Why are threads created separately?
It's better if you combine it with bounty threads, so participants will not be confused.

Hey there kapalmabur,

Yea that would be better. I tried this initially but ran into character limits for the post. This was the workaround to make sure we provided all the details for the bounty program. Apologies in advance for any confusion.

Best wishes,
Emmanuel

^ Yup.  This is the real deal indeed.

Just curious as my team is working on project in the blockchain space, what was the most compelling part of the Z Cash paper for you?

This is the reason why altcoins and bitcoins is down you can check here: http://www.coindesk.com/sea-red-top-10-cryptocurrencies-see-steep-declines-market-turns/ . This is the good time to buy altcoins and bitcoins at lower price

Interesting. This article says that it's due to a market correction and may be only the beginning. Looks like there is a deficit in the current value of cryptocurrencies vs. trader confidence.

When US senate issues heavy financial sanctions on some countries simply because they feel like it and just feel good to be a bully and all other countries obey out of fear, bitcoin and blockchain says I don't care Mr, Trump I'm not afraid of you and your billions of dollars.
Where ever banks and their partners could dictate their terms you could slap them in the face by adopting and using bitcoin as a currency.

It will be interesting to see how governments around the world respond as blockchain and bitcoin have more high profile use cases. It was promising to see an example of a state recognizing digital currencies in the case where the South Korean government decided to auction off seized bitcoins.

One of the uses I'm more excited about is P2P trading and P2P payments.

Nothing can beat blockchain and cryptocurrencies from that perspective.

What do you see as the major advantages of cryptocurrencies for P2P trade and payments?

You have to think of the blockchain in this instance like an easy way of verifying ownership and events that happen.  That's what results in the best use cases.

Thanks for sharing! Cheesy That's an interesting perspective. The ability for the network itself to be used as an arbiter is game changer in terms of trade in an increasingly more connected global community.

What's preventing Bitcoins from being accepted as mainstream payment forms? I'm working on a new blockchain and would like to learn what drawbacks of Bitcoin urgently need to be improved Wink

Some real and/or imagined roadblocks to adoption:
  • bitcoin (and the notion of crypto currencies in general) is unfamiliar to many (see Technology Adoption Life Cycle)
  • the bitcoin price is volatile
  • government requirements are not clear
  • user is responsible for knowing how to secure their wallet
  • reports of scams
  • commercial services and products using bitcoin are still in early stages

Open-sourced democratic governance and improved voting systems. Read this, for example.

I'm really excited for this use case. Thanks for sharing!

haha! Nice chart!  Cheesy  Grin The only problem with the chart is that you can only label it in retrospect.

Distributed ledgers that can be verified by mutually distrusting parties are one of those broadly applicable solutions that one can envision having a significant positive impact in many unexpected areas.

What areas of society (e.g., services or social institutions) do you predict blockchains will have a significant impact on?

Re: Anonymous Biometrics for Crypto users..

Do you think it is possible to create some sort of Anonymous identity card for serious Cryptocurrency user on the Blockchain.

Here is how i think it should be done:
You create a Blockchain Application/program that can verify any valuable asset on the Blockchain and link it to owner's Virtual ID Card WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST POSSIBILITY of knowing who the owner is . The asset can be anything from Anonymous Websites,  Cryptocurrencies(ones with good anonymity), softwares, Virtual gold etc assets without great anonymity will not be accepted. It should be completely anonymous, transparent & legal assets(Guess illegal assets would be ones that violate or could violate people's fundamental rights) .
The asset will be linked to the owners Virtual identify CARD which can be used as trust, collateral or verification purposes anywhere on the Blockchain. The I'd card will be 100% hack proof, very anonymous with great privacy. The ID card would be great on Ethereum network.

There are requirements here that would entail some measure of trade-off. For example, you would need some form of identity although you could get by with a pseudonymous identifier for most tasks.

Let say I employ an Artist on BitcoinTalk to create some drawings for me with the promise that he gets paid after the job is done . He checks and verifies my identity card..we quickly enter into a Smart Contract agreement to pay him on a specific date or once the job is done and failing to do so will automatically lead to the transfer of some of my assets to him — the assets would be worth the price of the artist's service.

The Anonymous ID Card idea could help pretect people from the hugh number of scammers on cryptocurrency. Could also help compliment Escrow service.

The example you gave with an artist commissioned to do design work is difficult more so because either party's definition of "done" could be in disagreement. So you would have to consider what courses of action are reasonable in case either party is unsatisfied with a completed service (which would depend very much on the use case.) However, there should be no problem enforcing the prior agreements defined in a Smart Contract.

What really matters is that the South Korean government has recognised that it can be used by legitimate civilians rather than just criminals by selling to what they hope are legitimate civilians.

Very interesting. I wonder if we see this continue as a trend in other governments (auctioning crypto currencies for fiat currency)? Or maybe even the reverse.

Maybe read the article below to understand eth better (and avoid a big surprise when its huge and insane ICOs bubble pops)
https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/i-was-wrong-about-ethereum-804c9a906d36

Good read from @WhalePanda. I'm not sure I agree with all of the arguments but the conclusions are full of pragmatic sense. In particular, the conclusion that the sustained success of ICOs depends very much on how responsibly developers handle fundraising and the recommendation to consider directly working with high-net worth crypto investors as an alternative to tokensales.
