Re: Recovery program beginning in January for PB Mining customers.

How old are the people that keep accusing PBMining of being a scam? I assume you were publicly educated since you seem to have no understanding of innocence until proof of guilt.

I will agree that things look bad. And I lean toward believing that we won't be getting paid what our contracts promise, or even significant compensation.

That said, I have some experience. I've been "scammed," and I have been in situations like this, that looked like it was a scam but then worked out. In fact it just happened recently when a guy on BTCJam borrowed 50 BTC and then after making his first payment we didn't here from him until he was a few days past due on his second payment. A friend of his got on and said he'd been in an accident and several people started screaming "scammer!" These people had all the same crap to say that the accusers here have to say. Guess what. They were completely wrong. The guy payed back the full loan, with interest a day or two later.

Many of you argue "if they would just communicate better we would believe them." But that is complete bullshit. You would pick apart any information given and find the way they could still be scamming. I'm not saying the lack of communication is the right thing to do, just that I understand why they aren't answering your every fucked up accusatory question. Especially if they really are dealing a life threatening situation.

The fact that there was a payout today gives me a little hope that we may see a "recovery." But I'm an optimist. Note that PBMining has over 10,000 customers (going by the customer numbers) so $200,000 would only be a small payout to all of those. $200,000 / 10,000 = $20 average payout. I got roughly $7, but I'm not a huge customer.

I was paid today. About 4.5% of what I should have gotten.

I realize a lot of people are mad about loosing money, as they should be. But the way people act on here does not give me much hope for the future of humanity. I like to think that Bitcoiners are better than the average person, but a lot of you are just fucking dicks!

Re: Can someone tell me which QR code software to use?

You can use bitaddress.org. After waving your mouse wildly for some randomness, head to the "wallet info" tab and enter the private key (which is processed by javascript and is not sent anywhere). You will then get some QR codes. Repeat for each key.

You can put the bitaddress.org address generator on a USB drive and boot into a live Linux CD with your internet disconnected and you are very safe. Assuming no one is looking in your windows.

It sounds somewhat interesting and cool to do, but I don't think it really solves any problems that can't be solved more easily.

Fiat can be exchanged just about anywhere in person to person transactions. How is this South Pole Exchange going to get a hold of fiat? Boat it down there? If banks don't want to deal with crypto you won't be able to do it electronically.

Possible? Maybe like the sun going supernova in our lifetime.

The minors haven't rejected updates because there hasn't been a significant enough reason to.

Maybe if it were a much smaller amount, like 0.001% you might sneak it in before it was noticed and it might take a few days to fix the code, but 25%. No way.

Perhaps someone with more insight on these matters can provide a quality analysis.

Seems legit.

There is also https://btcjam.com/. You have more old school trust here because the borrowers are vetted and confirmed to an extent. I've been considering putting a little money here. Also nice because you can help bitcoin businesses with your loan.

Still should be very cautious though. Start small and see how it works.

I like using the term fiat. Because people don't know what it means I get an opportunity to explain it. It makes them think about it instead just automatically converting and thinking "those things in my pocket I use every day. Real money."

You say you're looking for "income."

If you are talking about the kind of income that you can pay your bills with DO NOT invest in any bitcoin venture.

Investing in bitcoin is a great idea in my opinion, but not as an income to pay your bills. Bitcoin might be worth $200 next week. Just don't do it.

If you really want to make bitcoin, sell your stuff on https://cryptothrift.com/ or https://bitshack.co.uk/. Write a book and sell it for bitcoin, etc.

Re: Electricity Cost
by

The electricity cost is what you are paining in euro's or dollars to whatever company you get your electricity from.
The network fee is the fee you pay when you send a transaction to someone.

You only pay the first thing with mining.

I don't agree. There are a lot of little extra charges and taxes on my bill. Plus even if those charges don't fluctuate with how much you use, they still have to be paid.

Here is what I do. These are actual numbers from my last bill.

106.57 US dollars for the month

divided by 913 kWh

equals 0.116725 US dollars per kWh

Re: Very severe blow to bitcoin

Andreas Antonop's tweet is the worst news yet that I've heard for bitcoin.

Looks like Andreas is done with the Bitcoin Foundation. Good. Screw the Bitcoin Foundation.

"I can no longer have even the smallest association with the Bitcoin Foundation, because of the complete lack of transparency" https://twitter.com/aantonop/status/486926129409052672

The Bitcoin foundation has gained Pierce and lost Antonopolos.  This isn't going in the right direction at all.

Title is wrong it should be "Very severe blow to the bitcoin foundation, Bitcoin unaffected"

Yeah, headline way off.

People who don't know of Andreas (most of them) won't care and the foundation will go on and hopefully do some good despite their "issues."

And the people who do know of Andreas mostly dislike how the foundation is being run already. Plus he's said he didn't want anything to do with them in the past.

It's good click-bate, but lame analysis. I mean ALL analysts are making things up, but at least it looks like they did some real maths to come up with the numbers they publish.

Just how much control over Bitcoin to you people want to give away?

Want to explain what you're asking?

I thought all my suggestions were helping keep Bitcoin free from control, and was hoping to hear other ideas, but I need a little more to chew on than a vague question.

"I am a Graduated Science Engineer major with a 3.84GPA from Atlantic City, NJ, USA. "

Scam...a person with the credentials offered would have not made this egregious grammar mistake

Yeah.  That's true.  I'm wondering when the improvment in ASICS will stop.

Uh, never.

Unless bitcoin and all other SHA-256 coins go bust. I'm guessing you don't want that.

But what's going to get better?  Optimization I guess.  Probably not nm.

Okay folks, a little computer history for you.

In 1990 the fastest consumer level computer you could get was a Mac II fx at 40MHz with 4 MB, expandable to 128 MB. That was 24 years ago.

How long have SHA-256 ASICs been around? 2 years?
