It's profitable with POS coins such as PIVX, DASH etc. by running a Masternode but you'll have to invest in buying coins first, simply running a node without doing anything won't do you anything.
i see....how many coins would be needed to be invested in?

Is running a node profitable?

It need not necessarily be a BTC node. It could be EOS for example. Is it profitable? How do the node owners make money?
and lastly, i need the client for running ETH node. can you guys help? sorry to bug you too much
but the project involves running these 3 clients and loading the data into a DB. but by the looks of it , it seems a lost cause, considering the volume !
But yeah, if you're going to parse the full BTC, BCH and ETH blockchain and insert the data into a relational database, you'll need loads and loads of processing power and fast storage (and a lot of it).
thanks a lot again !
i am planning to use AWS and i guess it will give me the required processing power but it is going to be very costly i guess !

I have never run a BCH node on any of my machines, but if i'm not mistaking, bitcoin-abc is the reference client for bitcoin cash. I think this is the github repo: https://github.com/Bitcoin-ABC/bitcoin-abc
Yes, it is. Here you can find the latest compiled version for Linux, OSX and Windows.
Hi, I am looking to set up a main BTC node and loading the data into a DB. i downloaded the node software from BTC core and have proceeded with sync..Now i have a set of files but they dont seem to be in a readable format. How do i load them into a DB? Is there a schema? I tried searching the internet but i am unable to find it. Or am i missing something?
There are several options, the easyest one is searching for an existing block parser in a language you understand, and adapting it in order to insert all data into a relational database. Do expect this to be a very time and resource consuming process... You'll need hundreds of gigabytes of diskspace, and if you mess up your relational database, inserting, deleting, updating or selecting records will be painstakingly slow.
Great! Thanks a lot. But is there a schema or something for the data? I want to load the data using java. so if i have the data structure for the data, i will probably able to write it myself?
No, there's no schema, it's not a relational database.

Cheaper Card for ZCash?

Hi, I have a GTX1070 and mine hush and ZCash using it. Is there a cheaper card with a comparable hash rate?
In practice this one wants more core clock then memory. Thus your goal should be to maximize core overclock.
You need to decide how much power do you wanna use via TDP%. Some will go for 100% higher sols but also higher power consumption. Some will stay at 70-80% with lower power consumption.
Good starting point would be https://whattomine.com/coins/166-zec-equihash where you just insert your sols, watts and electricity cost and you get calculated expected profit. This way you will see what is the optimum Watts and sols for you.
Hi, Thanks for the guidance. I am currently mining hush..but i do understand your point and with both ZEC and hush using the same algos, i think they should act similar.

Thanks a lot to all you guys. have been most helpful
it depends on what miner you are using, that you may adjust its intensities, however, for Most Nvidia, just play around with Overclocking and underclocking using MSI afterburner.
Thanks for the reply. I am using the EWBF miner. I havent done any overclocking or underclocking as yet. Should i do it? If yes, can you point me to some tutorials on how it is done?
Thanks.

Hi, I am new to mining and have a GTX 1070. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to improve its hash rate? Not that it is bad right now but of course, if i could make it better and more consistent, it would be useful. Please do let me know.
