Holding is not really the best strategy as recommended by you. Traders have been doing shorting to make good money on daily basis and they have been successful with this.
Holding works for coins that have good market cap and would increase in a stable way over time. For example BTC and ETH. For other coins, holding is risky and it is better to do shorting more than holding long term.

To find good ICO projects, I use sites like icomarket, foundico and many others. I also pay a lot of attention to the groups in the telegrams that are associated with the crypto currency. In such groups it is possible to learn a lot of new and interesting things.

Hitbtc is not a really good exchange, but it will not scam. I use this exchange for a long time, and have not encountered any problems. Even Hitbtc is a dream exchange for altcoin to be created just for pump and pump.

KYC or Know Your Customer is one of the good way to identify if some ICO are legit. Passing in KYC is also depends on yourself if you you are already trusting the ICo or do you believe in the potentials of the project you can do KYC without doubting. I think it depends on you. Depending also on how you assess the project and its team. Sometimes projects won't really go down that would probably deprive you from re buying low. But it really depends on you. Just stick to your plans in my opinion.

Bittrex is one of the best exchanges for today, at least for me. There have never been problems with the withdrawal, although the account is not confirmed, and a good support service.Binance to it, too, is worth taking a closer look.

Why bitrex is not in your list. Bitfinex is mostly you can in the forum itself.
Bitrex and polenix are best exchange sites in the market which can be used widely and even many coins listed in coinmaketcap also will direct to reach the bitrex site only.
Since these kind usage range, I would like to go for bitrex only as the bestie one in the trusted exchanges.

You can buy Altcoins from either Poloniex and Bittrex, depends on what Altcoin do you plan to buy because not all exchanges offer the same list of tokens or coins but Poloniex and Bittrex I think have the most extensive list of alts and tokens. Minimum transaction on both platform is 0.0005 BTC. Enjoy the red days while you can.

There are so many ways to earn money on this forum. You just need to study buonty and services sections and decide what is most interesting for you. If you want to invest you need to go to the ICO section, if you want to earn without investing, then you need to go to the bounty. But there are many other ways. Just open your eyes.
