Hey Benxy031, can you either post here the Fermat.cl file changes here or open a Pull Request here https://gitlab.com/gapcoin/gapminer

The GapMiner Compiles now using MX-Linux.

I have never used the GPU miner so if you can list the Command Line Commands too I can include it into the Readme file otherwise after I try the GPU miner I will list them myself.

I am mostly interested in double checking your Fermat.cl changes before I merge it......

Gpu commands are:

Code:
-g  --use-gpu           use the gpu for Fermat testing

  -d  --gpu-dev           the gpu device id

  -w  --work-items        gpu work items (default 2048)

  -z  --queue-size        the gpu waiting queue size (memory intensive)

  -a  --platform          opencl platform (amd or nvidia)

  -n  --num-gpu-tests     the number of test per gap per gpu run

YOu can download fermat.cl from here https://github.com/wizz13150/GapcoinStuff/blob/main/Custom/fermat.cl and compare with orginal fermat.cl

I  use this fermat https://github.com/0xmatt1/xpmclient/blob/master/gpu/fermat.cl and add first lines from jOnn9 fermat.cl.
And is the same copy just changing few lines.
I doubt that all this time nobady have seen that.
You have solution on this forum from 2014!!

I have looked a little more at the gpu miner code.

It seams to be a mess.

I looked at the following code and could not understand why the miner prints out "Error AMD accelerated parallel processing found". I saw that he did not care if it was a AMD or Nvidia but how could it drop down to the last else and get the error.

if (strcmp(platformId, "amd") == 0)
    platformName = "AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing";
  else if (strcmp(platformId, "nvidia") == 0)
    platformName = "NVIDIA CUDA";
  else {
    pthread_mutex_lock(&io_mutex);
    cout << get_time() << "ERROR: platform " << platformId << " not supported ";
    cout << " use amd or nvidia" << endl;
    pthread_mutex_unlock(&io_mutex);
    exit(EXIT_FAILURE);

Also he don't use the exit somewere else. He don't check for the cards before this code executes. So this piece of code is not useful for the program.

Then I started to read more. There are over 100 lines of code that are repeating itself. Checking the cards again and again. Also the fact that some old code in pthread also could course problems.  I'm not a c or c++ programmer so I maybe can't fix all of that. It's probably a cut and paste problem that left so much faulty code there.

I was only trying to fix faulty math against graphic cards and compile it. If it don't make harm I leave it in there for now.

I could not find any later gpu miner than 4.1 to work on. So if I'm wrong about that then point me in the right direction. This one I'm looking at. https://github.com/gapcoin/GapMiner

I said that I probably will fail.  Smiley All that faulty code don't make it easier.

Latest Gpu miner is rev4.1.
Where you get "Error AMD accelerated parallel processing found" ?
If you trying for NVIDIA you must use --platform

Linux compiling:
- Install compiling tools.
- Download db-4.8.30.NC. Extract. Compile it.
Short example ("/home/veter" is my homedir):
$ cd db-4.8.30.NC/build_unix
$ ../dist/configure --enable-cxx --disable-shared --with-pic --prefix=/home/veter/dbbin/
$ make
$ make install
- Install additional tools:
$ sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
$ sudo apt-get install libgmp-dev
$ sudo apt-get install libczmq-dev
- Compile DTC:
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure --with-gui=yes LDFLAGS="-L/home/veter/dbbin/lib/" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wvla -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -Wno-strict-aliasing" CFLAGS="-O3" CPPFLAGS="-fPIC -I/home/veter/dbbin/include/" LIBS="-lgmp -lboost_timer -levent_pthreads -lzmq -lczmq -lprotobuf"
$ make

In case protobuf version error you need to regenerate protocol.pb.h and protocol.pb.cpp files from protocol.proto.
$ cd ./src/madpool
$ protoc --cpp_out=. protocol.proto
$ mv ./protocol.pb.cc ./protocol.pb.cpp
$ cd ../..

I successful compile for Ubuntu using this instruction Smiley

Trying to mine test coins with xpmclient.

What am I doing wrong:

# Pool websites:
#   http://xpmforall.org
server = "154.66.207.206";

port = "6666";

# Your XPM payout address
address = "VYqnfjwMf3y174sF8Yirh1gtt8yJbwqYpE";

# You can give this machine a custom name
# Computer name is used as default
#name = "custom_name";

# Platform:
#  "amd": AMD GCN cards
#  "amd legacy": AMD HD5xxx & HD6xxx cards
#  "amd vega": AMD Vega cards
#  "nvidia": NVidia Maxwell cards
platform = "amd";

My static ip address is 154.66.207.206.

If you are mining on the same machine you have the testnet on,  just use 127.0.0.1
If it's not local, then you have to make sure you are setting the port properly in the .conf file (others chime in on this to make sure this is right, i may be wrong)

And remember to activate the mining server on the Datacoin testnet wallet you are running by putting setgenerate true in the console.

Anyone else have any ideas?
If it's local use 127.0.0.1, if it's not use host = ip in both conf files (datacoin conf and xpmclient config)
Do you run both wallets on sam machine? (test and main)

Yes

Apertus.io is written in C#.  Have you tried to run it with Mono for Linux, Mac and Android?

https://www.mono-project.com/

We have not.
But I love the idea!
I have tried with mono to run Apertus on Ubuntu 17.10, but no success Sad

I compiled mono (configure, make, make install etc) and it installed correctly under Lubuntu 17.10.  I did "mcs hello.cs" and got hello.exe.  Then "mono hello.exe" gave "Hello Mono World".
Now I need to start Apertus.  I see a ADD.csproj, ADD.sln, Main.cs etc.  "xbuild" seems to run.

Apertus is not comptabile with mono.
There is issues from 2015 in githubhttps://github.com/HugPuddle/Apertus/issues/16
Any solution for this?

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MINING
You need to start the embeded "madpool" in dtc client, then use xpmclient for mining.

1. setgenerate true
Enter this command in dtc console. If you need you can stop pool later with command "setgenerate false", but closing dtc application also works Smiley

You can't solo mine just with wallet,you need xpmclient.
Start wallet with extra command ./datacoin-qt - testnet -minshare=7 -target=7 (minshare and target set to actual diff).
In xpmclinet config file set IP address and Coin address,pool port(6666), start mining.
diff in xpmclient I set to 8 any lover than that crashes miner.
I don't know whay.
 Just like solo mining on mainnet.
