Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin?

I'm wondering what's stopping people from using bitcoin?

And now I'm talking about people who already aware of bitcoin and how it works but still not using it.

There can be many reasons for that. For example, Bitcoin can be simply illegal in some countries. Or there can be no suitable infrastructure for using BTC

As Bitcoin becomes more and more popular, we should get used to news like that.
Human nature can be really disgusting sometimes, and Bitcoin is not to blame when incidents like that happen.

2022 is only 6 years from now.

I don't think any radical changes can happen in such short period of time.

1. Launch a balloon with your own camera attached to it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAifzh7_-cg

2. Sail around the world on your own.

3. Become an astronaut.

Or simply buy yourself an airline ticket. And when the aircraft gain altitude of 10-11 km, look out the window. You'll see the curve proving that Earth is spherichal.

You mean like here: Airplanes magically following the curvature of the ball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny8-Q9QDpmg&nohtml5=False

or A380 USA LAX to Germany 5,800 mile trip NO CURVATURE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB5YwfUcdWI&nohtml5=False

globe indoctrination 1935 - 1968  as a bonus evidence for flat earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqfCxSCkI1A   Cool

Hmm, how strange - in the first two videos the horizon and the ground below are covered with clouds - entirely or partly.
To see 'the curvature', one must look exactly at the ground below.

I wish I could share photos I once took from the airplane window. The sky was clear and I swear, there was a curve!  Grin

Re: How to teach kids about Bitcoin?
by
benjidaimio
on 13/06/2016, 08:26:10 UTC
I don't think kids can't grasp basic concepts to understand Bitcoin such as decentralization and a open sourced nature, no to mention p2p protocol.. etc. They can grasp the idea of money itself as a means to get stuff, but beyond that is too difficult to explain. They wouldn't get it, just like they wouldn't get how fractional reserve works, etc.

Depends on how do you present this information to a kid. You can leave out all unnecessary and complicated details; it's enough for a child to know just a very basis.
If the kid is able to understand that fiat currencies are established and controlled by governments as the main store of value, then it'll be easy for him (or her) to understand the fact that some people decided to create their own money, indepented from governments, and empowered them with value too.

I can't decide between 10-20 and 20-30.
Both of these versions seem to be quite realistic.

In addition, it falls within 4 out of 7 deadly sins.

is bitcoin more popular than US Dollar ?

No, of course it's not. While there's 500k-1mn Bitcoin users worldwide, the US dollar is used as the standard unit of currency in international markets.

Re: Where did you first heard about Bitcoins?

I guess it happened 2 or 3 years ago. My friend told me about Bitcoin, and back then, I broke my brain trying to grasp the whole concept of cryptocurrency.
I started to read and learn more about it. Eventually, I understood what a great thing cryptocurrency (and Bitcoin in particular) is.

I hardly doubt that banks will ever dissapear... at least, not in the next few decades.
Insted of dissapearing, they'll have to adapt to the new realities.

Re: [EDU] How to spot a scammer (Read this before doing any transactions!)
by
benjidaimio
on 10/06/2016, 16:27:58 UTC
So according to your logic, all noobs = scammers. That can't be right. I am new here. And I intend buying/selling as much bitcoin as I can + other currencies...whenever possible.

I have no intention of posting on topics that dont interest me, just so that I can drive up my post count, niether am I willing to wait for weeks or months before dealing. We all have to start somewhere. All old posters where once newbies.

The Admin/Older posters should find a way of vetting newbies. Maybe make it a rule that noobs go 1st, and also make escrows a must until one reaches a certain  level of trust. If an escrow is enforced, fees should be at the barest minimum to encourage rather than scare off potential users.

Even at this, there are no gaurantees. Ive had experiences in other forums where trusted members turned rougue.Just upped and left with their clients cash. So my advice will be to deal with caution. A little bit of common sense helps. Yes and maybe luck. sometimes you are unlucky to be a victim, but caution will help minimize your loss.

My main argument is that it is wrong to genaralize newbies and lump us all into 1 category. It is akin to saying all muslims are terrorists, that jews are greedy or that black people are lazy. Everyone should be given a chance.

On the flip side you do have some very valid points. Infact most of your points are true. I just dont agree with the generalization. I'l also suggest that after naming and shaming scammers...they should be banned.their ip/mac addresses logged and prevent from using the site. at least make it harder for them  to sign up again. Yes I know its difficult and near impossible. But maybe if those who benefit from this website through their exchanges and trades contribute a little something periodically...it will go a long way to helping police the site.

just my 2 cents

I couldn't agree with you more.
