as this was your personal experience, any failure is purely a reflection of your single attempt, and most likely could be resolved reading the threads, and doing some research online, but most importantly likely a reflection of your hardware choices. as stated, linuxcoin is not for everyone, no one is forcing you to use 'advanced' software, move onto what works for you.

personally, last night i was able to PXE boot twenty two (22) servers into linuxcoin configured for persistence and move my pool mining at will using smartcoin until my heart desired! try that with windows!

Dr.Green: can we get a rundown on what linuxcoin-patches-xxXX11 are suggested to apply to the -final build
Thats great you can netboot all of your miners, but then you need a requried server to be able to handle all of the clients and about 2 gigs of ram for it to run...

any ways,

I"m very good with computers, and I mess with OSX and Windows more then linux, I never even bother with linux becuase it to much dirty work, and I tryed bitcoin linux to see how well it woul work on my system,

four times on three drifrent systems, and it seems to not work at all. I"m in for mining for the fun of it, I think we all are, and Im sorry if I sound like a crazy person but still linux does not work for me and I made legit complantes about it... and it seems they wont get fixed

well when stuf like the conection problem with the bitminer on all of the the pools I tryed is fixed I might look at it again,
Where is the install to hard drive? I rather not run from usb sticks if I have tons and tons of hard drives I can use as I have only two usb sticks
Why are there features like mp3 players and stuff included? if its a miner it needs to be close to bear bones,  My xp install may be big but for windows xp its quite about a gig or two
Im sorry but I think the fancey tesktops and stuff can be taken out to safe space and bandwith

the over clocking porgram fails to work.
The miner once again fails to work to mine and ive tested with all three of my miners, and they are all range of ages. (4 year old 5 year old 4week old)
all have ati cards I said yes to the amd licence crap,

see windows works easer for this, if I want my wallet safe then I put it in a tc file. tis not that hard

now if there is a v0.3 or even .4 then I will try it again but it needs the bugs worked out,

and whats the root password?

I tested this crap out, and could not even tell me how many Mhash that I was geting,

then it desides to do a nice crash on me.
I cant find the shutdown,  so I force the system off so I can just shut it down,

I also tryed this on both my  main miners, and both had the same problems, and the network does not seem to work properly in my 4 year old systems that I made a miner, but the network seems to run fine on my brand spanking new mother board

This needs a major update. the gui miner needs to be fixed, Nothing saves even with a usb

guys try again, I rather not deal with linux, windozoes does a muchbetter job, and now I can have 8 cards per winblows system

I think Ill stick to my macs for regualr computer use..
and winblows for my servers and miners,

I wish linux was easy to uunderstand, but its not and its riddled with bugs

Re: Warter cooling

My room is my mining room and its about 25c where as outside its like 35ish
I"ve redid the paste on the 5770 its an asus card and has the worst heatsnyc ever, it has a fan not blowing out side but inside and makes the air around it hoter then it should be

ive put a house fan by it and it seems to get a few degreses cooler if I had no fan pointed at the card it would be in the 90"s

all of my other cards are in the 70's and this is the only one in the mid 80"s

I rather just get this card cooling first, then see how it works

and then maby get to work on my main dedi miner, I know this card can pump out 215mhash but its only giving me about 180 as of the underclocking, and it sucks, majorly

I'm going to say one thing, Dont use that 1tb as your main drive.
its going to get fragmented quick.

Use a smaller hard drive as your system drive and the 1tb as storage.
a 160 gig would be good for windows 7 to live on  even can live on 40 gig if you had to,.

Warter cooling
by
bigjake52
on 12/08/2011, 01:40:37 UTC
I am looking at warter cooling for my four graphics cards

one of them is an asus 5770 (This needs the cooling bad as its running in the 80s underclocked!

Two cards are ati radeon hd 6970 it would be nice to have the them Wc'd

and then my tower that is my main system uses an radeon hd 6870 form ati

so what am I looking at as I"m quite new to the whole bit mining and graphics card sceen  as im not a big pc gamer and such.

Now If I would put my miners on this how would I overclock?
I assume linux has no msi after burner like porgram,

Personly im not a big fan of linux but something like this is quite smart, and a good use for linux.....

Also could I just install this to the hard drive of the miners, as I have goten hard drives for my miners, even if they are 15-40 gigs,

Now that said, Is it worth my time to migrate my miners from windows xp and windows 7 just to mine with linux? Would I get better Mhash? like 10-15 is great

Does the miner in linux have a gui like guiminer?

I hate comand line,

I"m sorry if that has been aswered before but I just can not sit thouhg and surf for stuff

Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here)
by
bigjake52
on 31/07/2011, 07:27:16 UTC
Thought I would add in

My main tower I use every day I get about 210mhash out of it with a ati 5770 over clocked,

the other system I got running (with a temp video card as newegg is being dumb) is an ati 6870 and gets about 310mhash over clocked,

so thats about 500mhash, I expect to get my other two cards and overclock them and get about 400 out of each card, so im expecting around 1.2gigahash.

Just new egg is making me wait for the two new cards comming in the mail, then im going to take the 6870 and put it in my main tower, put the 5770 in my moms tower, and then put the two new 6970's in the dedi minging rig,

Might bulid a second rig soon and slap in four 6970's

I"m shocked by my current two cards running, geting little over 500mhash,
