This is a great day for Burst. After 1 year of network growth we get a substantial update of the core!

I've updated the Win Client...

... ah, and this BurstDevTeam Account and this Thread is legit.

Thank you daWallet for everything! Much appreciated! I'll update the other OP with download links.

I was confused until I read your post. I thought you were the dev, then I read this post by BurstDevTeam. Are you a member of BurstDevTeam sharing that account with other devs?

This is a new unmoderated Thread by the Burst Developers.

Like daWallet I thought the BurstDevTeam account might not be legit.

What made you invest heavily in nxt in the first place? Any predictions for 2016-17 for ardor and other crypto coins.

Anyway congrats for being an early investor of nxt.

Thanks ashapasa  Cool

Here you can find my initial reasons:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruYAxKeWxnM&list=PLJsRA97ztzdJ6N4ADOIszoSqG01KMaxMv&index=39

In summary I started investing because of the 100% Proof Of Stake architecture making it much more secure network against a 51% attack than bitcoin as well as offer much cheaper transactions.

I also liked very much that they got completely rid of inflation.

Since then I learned that no inflation is not desirable as bills for development and marketing need to get payed by all coinholders, and not just those that donate, and thus inflation is the only way to achieve this if you want to continue to offer a low fee network.

My initital scepticism that they were shooting too broad trying to offer decentralised money, as well as decentralised asset exchange, messaging, marketplace, monetary system etc proved valid. Only the asset exchange took off and even that gets undermined by the devs with the new nxt 2.0 proposal by devaluing nxt currency and the assets therefore indirectly too.

I think the future for NXT is indeed Ardor, offering people an easy way to setup their own cryptocurrency or decentralised application, and could be very successful if they focus on it.

Lisk and all its variations are based on nxt. Ardor is nxt2.0 and it offers more than the original nxt1.0. That will give it a bigger market cap than lisk. Lisk can't compete with Ardor because Ardor has superior practical applications from its high performance tech.

What happened with that CF for a Chinese exchange?

Hi,
there was never a CF for a Chinese exchange.

The CF for Yobit was successfully funded, but Yobit was not responsive at all to take the 0.4 BTC (+0.1 out of the Teams pocket) to add Burst. They simply ignored the money.

So I looked around were to get listed with 0.5 BTC and www.livecoin.net seemed to be the best choice. They have a higher volume than Yobit and don't have a bad reputation. They serve also the Russian market and want to expand to China. Their support is always available. So I converted the Funds into Votes to get listed and we are at the 5th place now.

You can support it by voting 1 time per month for free.

Bter.com is a Chinese exchange that also has some free voting.

Bter has a bad reputation. It was hacked and carried on running, but froze bitcoins in customer accounts to pay for bitcoins lost in the hack. Although bter promised to pay all customers back from exchange profits it never did, and nobody can withdraw bitcoins held in bter accounts during the hack. The hack was a year or two ago, and most old customers refuse to use it because they lost bitcoins on it.

wtf, where are all the trains, rockets, moon and other related GIFs?

The poster above you has an avatar that looks like either a rocket or a spaceship.

It's from the Galaga space ship shooting game released by Namco in 1981. There's one low resolution rocket for you.

The OP should include bounties such as 100 coins for the first person to say scamcon has a hidden premine the dev is planning to dump, or that he secretly instamined it. There was a scamcoin a few years ago that had such bounties.

Guys,

Just want to bring this to your attention:

BTER's qora hot wallet address QXNz5kBknsgNYtRKit4jCDNVm7YYoXLZdB currently shows it only holds less than 4% of qora supply (3.77% to be exact or close to 380 million qora).  If you still have qora on the exchange, I'd highly advise you withdraw your qora now because a quick look at the sell orders reveals that the total amount of sell bids account for almost 300 million qora.

I've been monitoring BTER's address for a while now, and I always wonder whether BTER even has enough qora in reserve to cover all the deposits currently in their account (there were instances when I noticed their qora account actually had way less qora than what was listed on the sell page, and the account wasn't replenished by any cold wallet with large qora reserve right away either).

Of course I may be wrong about this as BTER might have a cold wallet or two that I don't know of, so just consider this a warning and a friendly reminder.

