Constant Downward Pressure Due To Miners?
by
bene
on 26/06/2014, 06:28:56 UTC
Looking at a 1 yr chart you will notice that Bitcoin constantly get's beaten down since December 2013.
For your convenience: http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#rg360ztgSzm1g10zm2g25zv

The November 2013 rise to $1,200 also caused an immense rise in hashing power and difficulty (because mining suddenly was so profitable).
So this correlates.

There is no free lunch, somebody has to pay the immense mining network (electricity, hardware, etc).
It looks like the Bitcoin holders do, because I'm sure that miners have to sell a large portion of mined coins on a daily basis just to cover electricity.
And that's exactly what the charts are reflecting.

Looking at it this way, the downtrend will only accelerate as difficulty rises?

If the regulation of Bitcoin concerns you, please sign this letter to regulator Ben Lawsky

isnt the whole point of AIDS, to be spread? but do we want to do this, no as it is not good for society.
bitcoin is not just about spreading it around, its about giving people the informed choice and allowing merchants to choose what is best by informing them of all the information.

i feel there has been too much spreading bitcoin ignorantly, which leads the ill informed to get involved with something that they dont understand enough to utilise fully. hense they panic at the smallest piece of propaganda and run like hell.

You didn't do more classes in school than a train has, did you?

if you were right, uninformed users is still better than no users.
the point is, there is no proof that it's uninformed users who are dumping BTC what is causing the price drop. that's just an assumption based on your ignorance.

BITCOIN FORUM PROBLEMS -- PLEASE HELP
by

Why the hell can't I write PMs or use the search?

When I write a PM I get the error "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later."
Of course, the error is BS, as I didn't send any PMs at all.

I'm really frustrated as I need to reach a Bitcoin Forum member urgently, how can I fix this?

By the way this is really user-unfriendly, if I'm blocked from sending PMs then please at least tell me so BEFORE I type my message...!!!

How can I reach Friecat/Asicminer?
by

Some time ago I bought 7 ASICMINER-PT Shares on BTCT.co (quite costly back then between 2BTC and 4BTC per share).
After BTCT closed down afaik I received "direct" shares with Asicminer.
I'm still getting paid a dividend, but judging by it I only get the dividend for 1 share not for 7 shares.

BTCT told me "Friedcat had a bug in his initial script that would only import shares to a given BTC address once, even if that address was in my CSV multiple times."
So that would explain it..

I really don't like to open a thread about this and I don't mean to put pressure on Fridcat/Asicminer by that, it's just that I really can't reach him on his email that I got from BTCT and I get a stupid error message when trying to send a PM on here..

Thank you!

ASICMINER SHARES, LOST?
by
bene
on 26/11/2013, 10:34:50 UTC
So, I had around 40BTC worth of stocks at BTCT.co a few months ago.
Unfortunately I was very absent and didn't follow bitcoin and especially not the bitcoin stock market.

I recall there were TAT-ASICMINER and ASICMINER-PT kind of shares.
One of those was rather cheap, and the other one was rather expensive (ranging from 1 to 4 BTC per share).
I had some of both, but rather the expensive shares.

Now, suddenly BTCT closed, but what happened to my shares?
I have received some emails from ceo@btct.co and apparently I'm "all set" but it has been like that for weeks/months.

Is ASICMINER still existing nowadays? Are they still doing fine?
https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM100
I found this link, which says ฿0.00379330 per share. But is this the "cheap" or "expensive" share?
If my ฿4 shares have become ฿0.00379330, then it doesn't matter anyway I guess :p

And yes, it could be $25k, $50k, if I had just kept the BTC but I was too greedy and went into stocks. Lesson learned Smiley

What do you guys think is the best way to profit from Bitcoin mining:

a) to order/pre-order ASIC hardware
b) to invest in mining stocks
c) Huh

FYI, I'm considering to invest mid-5 figures! (USD)
