logo Voting Has Begun[Updates & Discussion]
by

Hey guys.

Did you recently checked coinmarketcap?

I checked it this morning and saw NEM falling to 900 USD per stake.

Do you think, there is someone who wants to bring down the price in an artificial way?

I can't see the aim of this behavior.

Maybe is it someone who wants to harm NEM or is there something I missed?

Whats your opinion about it?

My opinion is coins have exploded onto the scene. We are seeing literally scam coins being developed on a daily basis, and new "game changing coins" nearly as often. And yet here we have a coin making promises but technically doesn't even exist yet. Now the release date is getting pushed back by a couple of months and people are just throwing their hands up. I can;t say so much as I blame them. AT this point there are 20 other coins offering the same thing as this coin that are rising in value NOW. So Why not sell your stake or not buy one and move into something that is tangible.

Meanwhile people here are still arguing over the logo. Cheesy

Noone pushed back the release. August was spread by some people but those were guesses.
Point me to any other project the promises THE SAME things. Not similar but the same.

Development needs to speed up - no argueing there. It's been difficult lately.

On the other hand poloniex confirmed that they're going to add NEM at launch so that's cool  Wink

Oh wow. That´s awesome

That is good news. I have had no problems with Poloniex. Are there other exchanges that have confirmed?

No worries here about the future of NEM, our network is decentralized and we are decentralized.
A movement is not one person, the stable value of NEMstake is proof.

I almost had a heart attack!!! a few minutes ago I logged in to my next wallet using the security phrase and by my surprise I did have a different ID code and my next and nem stake was not there, it was like a new account and I said....WHERE IS MY PRECIOUS NEM STAKE??? I was panicking not knowing what to do, I said this is a nightmare! I decided to log out and log in using the same security phrase again and this time thanks to GOD the right ID code and my Precious Stake was there!!! did someone experience this?

Use KeePass password manager it works great. It's free and open source. http://keepass.info

Two tips:

To be secured against keyloggers, enable the "Two-channel auto-type obfuscation" checkbox. http://keepass.info/help/v2/autotype_obfuscation.html

When generating a password, enable the "Collect additional entropy" checkbox.

This is for all you harvesters.

The Banana Pi is a new clone of the Raspberry Pi. A 1GHz A20 ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core processor and 1GB of DDR3 SDRAM give it a bit more performance.

Jean-Luc, one of core Nxt developers:
"NEM and NXTL are trying to innovate and improve on the ideas brought by Nxt, they are apparently re-writing and re-designing everything from the ground up, and will be a healthy competition to Nxt. So they have my respect."

May I ask what your "business idea" is ?

I am still developing my ideas, so it would be unwise to try and describe my embryonic concepts now and risk being misinterpreted.

I would say that to me POS coins on a crypto 2 platform like NXT & NEM resemble virtual real estate, but unlike physical real estate, POS 'real estate' on a crypto 2 network can move around.

For some ideas you need a lot of 'real estate'. A block of flats, a shopping mall, a hotel, a fun park, a casino etc

Imagine if virtual real estate could relocate to anywhere on the network at zero cost in an instant.

6-10% of a POS coin is enough 'real estate' to create many 'things' that can't be created with 0.0003%

I know I have not explained anything, but it is some thoughts.

UtopianNow, if you are not a troll and are serious about acquiring a large quantity of NEM, then I suggest you follow what Graviton did with DGEX.

step 1. Create your IPO.
step 2. There is no step 2, it's that simple.

If the NEM stakeholders read your prospectus and think your plan is so great, they will buy up all the shares.