Bter doesn't always send deposited Qora to their cold wallet. I made a deposit and it sat in the address I sent it to for over a month. When I withdrew my Qora the coins were sent from the same address I deposited into. Although it wasn't a massive amount of coins Bter might not send everyone's deposits to their cold wallet so it doesn't necessarily have to contain enough Qora to match all the sell orders.

Can you post a brief outline of what the main points were for those unable to view youtube at work?

Is a deal still on the cards and is the next big meeting tonight still on the agenda?

Re: Kraken Accepting MtGox Bankruptcy Claims
by
big ears
on 07/07/2015, 13:41:42 UTC
Regardless of whether you are claiming through Kraken or the MtGox claims site, don't forget that the trustee has said they will accept claims up until May 29th Japan time.

When do you think we might start seeing some coin?  & for an even trickier question what % chance in your opinion would you put on us seeing anything back at all? (guess you cant speculate on that?)

The timeline for payouts depends on how long it takes the trustee to evaluate all the claims. This is bound to be a slow process and I wouldn't expect payouts for 3 more months at least.

I can't speculate on a % chance, but assuming the information given by the trustee is accurate, it seems claimants have a good chance to see a portion of their original funds returned. It's hard to say how much claimants might get back though.

Hopefully the trustee will issue an update sometime in the next month or so that will shed more light on things, but until then all we can do is wait. Hang in there everyone!

The deadline for claims has been extended until the end of July so evaluating all the claims will take even longer than we thought. A number of bitcointalk members said they had missed the original deadline and the extension is good news for them. Spread the word because they only have a few weeks left to claim.

Trustee Extends Online Deadline for Mt. Gox Claimants

Customers affected by Mt. Gox's insolvency have been given more time to file their online bankruptcy claims. A document from bankruptcy trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi, released on the former exchange's webpage, indicated the deadline has been extended from the end of May to July 29.

The document states:

"Nearer the time of distribution, the bankruptcy trustee is planning to give users an opportunity to use the system again to make changes to the details of their bankruptcy claims other than increasing the amount of the bankruptcy claims that users have filed.”

Some defense against this sort of attack needs building into Bitcoin. It cost me money waiting for my transaction to go through. I wanted to sell some of my Bitcoins at the top, and by the time my transaction got through the price had gone down, and I had to sell for less.

These bull troll predictions are as bad as the bear troll predictions. I don't believe we are going to $50k by Xmas, and I don't believe we are going to $10 by next Xmas. Drawing some lines on a chart isn't going to make either thing happen. There are too many over optimistic predictions appearing since the Greek referendum.

When I tried using Ruby I found it was extremely difficult, I had all sorts of problems and gave up because trying to fix them was wasting too much of my time. I admit I had no knowledge of it before I started but I never had so many problems using other languages for the first time. If an alt coin gets coded in it and is full of bugs and glitches it will put people off.

But... But... Why is there going to be a fork...?  Huh

Devvie
The current one was not intended. The devteam wants to controll the new fork and then others can join the fork.
There are to less people connected from the beginning to this new fork and there is danger it is not a valid one.
The comming days we decide if we go on with this one or with a new fork and 80% sure we fork from block 1051199.
I keep this one in live for a few days to investigate.
For people be in this fork we provide a boodstrap.dat and maybe new wallet client but that is were we are working on.
Do not startup your wallet if you were not online after block 1051199!

...

I was not online after block 1051199. How long do you estimate it will be before it's safe to start up my wallet again?

Yep, I have this problem as well. I have a pi 2 and an original B model pi running wallets. They both stopped syncing at 11:04:04 AM Mar 27 2015.

Both pis have no errors on SD card and both pis have just over 10 GB remaining space. I see no hardware or other problems on my side that can contribute to this.

Edit to confirm I am stuck at the very same block as what is pictured above.

Possible fork/ Disagreement in the chain?
On two locations I download now the blockchain to see if can move it.
What posibilities are there to solve this?
I have send message to the dev and hope he can solve.
What are other options?

What's the difficulty? Sometimes a big whale staking can push up the difficulty so much it takes ages to find the next block.

edit]

No, the block explorer shows the last block's difficulty was 0.031, so it can't be that.

I have that feeling too. It's been a very low volume week and once the volume increases I guess it will be a dump, not a pump.
